Looker Gun: 8D6 EB. NND (Flash defense). Limitations: Instant Awaken (-1), OAF.

The "Instant Awaken" Limitation is from "Gadgets!". an 80s supplement for Champions and Danger Int.

    The attack is STUN Only.

It only works if the stun of the attack exceeds the Victim's CON.

Any stimulus that would wake a sleeping person returns all STUN instantly.

The Autohypnotic Gun, by Aaron Allston.

    Adventurer's Club #9.

    Instant Awaken:

The target takes no damage at all if they are not Stunned or Knocked Out.

On the Phase they recover from being Stunned or Knocked Out they instantly regain all Stun lost to the attack.

A slap, loud noise, or similar stimulus allows immediate recovery from the attack.

I haven't even gotten my hands on TUV yet, and MORE BOOKS ARE COMMING OUT!

Are you kidding? I haven't even gotten Ninja Hero yet.

Got to love the local game store.

Actual questions I asked, spread over time:

"Have you gotten Star Hero? It was released this week."

"Have you gotten Star Hero? It was released two weeks ago."

"Have you gotten Star Hero? It was released three weeks ago."

"Have you gotten Star Hero? It was released a month ago."

"Have you gotten Star Hero? It was released last month."

At least I eventually got it.

I wish this, too, but now that they tore down the set last week and the actors that played Mal and Zoe have moved on to new series, it seems sadly unlikely.

Were there ever any spoilers on what the preacher's big secret was?

It's great that we're finally getting more shows that use foreshadowing, overlying story arcs, etc. but it makes premature cancellation stink that much worse. You never get the resolution of the dangling plotlines.

Okay, now I'm confused. I recently took a double-take on this topic, re-read your post, and re-checked page 77,78. Now, if I understand correctly, Ablative works (see above post/quote) as discussed. HOWEVER, as a variant, per GM option, it would be a -1 only if there was excess BODY and the BODY wouldn't be taken as BODY damage, it would work on the Act Pts of the ablative defense?

The variant reduces the defense by 5 AP if the attack could do BODY if the damage roll was good enough, whether it actually does BODY or not.

6d6 Energy Blast vs. 15 ED

    Maximum 12 BODY, no Ablation

12d6 Energy Blast vs. 15 ED

Maximum 24 BODY, Defenses Ablate whatever the actual BODY damage is.

In all the rules I've seen governing starship combat and damage, there is no real mention of STUN damage effects caused to ships. The rules only talk about BODY damage - which makes a fair amount of sense, since we are talking about a construct. Given that, why do the sample starships in SH list the Ablative limitation at -1, when pg 77 of FRED states Ablative vs. BODY only is worth [only] a -1/2 limitation?

    There's a variant -1 Ablative on page 78 of H5, referenced on p. 198 of star Hero.

If an attack could do BODY if it rolled well enough, the defense is reduced by 5 AP, whether the attack actually does damage or not.

e.g. 10d6 EB vs. 15 ED Force Field reduces the Force Field by 5 AP per hit.

In the episode with the Yangs and Cons (I think, can't remember the title) Spock was able to telepathically influence a woman's behavior at a distance, although it took intense concentration.

I may have the wrong episode, but I definitely remember him controlling a primative woman from across a room.

And because bombing them back two weeks wouldn't have been terribly impressive.

Close. It was a "Private Snafu" Cartoon, Directed by Chuck Jones and written by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) as a training film for GI's.

    1945: Coming Home

    Private Snafu: Unreleased; Chuck Jones

Private Snafu comes home and tells Army secrets to everyone in town. Because of his loose lips, his troop is ambushed.

One of the secrets that he revealed was the testing of a new bomb powerful enough that one was able to obliterate an entire island.

All of the films had to be approved by the Pentagon prior to release and since this one hit so close to the Manhattan Project it was scrapped and never released.

Cartoon Network showed it on an episode of Toonheads featuring wartime cartoons.
