  1. Ninja-Bear,

I'm partial to 5rEd. It seems to me that heroic makes sense because all programs have a disc and the ability to create vehicles, so it will primarily be skill based, at least to start. I'll likely allow players to spend points to build powers later in the game, once we get our sea-legs. Ultimate Martial Artists seems like a no-brainer to make a Disk-Fu MA Package.

  2. So the deal is this: Near future, Tech-based powered armor. My current thinking is to make this an Heroic game so that the focus is on the characters. Each "driver" or wearer of the armor will have a chosen field of study. Either a hard science or perhaps something a little more on the fringe.

Equipment will consist of a base-model exoskeleton, but several "mission mods" can be loaded on hardpoints at major joints (shoulders, back, Left and right arms, left and right legs) depending on what the job might call for. Think of Iron Man meets Thunderbirds, or, Centurions, if you remember that show...

So the question is: Thoughts on Character point and Disad limits? Norm Cha Max will be included.

    Thanks!

  3. Question Man probably knows this, and I'll check the genre thread in a second, but has anyone had any experience with building Mecha (piloted robots) for 5th Ed, and would you build them as straight characters, or vehicles?

Vehicles would be more technically accurate, but is also a lot more cumbersome.

    Thanks!

  4. Two things:

I need an opinion on the "arms race" of creative players.

    In a 250 pt. 5th ed.

There are Active point and limitation caps in place for a current game (50 pts and -1 respectively). I realize now that I should have imposed a DC limit, 'cause my players LOVE to use levels to turn a respectable 8d6 into say 14, and a fairly low-level DCV of 4 or 5 into 14 (figuring in maneuvers and such).

Now, I know that I bear a lot of responsibility for not reigning in players enough, but my fear is that in order to challenge them, at least combat wise, I'm now engaged in an arms race to keep up with a few players in a sizable group who don't seem to possess a sense of scale.

So, how have you guys handled this in the past?

I want the game to be challenging and engaging for everyone. The story seems to have their interest, but I can see a not too distant time down the road where, in order to reign in my "few", the others will either be forced to join in with behavior I don't want to encourage, or get crushed by vastly over-powered enemies.

Thing 2 is much easier. Any good sources or links for giant robots/Mecha?

    Thanks for your time!

  5. I've kicked this idea around for years, and I'm finally going to do it, so I'm wondering: Has anyone out there run Galaxy Rangers in Champs or Star Hero?

I'm thinking Heroic level with exceptions made for the PCs badge powers (End battery with charges to activate, and they CAN tap into personal END, but it's not a good idea)

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks guys!
