  1. Re: Lost and Found super-ads Lost: Sledgehammer with really short handle wrapped in leather. Lost it somewhere west of New York. Thrown but did not return. If found please leave message at Avenger Mansion. Do not attempt to lift, deceptively heavy. Not responsible for hernias, pulled muscles or other injuries. If injured, suggest contacting Dr. Donald Blake, I hear he is great.
  2. Re: If You Had To Play a DC Character… I'd go with the original Wildfire or Blue Devil. Maybe original Green Lantern (Alan Scott) or Wildcat. They would be the most fun for me. This is assuming Ambush Bug is not a valid choice.
  3. Re: If You Had To Play a Marvel Character… 4-color, eh? Verily, methinks I would choose Thor (Walt Simonson era, please) Street level, I'd choose Moon Knight (before or after the gaudy gold) or Longshot. As for why, I've always liked these characters. I've always liked Moon Knight more than Batman, especially when Batman was in JLA mode. Simonson's Thor defined the character to an extent that no other writer could do (which they destoryed pretty quickly after he left the title). Longshot is just plain fun.
  4. Re: Character Curveballs Ah, the Aboriginals. But you forgot: Wild Kingdom - secret ID of Marlon Perkins. large VPP with animal effects. If he needed a forcewall, an elephant stood in the way. Invisibility? Just summon a tiger and they are too busy looking at it. Outback Jack - secret ID, Jim Fowler. Had every skill in the book, literally. Wrangler of Dingo the Dog Boy. Treefrog - the 6' tall blind frog martial artist with ranged targeting taste. Captain Kangaroo - Millionaire playboy, team gadgeteer. Gadget pool focus in the pouch of his costume, a kangaroo outfit. Owner of the team vehicle, the Chopperoo, which has a ton of superleap and very little flight. Mastodon - incredibly large and heavy hero with a public ID. Rival and nemesis of The Great Barrier Reef. The only traditional hero in the team. Upset that the GBR got better press than he did and was generally well-liked by the public. GBR had an ad deal with Subway restaurants for millions of dollars, while Mastodon still worked for a living. The Oracle - - danger sense with enough area effect to cover the entire planet. Sits in the quiet room of the base and tries not to cry all day long. Someday I will spring them on an unsuspecting convention.
  5. Re: Need a few suggestions for new girl on the block Carburetor, not transmission. I'm glad you don't work on the car.
  6. Re: Anyone have solutions for the Stun Lottery that a high dice Killing Attack creates?
  7. I am running a champions game at the standard power level (350). I find that the most unbalancing things are, surprise, raw killing attacks. One character has 4d6K sword attack (6d6 with STR), max damage of 36 Body, 180 Stun. Sure hitting max damage is 1/279936, but hitting average damage of 21 body with a x5 stun multiple for 105 Stun is a very close to a 1/6 shot. Essentially the difference between HTH and Ranged attacks is the trade off of range and adding extra STR. I am seriously considering a 4d6K cap. Anyone else come up with a way to mitigate the Stun Lottery? I have thought of running a statiscial analysis on damage classes for normal and killing attacks. Anyone done that already?
  8. Re: Need a few suggestions for new girl on the block You should give your players tons of points and neat stuff for free. Ok, maybe only the player that lives with you. See you when I get home
  9. Re: Chronicles of Narnia Who says the pcs have to come in at or after the time of Lion Witch and the Wardrobe? How about the time when the Witch is gaining power, or even before that? They know about humans, so there must have been a few in the past. Pretty much wide open for plot, but you have the setting and creatures defined.
  10. Re: fear-ability years ago one guy in my gaming group ran CoC with Hero System. Starting sanity was ego*5 and was rolled on a d100 (for ease of use with the CoC suppliments). While it is possible to start with a 100 (or more) under this system, there are effects that automatically drain sanity, and you really never recover from a mythos event (if you are playing it like CoC), just slowing the trip to the asylum.
