  1. Re: Stunning enemies (and Dragons too!!) yep that's the problem :/ aside for dragons, most of time best attack are on bite/maws; additionally, most of the beast got no long neck so hitting the head is not difficult. i could argue this for a giant or a migdalar, but not very limiting for a wolf, bear or similar beast plus, one of the char got a pair of magical gauntlet that make him grow and use long reach weapon, so really not a big issue (but he got very low dcv while growth and spend END every segment so he ends up easily injured every fight ) for magical item i keep it very rare; i argued they need to spend characther points and/or use independent. this will make magical items very expensive and, of course, very rare. btw, in 2-3 years of gaming they aquired few rare items it's fantasy game so magic and magical item are good thing; however, i dislike dnd and videogame plenty of magical items, so i keep them veeeeeeeeeeeeery rare as for block attacks, it work fine and honestly i never used it a lot. i need to use block, disarm and bind attack more often (problem is while 5 pc vs 1 villain, block are useless: i block one attack, 4 hit me, and i can't attack anymore so next segment is same thing...) and block does'nt block magical attacks: warrior-mage of the party made a magical hand to hand attack (ha 6d6 2-shot autofire, special effect is an attack with her rapier surrounded by the light) and block does'nt work with it (or it works vs hand attacks? and what about "eb no-range"?)
  2. Re: Stunning enemies (and Dragons too!!) Oh. ok nope they get no problem so far: they never roll for hit location but always use the called shot. they also buy several PSL only to overcome called shot penalities is 2x killing damage and 5x STUNx for killing attacks mmmhhhh for really big adversary i could use "fighting vs big monster" rule, i mean you cannot head shot a giant while standing on ground the problem still are for normal sized guy, final boss for instance
  3. hi all i was planning an aeromancy teleport spell working in thisi way there is two mages, call them mage A and mage B. mage B could teleport troops (or open a gate) to A's location A and B could be a group for ritual magic, and a set of "strange things" could be necessary (ritual, arrange candlelit in a magic circle, chanting for hours, and like) how can i create it? teleport (gate) with megascale range, only to A's location? or linked with a clairsentience to A location? or whatever? ty for help
  4. Re: Stunning enemies (and Dragons too!!) well, it's not really "used their tactics" they always aim for head shots, with lot of CSL and PSL (ok for cap at 3 PSL) flash was not really a problem, it's big and they got lot of CSL; plus, attack is autofired problem is: it looks like stun damage is too much, for an high fantasy game, and they ends up stunning a lot of people and monsters too, and honestly i don't like they could so easily stun everything and everyone on the other hands, they paid for a stunning (normal damage) spell so why don't use it? of course damage reduction (i completely forgot them ) could help so also give them more STUN those one where juvenile dragon; lesser dragon would be more dangerous opponents, and greater dragon almost fatal BUT problem stay: they could face "big evil knight of the evil reign" and just beat him to stun easily than killing them sorry i don't follow you here x_x
  5. Re: Drakine pics (and other ones also) to be honest i don't like much dragonbord images; they are so much... dnd-esque plus, dragonborn female have boobs è_é (that's first thing i'm against in fantasy char conceptualization. second one is fat dwarf female...)
  6. Re: Move Through with Killing Weapons well, i'm using 5 edition btw a friend of mine checked on 6 ed too and he says it's the same...
  7. Re: Stunning enemies (and Dragons too!!) mmmhhh i think i lost you with the "8 psl means a +½" >_< btw, yes i agree, HKA got more stunning possibilities, and this arise another big question about it: assuming a 9 DC attack vs a 7 rPD / 12 PD (a plate-and-mail black orc) - 3d6 HKA goes average 11 damage 11x5=55-12=43 STUN damage 11-7=4x2=8 BODY damage - 9d6 HA goes average 33 damage (and 9 BODY) 33-12=21x2=42 STUN damage 9-7=2x2=4 BODY mmmhhhh looks like there's something wrong... are'nt STUN (normal) damage supposed to be more stunnier than lethal ones??
  8. Re: Stunning enemies (and Dragons too!!) well... juvenile dragons got 16 PD and 45 STUN while lesser got 20 PD and 60 STUN, same reduction (25%) iron lesser dragon whould got 22 PD and 60 STUN so same shots vs lesser dragon would results in: 30-22=8x2=16x0.75=12 35-22=13x2=26x0.75=19 total of 31 STUN it's ok, that does'nt one shot the lesser dragon BUT sure will stun him, made him fall if flying, lose next phase and maybe be finished in few segments btw, the dragon is still a match. ok the "problem" (that's not a real problem, just a question) is: it's funny to end an encounter with all stunned? i mean enemies too can shot at the head, hit with very powerful stunning attacks; and player will go stunned and not killed, and this could be funny for both players and gm "unfunnities" could arise when all enemies got stunned and they need to go around on the battlefield and go killing the survivors, or ends up torturing them or capturing them and like... dunno... it seems like a weird thing for a fantasy game... (but could be fun too... honestly i can't say it's more or less fun than standard lethal fantasy...)
