Re: "Yor Momma" one liners needed
ooops I forgot an old standby
"your mother swims out to meet troopships"
and you could throw in "and they threw her back"
but thats from something called "The Limerick Song" which is best left untold
or just google for it if you must

Re: "Yor Momma" one liners needed
how to really insult a demon prince
"Your mother was a red cross volunteer who gave cookies to paladins children"
how to really insult a klingon or other warlike race]
"Your Mother Didnt wear Combat Boots"
for an ork:
"I hear your mother bathed in rose water, and liked it"

Re: On SIZE and blueprints
I stiill have a copy of Champs 2, which had some rules for sizes etc...
should we stick with those, or work up something differerent?
-
Re: On SIZE and blueprints
I have most of the old traveller deck plans from FASA, and a set of Azhanti High Lightning with an extra set of maps here
thats one disapointment about Ultimate Vehicle, they went away from the older rules that covered how much space something took up, the new version is just a little too vague for my tastes

Re: On SIZE and blueprints
we had a thread going over on the star hero fandom site, about ship design and how much space things take up, but it kinda died
I seemed to do most of the posting, I could go back to work on it easy enough, but I would hope to see a litttle more input

Re: On SIZE and blueprints
converting traveller squares or Gurps squares to Hero is easy
its 2 hero hexes to a traveller square
-
were starting to try and organize some chat sessions on Undernet IRC
on our #traveller channel, but we have a lot of GURPS and D20 folks too
and a couple of us are big hero fans...
I want to try and drum up more interest in Hero and traveller both
even Hero in general
we usually start about 7pm eastern time
and were trying to organize something for this friday night
if this is stepping on any toes, it wasnt intended
i figure cross-system/genre interests are always a good thing
if any questions catch me here or by e-mail
or stop by #traveller
if nobodys in #traveller, theres at least one of us in #callahans most of the time
Callahans being based on Mike Callahans famous crosstime saloon of course

heres a small subsidized passenger liner thats commonly seen plying routes off the beaten path, capable of gas giant refueling, and carrying a decent load of cargo, and about 40 passengers in comfort. this ship can also carry up to 20 peoplesicles.
this design has also seen lots of other more interesting uses, q-ships, mercenary transports etc...

Re: Thunderbolt Heavy Strike Fighter
you are correct, the weapon is intended to have a minimum range however
its not designed for attacking small fast moving targets also
-
Re: Thunderbolt Heavy Strike Fighter
its borrowed with permission from the X-Tek website, which was originally intended as a traveller design
-
Re: Thunderbolt Heavy Strike Fighter
revised version.... I was taking a better look and realized I wanted to revise some things
-
tinkering with a new design
instead of the usual lasers etc... this mounts a fixed forward firing particle accelerator
the damage isnt great, but the suprression is basically an EMP
-
now for the APC version

another interesting 40K Vehicle

doing some tinkering with 40K Conversions

Re: Computers In Star Hero
I was going for something similar to old traveller or space opera in the first place
refering to the discussion thread on space opera conversions, I wasnt really clear about that in my initial post

ok, heres something else from
my archives

Re: Computers In Star Hero
your mileage may vary, In my universe most early starship computers arent AI's to begin with. I guess I am a little harder on my players... but again its my game
theres been considerable debate on other boards about this very subject, I think we have to agree to disagree on this one. an AI computer makes sense for an NPC, but if its not an AI, then its a bit different
I just think the current system gives players and the ships computer too much flexibility.

Re: Computers In Star Hero
I'm not a big fan of the VPP for a lot of things
I like the idea of a multipower with set slots for the programs you have loaded
so there are limits on just how much you can have running at once
even an AI has its limits, at least in my universe.
I also dont allow VPP for sensor arrays, they are hardwired and installed when the ship is built, but you cant just decide yesterdays meson comm link is a tachyon beam dictator or Hyperpulse generator.
but I grew up with old school traveller and space opera, and old habits die hard
I know Hero isnt either of the above, but I just like something a little more plausible for heroic level games. sensor VPP works fine for something liike a Star Trek or soime higher B5 tech levels.
I allow swapping out of some sensor modules to simulate new tech or upgraded arrays. but its not something you do in 12 seconds on a whim etc.
allowing a vpp for sensors etc makes more sense for a superheroic level game than heroic etc
yes, I am quite the heretic

I've been looking at doing something a little different in my Star Hero universe
each computer gets a multipower for programs, and this way your are limited in how many programs you can have running at once.
this is based on whats been done with Traveller, Space Opera, and Spacemaster
for example say you have a 20 pt multipower for software
and you need to have various programs running
(You get 1 1pt progam per 3 pts of int that dont count in the MP)
I know it says your not supposed to put skills in a MP or Veep
but this is the one time I allow it in my universe at least
other ideas?
opinions?
Brickbats... tacnukes?

Re: Anybody remember Space Opera?
ok, I will start the ball rolling with ship design
SO volume 2 gives the volume of each ship hull size
so its a simple matter of converting said volume to hexes
and its the same formula I use for converting traveller stuff over
you take your total volume in cubic meters and divide by 14 to get displacement tons
1 displacement ton is 2 Hero hexes
SO hull Hero Size
100 12
250 14
500 15
1000 17
2500 18
5000 20
10000 22
15000 23
20000 23
25000 24
50000 25
100000 27
125000 27
150000 28
175000 28
200000 28
250000 29
300000 29
400000 30
500000 30
600000 30
750000 30
1000000 32
theres a copy of my full hull chart on the boards and over at Starhero fandom
or I could repost it here if needed

Re: Anybody remember Space Opera?
I am in the process of running a campaign set in the merchantile league right now
its mostly a merchant/trader game so far
were using the trade and commerce tables from D20 traveller though

Re: Thunderbirds are Go!
ok, its going to vary by speed and NCM
I figured it at Speed 4 and *8 NCM
which gives it a flight speed of 1,257 per phase
Prefab for Herbs and Poisons
in Fantasy Hero
Posted
Re: Prefab for Herbs and Poisons
a lot of the herbs are going to be specialized variants of healing or aid
with limitations such as extra time due to needing prep, and they might require a skill roll to use properly, along with side affects for addiction or other fun things.
