  1. Re: Champions Teleport power tricks Thanks for the suggestions. Yes I got the falling damage wrong. Yes he is trying to use a lot of telekinetic tricks (we also have a telekinetic in the group who is doing similar tricks). I have allowed effectively 100kg / 10 strength teleport grabs to disarm. I have tried to explain that teleport has not got the manipulation possibilities of a telekinetic. He wanted to teleport a tyre of a tractor onto someone but I did not allow it. His theory is I can teleport 100kg so why not do all of these tricks with things weighing 100kg and not buy a specific power linked to it. I would have allowed it with the basic 30 strength telekinetic powers but it would have taken a phase to pull it off the tractor and another to ram it over the head and shoulders of the target. It possibly would have restrained a normal but not Ogre though! That is not possible with a basic ranged teleport 100kg 20m power that he does have. I allowed a break to spend experience and he could have picked a power but he has now got hold of the time traveling powers to drop a target into another time zone. His concept is not linked with time so it would be difficult to rationalise, but also very expensive. I then brought up the options of damaging by teleporting things into people (and the teleport into unconsciousness one) and then he brought up what if that object was a grenade! I then did try and explain that would be a shed load of character points and he has a limit of 60 character points. Obviously this would work in the comics and it is a logical thing you can do with teleporting! The problem is I have is that all my players do not have the rules and I try and provide the information to them but some is not sticking. I have summarised all the suggestions and given him a list of them with as much information as possible, but he has not picked anything yet.
  2. Re: “What hurts me makes me stronger powers”! Thanks for the various feedback. I run the game and I am trying to give the player help to expand the character. He wanted the ultimate damage absorbing and to feed this back. Currently he can take lots of damage(30 ED PD) but as mentioned he does not give much damage back as it takes a while for his absorption to get to any decent level. As you say it works in the comics but does not work with the Hero game mechanics. I think he got the idea from the comics and is now learning the game mechanics does not work. But he is enjoying the run they are currently having against VIPER agents I was just was trying to try and get feedback from more experienced players to keep with the concept but give him more options when they take on more powerful villains. I will probably go with the variable multipower so he can change his defence / absorption to meet the ED / PD situation he is in and just put all the absorbed damage into strength so he does more damage. I am the GM so I can change the character if he wants to.

OK I have thought about it and I am thinking of the following: Multipower 45 Absorption 15 ED double maximum effect (+1/4) Resistant defence (+1) - cost 34 / 7V Absorption 15 PD double maximum effect (+1/4) Resistant defence (+1) - cost 34 / 7V This gives the option of having 20 points of absorption split between PD /ED and up to 15 of one and 5 of the other. 10 resistant ED - cost 15 10 resistant PD - cost 15 To compensate for the reduced 10 PD / ED resistant armour. This will give some flexibility and a possibility of increasing Absorption and the multipower. All for 89 points.

Absorption 20 ED double maximum effect (+1/4) Resistant defence (+1) - cost 45 Absorption 20 PD double maximum effect (+1/4) Resistant defence (+1) - cost 45 What I have allowed is that they are effectively both bought separately for my 60 / 70 point limit for powers but I am considering them one power so that they both feed into Strength, body and stun and are not separate for stacking limits. I am sure other GM’s would not allow this. So really it is a 90 pointer combined power with the resistant defence a very cheap option for protection.

It was just a general help on a few ideas to reduce the points in the absorption and possibly link it with a few suggestions to have a "multipower" connected drain / attack. My problem being defences do not fit very well into a multipower for variability and easy to build other powers in it. If I put the absorption into the multipower I have a limit of 60 points which will reduce absorption but also limit anything else linked to it. I have 90 points in Absorption which gives 20 points of resistant defence ED PD and that also gives a boost to attack after being hit lots of times (in this case a potential of another 160 character points). Can anyone suggest a route that gives defence which can then simulate this absorption to a different power to simulate an attack that can be rerouted to different powers? The theme being you hit me and I get more powerful. I will just have to shave points off the Absorption and put them into a multipower attack somehow. I was hoping for a few ideas.
  6. I am new to 6th edition and running heroes in general. I am GMing a game and have been effectively been creating the characters for the players with more or less input from each one. One player gave me the outline of “What hurts me makes me stronger”. A character that can absorb damage thrown at him and then use it back at whoever he wants. So I built a character around Absorption with high resistant PD and ED and also damage resistant: Absorption Physical / Energy 20 x 4 storage and resistant protection (½ to strength, ¼ to stun ¼ to body) – 45 points each (The theory being that he will possibly get to 20D6 damage when at full power based on 20 start strength). Damage resistance 50% - 30 points etc Effectively 200 points characteristics 160 powers and 40 skills / advantages). But in the combat he was not getting anywhere near serious damage absorption so not knocking people over fast enough. His power trick is a move through attack to do more damage due to acceleration as well as absorbing the damage into his strength. Last night he was playing VIPER skittles taking two agents in a combined move through and bouncing them off walls with the knock back . The other characters have powers in multi powers will now gain lots of new powers at 10 points from 1 experience and lag behind with his 1:1 advancement. Can anyone suggest powers that would simulate absorption effect in a multi power that could be combined with defensive powers but be more cost effective for character points and experience advancement? Thanks for any help.

