Descendants (one of the staples of Disney+ for tweens is by all accounts a terrible movie. It didn't help that Kristen Chenowith, the original Glinda in Wicked and one of the stars of the short-lived drama GCB (which stands for Good Christian B****s) is horrifyingly mis-cast as Maleficent. The song is interesting in its way thanks to Chenowhith's enthusiastic performance. She really sells the piece.

From the animated biblical epic The Prince of Egypt, a surprisingly inspiring song performed by Broadway legend Brian Stokes Mitchell. The sentiment is quite important to me, although not necessary to anyone else (especially if they despise community in favor of raw, rugged individualism.
The movie, as most of you may remember, is the Exodus story that emphasizes the character and internal conflicts of Moses. Moses had been adopted into the Egyptian royal family and was in the halls of power and wealth until a fit of righteous rage made him an outcast. His demand to release the Hebrews upon his return leads him into what becomes a personal duel between him and his "brother", Ramses. It may be one of the best retellings of the story. It performed the remarkable feet of making Moses interesting, a difficult problem for portrayals of Biblical heroes from Jesus all the way down the list.

They must defeat Iran to advance, I think; a third draw will mean they come home. (I am assuming England will defeat Wales here.)
You know, the thought of two nations who have been on the brink of war for forty damn years facing off on a soccer pitch is the one hopeful thing to come out of this dumpster fire of an event.

I'm more curious about the finances than the football. I am even angrier about this Cup than most of the posters here. Qatar was a terrible choice for host nation, money in FIFA voters' pockets not withstanding.
But what has that meant for the ad revenue in markets like the United States. A sport without interruptions of play simply to accommodate TV commercials sounds like a tough enough sell. Of course, there are fans who might not care at all -- which I find distasteful. And what will this do to Qatar's stability when the new arenas lose money and end up with no local occupants. Does Qatar even have a top-flight leaguer?
Seriously -- is there a league in Qatar that can use these arenas?

I was watching a video about music not available on streaming sites, and the soundtrack for the 1978 film, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, was mentioned. This song was pulled out as one of the best covers of a Beatles song ever:
Absolutely terrible film. Some of the music was bad, some so-so, but some of the music was fantastic. Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together" is superb.

Kevin Conroy was Batman the way Jeremy Brett was Sherlock Holmes and Devid Suchetg was Hercule Poirot. They became so definitive that when I think of their roles, these are the images I see and the voices I hear.
And I can't help but imagine Kevin having the afterlife version of a cuip of tea with Mako and Tony Jay.

More success as a duo than in solo careers helped keep things going, I think. Looking at the "Years Active" sidebar on Wikipedia helps illustrate that:
1956–1958, 1963–1970, 1972, 1975–1977, 1981–1984, 1990, 1993, 2003–2005, and 2007–2010A great deal of amazing work has come out of stormy partnerships.
Paul Simon has had a very good solo career on his songwriting. Art Garfunkel has a great voice but can't write his way out of a Slinky.

The top level of F1 is all about the Constructors Championship, Unlike American racing divisions, there is no standardized car just some general guidelines. The skill levels of the drivers is only relevant when things are equal or when certain cars perform better at certain tracks to equalize things. Hamilton and Mercedes have been the best car and team for most of the past decade. ( No slight to Verstappen, but if last year's championship had happened in America, the lawsuits would still be raging.) This year Red Bull just has far and away the best car design. Ferrari was close but was too prone to mechanical failure and Mercedes had an off year. The rest are playing for an odd victory or two but mostly for third places and spots on the bottom of the podium.
I can see simplified versions of that in the boardgame Championship Formula Racing (CFR), which is itself a modernization of the Avalon Holl/3M classic Speed Circuit. This involves assigning the abilities of your cars and racing them around simulated Formula 1 tracks. It's quite fun, but I have an uncanny knack for finding new ways to finish last. When I don't finish last, I don't finish at all. The chance that a player can be knocked out of the game before the end was considered a flaw by the people, I taught the game to recently.
