  1. Yeah, there's a secondary reason i posted my char. It's good to know what's out there. If the GM doesn't want a team built as a team, that's fine, we'll just have to work around it somehow, or luck out and have a good balance At the same time, my char can go pretty much any way. I could focus on being a bear, and work that angle, and I could focus on being a blaster. Right now I'm more of a blaster, and hopefully that won't ruinate us in the early goings. Weird powers will be easy to add, thanks to the mpower and the concept. Enhanced senses were on the checklist, but as a secondary function, and got cut in the end. Touch appears to be a good 'brick' of sorts, though a little bit suceptable to someone like my char. Dunno about anyone else, really. As for building a team, your suggestion seems to be a popular model. The thing is, most campaigns i've been involved with have been 3 person teams. This makes for some interesting challenges. Let's see, the last group I was in had a move-through guy in power armour, a blaster, a martial-artist and a brick. I guess that's pretty standard, but lacking a mystic of sorts. we'll see how things go
  2. - you probably should not have 2 powers with the same name. You might change the Aid to "Wolf's Stamina" or something. That was actually intentional. Eventually, he will be able to bestow his totems onto other chars with further aids/transforms. They're supposed to be similar, although seperate, powers. - Normally when you buy reduced END cost on something that adds to another power, you're supposed to buy the advantage so it covers all of the power. Again, intentional. The intent was that his STR 20 is his 'normal', mutant STR. The Totemic powers are meant to be low end abilities that have to be turned 'on' and 'off'. That's part of the reason there was never an activatoin on the EC. Also, everything with this character is pending approval. He's kind-of vague in his power definition/description, and it's based on uncommon knowledge (how many of y'all are really familiar with Navajo and Hopi theology/mysticism?) - You still have an uneven split in your base PD/ED values left over from when you had the DI power. Is that intentional? Yet again, this is intentional. He's always supposed to have been better suited for taking on energy throwers than bricks. However, it does bring up the fact that 20 pd won't do him much good against another big 'un. I might add some DI to the Bear's Strength (Bears are heavy ) Thanks!
  3. I'm pretty sure any anger in my latest character's head would cause him to do some things right off the bat: 1) Try and subdue her so she can't get away. Thankfully he has an NND, and can try to cause as little BODY as possible. He's got a DF describing how stoic and calm he is, so I doubt he'd completely lose his cool. (though if she does get away, he would hunt her relentlessly) 2) Try and figure out how in the hell he missed it (he's a detective-type with a very high INT). 3) Try and figure out/solve the mystery of how his wife, a beat cop, became a super villain. Now, if it were me I might say "cool" and join her That is, until she stabbed me in the back as any super villain is want to do.
  4. Regarding flexibility I've realized a flaw of my own in character creation. I hesitate to make a 'check-list' hero type, but at the same time fear being too limited. I want my characters to have room to grow, but at the same time don't want them to be too weak to begin with. What happens is that they're somewhat homogonized. Tough, but not too tough. Generally have a movement-power and defenses that are up all the time. Have a close and short trange options in combat... I was very tempted to go with one of my frist characters that I played. He was a 250-pt, originally, and he was a ton of fun. Just a straight up 50STR brick. I think with the sort-of reorganized power structure of having 350 point characters, at least for me, it's actually limited my characer development. The short of it is, don't worry too much about flexibility. It's being not good enough at your focus that you should worry about. *starts re-working multipower....*
  5. All valid thoughts. My biggest concern was his inability to re-charge his END while in stone form. I had tried to give him a high as REC as possible, to off-set the high END costs of his attacks. I'm thinking of adding a AOE Entangle to maybe try and handle the large group of weaker enemies, as I envisioned him taking on a batman-esque role in FC, taking on thugs and low-end supers a lot more than large groups of relatively high powered supers, and such a power would not only be useful, but likely. I admit, his attacks lack a little 'punch' for 75 AP, and I might change the effects of his biggest attack. The -1/4 of it being a summoned bear is entirely unneccessary, but just a spell I envisioned. Again, I will work on this more when i have a book handy
  6. Interesting... the "R" for "revised" kinda threw me off... I kinda just threw the activation in as a representation of the somewhat randomness of getting things going, and just did it from memory... That'll teach me. Anyhow... any other suggestions design wise from anyone? Something glaringly cheesy or missing? Thanks again!