  8. Re: Kingdom of Champions 6th Edition? I am running a campaign in Great Britain and the campaign city is Oxford. It is near where some of us live and I am incorporating local places into the game. The first meeting was in a community center up the road from the where the game is run (and the wife is on the committee so had lots of background on the area). The first combat was in a factory in a known science park (VIPER on a recruit the locals with super powers) and the second was at a local farm park (a bomb appeared in the goats enclosure, but there was a few thousand people attending an open day as well!). I am swapping a lot of the US over to the UK (Half Jack is from Liverpool and the Champions are based in London not Oxford as its not that big compared to most cities). Any update on this new version of Kingdom of Champions? Can anyone recommend any other source books? I have the 6th Champions Universe which gives a little information but I am looking for more. Thanks (Sorry if I have missed other recent threads with this information in)

Well I had a player with resistant protection from physical and energy absorption running around a fight with flying VIPER agents who were firing laser rifles at the party screaming “hit me, hit me, please hit me” jumping up and down trying to get them to shoot him. He had no ranged attack so could not hit them but at least they would have wasted shots giving him extra strength and if they landed he would have given them a good thumping. None of them shot at him. Everyone else said afterwards that possibly running around and shouting “hit me, hit me, please hit me” could be the best +DCV power effect ever .

I am not sure about the tunnelling to get through doors or actually allowing to teleport the armour of anyone as it would get used on the power armoured villain (would anyone allow armour removal???). He has already removed a helmet with teleport which I think you cannot do with a grab attack. I do have the champions power book but he just wants to not give me suggestions on the end effects of his powers. And the teleport section covers damage effects from taking lumps out of people and dropping things on them and he does not want to do this (I have 2 characters in a 5 man team that do not effective take down powers!). He took the teleport unwilling 20m which he used to good effect to well and truly KO a stunned Ogre by dropping him 20m for 20D6 in a 2 phase fall (really he would have recovered enough to ready his jump to cancel it but it was a good effect to finish the combat so he was confused for an extra phase so he was not ready:)). I also gave him a 10m grab / place objects so he went around disarming VIPER agents and dropping their blaster rifles into a hiding place (effectively 10m teleport / telekinetic to and from with +10 to hit / to grab effect followed by 10 strength +2 extra body grab). I effectively want to make a list of non damaging special effects teleport concept powers that I can put in front of him and say “pick something you like and I will cost if for you”.
  11. I have recently bought Hero 6th Edn / Champions. I have a player who has Teleport powers and prefers to do things with his powers other than the simple to work out movement and damaging attacks. He says he “just wants to move several 100kg objects from A to B”. I then calculate simply moving 100kg, 200kg, 400kg to and from him. He then wants to do lots of teleporting tricks with his powers stating “I can teleport 200kg objects so why can I not, teleport the armour of Viper agents, doors from door frames, screws from objects, panels from electrical boxes, the wiring of a bomb (and it not go off), the tyre of a tractor and drop it over Ogres head and restrain him etc”. I say you can do these things to a greater and lesser effect but you will have to tell me what you want to do and I will then work out the points. I have the Champions power book but it does not give details suggestions. I am possibly thinking on a 2D6 NND / 2D6 Transform to equal the body of the object to remove door from frames, panels from machines etc. But do I also allow this to be a damaging attack on robots etc? Could people with experience of this give me hints and limitations? Thanks.