  9. ok, i know it. Hero system is all about stun, and stunning is a fast way to finish the match btw, i got a little problem... well... it's not a problem, more a little nuisance here a player of mine made a spell. something not against the rules, something even less than most spell you can found in Grimoire and Grimoire II: Holy Light Sword: HA 6d6 (9d6 w STR); Autofire (2 shots, +¼) [37 Active Points] OAF (rapier, -1), Gestures (-¼), Incantations (-¼), Spell (-½), Extra Time (Full Phase, -½), Hand Attack (-½), Requires a Song Magic Skill Roll (-1/10 AP; -½) [Active Cost: 37, Real Cost: 8, END Cost: 4] as i said, is all in the rule: less than 40 AP, requires magic skill roll, spell limitation, full phase, focus, incantations, gestures, etc. this, coupled with some PSL and CSL that made her not-so-difficult to aim at head and today she got one single attack to a juvenile iron dragon, technically "one shot" them: she hitted the dragon with both of attack (as i said, she got enough OCV, plus dragon are big and got low DCV, and was blinded so ½ DCV...) and she got 30 and 35 stun damage iron dragon got 18 PD, but head is STUN N x2 so the poor lizard got a total of 58 STUN damage (30-18=12 -> 24 stun from first one) (35-18=17 -> 34 stun from second one) and the dragon goes down to less than -10 STUN maybe i did something wrong in stun calculation, today i was a little tired so i did some errors, btw the "question" is it is normal, acceptable, and "funny", to one-shot stun a dragon in a fantasy campaign? (players got around 210 char points so far... but very little magical items...) as i said, is not a problem: with "just" 3 point (spell's cost are x1/3 in my campaign) every evil battle wizard could one-shot stun every chars in the party, but this will be funny? or i just need to change a little something to made the game more lethal and less stunning? (like increase PD/ED, or STUN for enemies and encourage player in using lethal force)
  10. Re: Drakine pics (and other ones also) i found on google the same one i got in TA (i think is copyrighted so i can't post it here... btw i found a post by eric lofgren in a m&m forum, and it's the fifth one in the "fantasy" section...) btw, i'm not searching for a pics in particular, just searching if i can find something to show my player, here and there...
  11. hi all i'm searching for some drakine pics the only one i got is the one(s) in TA book, and few others googling them is not playing much results (mainly because drakine is a copyright term ) googling for dragon man, draconian, and (worst of all) dragonborn results very unsatisfying images: humans with wings and nothing similar to dragon, dragon female with boobs x_x and other ugly things so, there is someone who could point me to nice drakine pics? ty to everyone
  12. Re: Dragon humanoid shape shift mmmhhh the power in the book of dragon could be applied to every dragon in the book, and the smaller one is 8m tall (safe from miniature dragon and very few exception) so i suppose is for a power build error... but i could also miss something important about shape shift and shrinking for bigger-than-human being
  13. hi all i look at book of dragon and see "assume human form" (pag 21), basically a shape shift to any humanoid form then i look at grimoire 2, dragon magic section, pag 64, "assume human form". it's similar but with a big difference: is linked to a shrinking why there are those differences? ok, i understand why shrinking: shape shift allows only a 20% mass alteration so a dragon will need to be shrinked to change form. BUT this means book of dragon's power has an error and i need to give shrinking to that too? or there are another explanation? ty for help, even if this is not really a problem, just a question
  14. Re: How Fast an Horse can Go? mmmhhh i had no thought about gliding flying mount and the paladin got a hyppogrph so could really happens (no... seriously... i don't think hyppogryph could glide...)