  7. Zed- Thanks for the feedback. You're probably right about the RSR. I wish I could figure out what "FREd" meant, but that's okay. It's been a while since I've done a mage-type. As for side-effects, I've been on the fence on that one since I came up with the concept. Typically, a shaman's ways (think of them as spells, I guess) don't really involve negative side-effects. There's definitely a skill involved, and it certainly can fail to work, although to my knowledge failure does not mean something bad will happen. That's not to say that a side-effect of his mutant powers could be the cause... When I have the books in front of me again, I will go back and edit that stuff. Maybe I'll have more than just 1 point left over . As for team resources and what not, I am all for everyone contributing to something. I'm just wondering if there is some outside force gathering us together, or if there's an adventure to be played in which we all meet at some big event and choose to team up. I have zero probelms spending points, but my character certainly doesn't have a good rationale (he's a PI, and his wife's a beat-cop... there's not a whole lot of money in that). What does the GM think?
  8. This is my character. I don't really know about how public you wanted the characters to be Dean, but I don't really have a problem with it, plus I'd like to get some feedback from everyone. It's a little big to just post in here, but it's all HTML. um...yeah, feedback's much appreciated
  9. good question, which is one I forgot to ask in my emails. I built my char w/ 75-point AP's, but at the same time, my defenses aren't that high. I just kinda went with creation and left myself open to adjustment without destroying the character. Yeah, it look slike I'll be joining in as well My char is a sort-of mystic/batman type character, loosely based (personality wise) on characters from Tony Hillerman' s novels (An amalgam of Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee in some ways). I didn't really know what to do for team base or vehicles either, so I just went with a character who doesn't have a lot in the way of resources, and just relies on his skills and abilities. Once I'm done editing the background and everything I will put the link up for people to gander at.
  10. I've been working on a gameworld where super-powers come into prevalence during the end of world-war II and the beginning of the Nuclear Age (for anyone who's seen the ridiculous anime Giant Robo, think of the weird radiation from the shizuma driver causing super-powers...). I decided that it would be likely that private schools 'for the gifted' would develop. In my world, they started out segregated, but that's because it starts off earlier. Considerations for the schools: How would the general public see them? Is it like the X-men, where they're feared and the schools are located away from major cities? Or are they accepted and considered a good idea so that kids might get some relative understanding of their powers and see that they're not alone? Do the schools train the kids on their powers as well as teaching them algebra? You might want to research stuff about schools for the deaf, or schools for the blind so see how their social atmospehere is as well. I went to a college that had a sister school right on campus, the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). It was pretty interesting. There are deaf frats, tons of deaf oriented clubs and orginizations, and a very high sesne of commradery (with better spelling) amongst the deaf students. It also helps the school is based in Rochester which is the deaf capitol of the world (highest population of deaf people anywhere). I think it would be useful to take these ideas into consideration when looking to create 'schools for the gifted'. my 2 cents (the rant's free )
  11. Sounds cool and all, and it might just be me, but I would expect to find this in the "Player Finder" section...
  12. not quite attached, i'm afraid.
  13. Well, on my keyboard, which is a lap-top, the key appears the same way. The way print screen works is that it will capture what's on the screen in the clipboard, and in the background. This means that you won't get a message saying "screen captured" or anything, but all you have to do is to open MSPaint (usually start-menu, programs, accessories) and then just paste the image (ctrl-v, or Edit->paste) and do a save-as. Edit: i'm dumb... just press the key to do the above. Now, I don't know what your OS is, but I have a feeling that you might not be able to save-as a JPG through paint (though you can in XP) which means that it's either going to be pretty and a huge file, or small and crappy looking. There are plenty of shareware little image-editing programs out there (try downloads.com) and any of those will likely work. Hope it goes well for ya. It's cool to see what people's imaginations produce
  14. It seems like this character would draw a signifigant amonut of attention from the GM during most times. I'm just curious as to the campaign setting. It seems that in a more basic super-team style campaign, it would be hard for this guy to share the spotlight, especially given the somewhat dramatic side effects (but, at the same time, those only happen, what 3% of the time?). As for a character who is the spotlight, I think this guy would be pretty appropriate (picture a game based on a comic like Ghost Rider). These things are always my concerns when I see a character with a VPP. I personally don't like running a game with a VPP in the party, only because it eats time from the game. VPP's in NPCs are a lot easier, IMO, unless the GM gets distracted. I would say one thing, though: The guy is not focus-based, but gets a ton of mileage from Lims that will rarely affect him. :-/
  15. In an early issue of the Avengers volume 3 (the busiek stuff... aka, the totally-awesome stuff) there's a giant screen of past avengers... there's a bunch of dead ones in there some of whom in fact come back to life when the grim reaper resurrects them and controls them... the swordsman, the almost-thor (i forget his name), and i think 5 others in that issue. you can also kill off anyone you particularly dislike and then bring them back