  15. Re: Big, High Res map of Arduna / Ambrethel
  16. Re: How Fast an Horse can Go? hello again i was thinking about an omnicomprehensive rule with lot of exception covered, special situation, and heavy calculation for LTE, riding skill roll, animal empathy, and like... then i thought... "why i'm doing this? i can't use a simple rule of thumb for it?" and then the solution: a simple easy-peasy table to valuate how much a mount can go, and how long an army can march. rule 1: every mount (or people) can go for a fixed amount of time without tiring. rule 2: a sentient being can overcome this fixed mount and go spend LTE to go for another fixed time rule 3: a non sentient being (mount) can be forced to overcome this, by riding roll, animal empathy, pre attacks, etc. mobs and army count as "non sentient" being rule 4: a full trained mount can go up until 10 LTE point, then you need another riding skill roll (w -1/LTE) and another one everytime you lose another LTE again rule 5: a non trained mount can go up until 5 LTE and then skill roll w -2/LTE rule 6: a skill roll is needed even to made the mount (army, mob) go on the day after, if there still are LTE. a tired horse does'nt walk - max 8 hours/day. up until 12 hours with -1 LTE/20 min fast pace - max 4 hours/day. up until 8 hour with -1 LTE/20 min trot - max 4 hours/day. up until 8 hour with -1 LTE/15 in run - max 1 hour/day. up until 2 hour with -1 LTE/5 min gallop - max 20 min. up until 1 hour with -1 LTE/min and again, long trip are -30% traveling time, night is -60% (or -30% if you AND your mount can see in the darkness) etc
  17. Re: Big, High Res map of Arduna / Ambrethel i alrady have the big res free stuff, but as you stated it lacks all the details i could also print all the maps from pdf, cut and paste them in a big sheet of paper, then scan again... x_x
  18. Re: How Fast an Horse can Go? yeah the "walk" rating (5,5 km/h) is good is the "gallop" (15 km/h) that's not good, in my opinion i need to know... how fast a courier can go to send a mail/package to his lord? how fast can go a fugitive? can i escape from 9 horse riding wraith while wearing a deadly wounded little halfling to an elfic safe heaven? plus, in a truly fantasy world where are wizard and magic steed, griffon riding paladins and like, the table is pretty useless x_x i'm building a spreadsheet where i calculate max speed (for day, hours and like) for some riding. something like: walk - half movement at SPD 2 fast walk - full movement at SPD 2 trot - half nocombat movement at SPD 2 run - full nocombat movement at SPD 2 gallop - full nocombat movement at full SPD all speed in km/h then modifier: for more than 4 hour trip -> reduce by 30% ('cause stop for eating, rest, etc) for more than 1 hour trip -> reduce by 10% (minor stop than 4 hour trip ) nightime -> reduce by 50% also good terrain: unmodified plain terrain: reduce by 10% rough terrain: reduce by 40%; maybe you cannot gallop or run very rough terrain: reduce by 70%; most of time you can only walk, some veichles cannot go and the also rules like: walk - max 8 hours; 1 LTE/hour from 8-10 hours; quick walk - max 4 hour; 1 LTE /hour until 10th hour; then 2 LTE/hour trot - max 1 hour; then 1 LTE /hour until 8 hour; then 3 LTE/hour run - 1 LTE for first hour; then LTE cost double every 2 hour (ie 2 LTE/hour until 3rd hour, 4 LTE/hour until 5th hour, etc) gallop - 1 LTE for first hour; then LTE cost double every hour (ie 2 LTE for 2nd hour, 4 LTE for 3rd hour, 8 LTE for 4 hour, etc) of course, LTE is for Long Term Endurance and gallop for a long means "dead horse"... u.u (but special fantastic trained horse could really gallop for a long while)
  19. Hi all everytime my PC will need to travel (and they travel a lot... they started on Aarn and now are in Kirkovy...) i use Traveling Table from FH as a guideline, very very very rough guideline 'cause sometime i prefer using dramatic/narrative time "ok you get two week to go here" btw, in FH it says horse will travel at 5.5 km/h on plain road, and gallop for 15 km/h googlin here and there i found a really different traveling pace for _real_ horses: about 3-4 mph (is roughly 5-7 km/h) for walk and 30-50 mph (much more ten times!!) for gallop, really dependent on horse race, fatigue, rider, etc now, i don't ask for a gritty realistic way to define traveling time BUT it seems really not valid table :\ i checked on 5 edition FH (i own) and also on 6th edition FH from my mate, and it looked really similar... i mean identical (also the example are identical u.u) so... did someone found a better way to calculate traveling time?
  20. Hi all i found the big map of ambrethel in TA book very low res (while the single area maps are really good) so i'm planning on building myself a big high res map, to print in A2 format or just using on pc for campaign use the problem with single region maps is they sometime lack some particulars; iw if you look at central westerland's (TA60) it lacks some information on valicia and basidrun; if you look at eastern westerland (TA74) it lacks keldravian and szarvasian cities and locations so i tried scan maps from my book, then crop them, cut and paste in a single big high res map. result is UGLY 'cause scan are not equal, sometime is different scale, sometime is slightly rotate or not really good scan i tried also to copy and paste pictures from pdf, but pdf is secured so i can't x_x so my question is: there is someone else who tried it? someone else who got a big high res map of arduna (or better all ambrethel), like the one you can make cut&past-ing single region maps? i'd love it
  21. Re: Move Through with Killing Weapons ok thank you to all so, recap: - every 3" i add +1 DC (lethal weapon DC) - i don't have to halve the STR
  22. Re: Move Through with Killing Weapons yeh but for killing weapon rulebook says "halves STR for calculating STR Min extra damage/DC and OCV penalities"
  23. Re: Artificial Arm: it is Independent? ty all my last decision was a radical change. now it's an armor gauntlet, who "transform" into arm while you use. so i got independent, focus, and got no problem with disadvantage much easier, and much more setting-wise btw, ty all for the answers (ps: why forum is soooo ugly now? x_x )
