Hi all in my 5-edition turakian age campaign (very close to the one on the book) i'm planning some special "gift" (1) so, for this one characther (who got tragic past of sexual abuse and demonic possession) i'm planning a way to let her "travel to her inner self demonic mansion" i mean, something lilke a castle in demonic dimension, then they will discover this is the representation of her demonic inner self i'm planning this as a "base" used for plot devices and for roleplay hook. the problem is: i'm pretty sure they will abuse this gift, transforming it in a safe haven to go whenever they whant to avoid paying for inns, to store their loot (very poor loot but it's always loot) and like so first question is: how i can create it? like a base, or just an extra-dimensional movement to another dimension? second question is: how can i avoid abuse and transform it in a joyful and pleasantexperience? third question is: what do you advice me to avoid the standard "yet another demonic dimension" cliché? ty for your help (1) they are planning a trip on irontooth; the subsequent session they wake up 2 months later with some difference: someone got a curse, someone got married, someone got some special item more like a curse... and of course they got also special items for compensation
  2. hi all i still use 5ER for my campaign (mainly 'cause i started with it and upgrading is not easy; plus i'm very lazy ) and i sometime spend launch time at work to create adventures and planning game session; but i can't bring rpg manuals at work so i find myself in need of a pdf while it's christmas, i was planning on buying some pdf from online store, namily turakian age, bestiary and monsters, minions and marauders btw i found there is no entry for 5ed bestiary in online store, and monsters minions and marauders got no pdf... there is a reason for this? or just i got very unlucky and those are the only manuals not in pdf? ty for answers oh, and good holiday to everyone

Re: Teleportation Question (5th Ed Rev) i'll try answerin megascale question but with also a little personal interpretation 'cause of megascale, minimum distance is 1"=1km. you cannot use megascale teleport to teleport closer than 1km also, you cannot use to teleport "exact spot", just somewher closer to teleport target inside the 1km radius BUT if you buy teleport as a "fixed location only" you can teleport in the exact location, even if megascaled i personally allow to teleport to fixed location closer than 1km; dunno if this is correct rulkewise, but i allow it to my players
  5. Hi all a little question can i make an invisibility to "normal sight only"? invisibility base cost is based on "targeting sense group" not just sense... or i can just give a base cost on sight group than adding a limitation (maybe -½ or -¾)? ty for answers

Re: Campaign Concept Source: "No Ordinary Family" i think they gave kids "support-role" powers, just to make them "stay back and help"; a 15-year old speedster can outrun his parents and a 15-year old superstrong can easily get controlled by his powers and get in trouble more subtle power add more idea and fun to the show like someone said: Daphne could accidentally mind control a guy she's in love with, and the discover he does'nt love her but just being mind controlled... this could be imho way funnier than give her pyrokinetyc abilities and let her catch in fire everyone she does'nt like x.x ... ok bad example but it's first one i got as for show in general, i don't dislike the "monster of the week" concept where every single episode is a stand alone episode with made some little advance in a season long story arc, with 2-3 episodes (plus finale) into the main seasonal "big bad" story arc. this worked fine with Buffy, Angel and Doctor Who, just to name some season i really love, and also for Fringe and few other "new" series. Ofc there is a lot of things you must do to make things interesting, coherents and avoiding plothole and mistakes, and also make chars cool, fully developed but not soap-opera (like in Smallville x.x ) i think NOF is going into family comedy and building his plot with little steps toward conspiracy and good vs evil

Re: Are those PC balanced/well made? ok i strictly enforced not to increase spd (safe for the speedster but actually is the one more frustrated... he got super speed but really low way to harm adversaries so he stick staring the ceiling for longer then anyone else x.x ) main problem is what they whant on the campaign and what will be the future of the team (the classic problems: why i had to stay with those guys? why i had to fight the crime when i could be just sitting here and live my life?...) as for low defense, i run a fantasy setting and i found defense are really too powerful; maybe for supers is different; btw i based on DC:TAS guidelines for street levels powers (must be high enough to let them not die from gunshot but still not too high to treat firefight like mosquito attack...)

Hi all after 2 episodes of my (slow) running 5ED campaign, i gave my PC a boost of some point in powers; this will represent their "discovering powers" and it's part of second step in their Origins so this one incresed a little on his TK power set (and multipower). BUT there is 1 spare point he has no idea where can be spent so the question... how can he spend 1 point in a cool (but not necessarily uber-useful) power? this is his powers so far: 40 - My Mind Over the Matter: Multipower 40 points Reserve 3u - Move with the Mind: TK 26 STR [39 Active Points] Gestures (throughout, -½) [26 Real Cost] END: 3 2u - My Invisible Hand: TK 14 STR, Fine Manipulation (+10 points) [31 Active Points] Gestures (throughout, -½) END: 3 3u - Movements with a Silent Mind: TK 10 STR; IPE (all sense groups; +1) [30 Active Points] END: 3 3u - I Punch You w My Mind: 4d6 EB; BoECV (target choose MD or PD; +¾) [35 Active Points] Gestures (-¼) END: 3 1u - You Can't Stand Against My Mind: 4d6 EB; double knockback (+¾) [35 Active Points]; No Damage, Only to KB (-1½), Reduced Range (25”; -¼), Gestures (-¼) END: 3 26 - You Must Stop Before My Mind: FW 8 PD/ 6 ED; 3” long [39 Active Points] No Range (-½) END: 4 6 - I Can Stop Blood Loss: Aid (Succor) BODY 2d6 (Standard Effect 3 BODY) [10 Active Points] Concentration (½ DCV; -¼), Only to Restore to Starting Value (-½) END: 1 so he got TK (versatile), range attack (2 kind, one only for KB), defense (FW powerful) and also a support power (succor BODY) what else he can get? for only 1 point? my idea was a Enhanced Sense power but... 1 point is very low... other idea could be another power inside multipower... but what? ty for your help
  9. Hi all reading some posts in Champions Section i read and i figured out i (almost) never use IPE limitation, but sometimes my build will have some sort of invisibility. I'm pointing mainly to flight, tk and some similar power END consuming with visible effects (but not sfx) for instances - telekynesis is not invisible; btw i stated (for my tk player) that's not fully invisible: he need to point out the object, then swing the arm, and a loud "swoosh" are heard. there are no "purple tendrils" nor "glowing aura around objects" but everyone could see the object floating in the air while he's pointing it, and the noise make impossible to conceal entirely (btw he got TK in an ultra slot with a TK with IPE, so he can use tk totally invisible but at lower STR ) - same time, flight does not have to be IPE, beceause you can not see flame wings, fly boots or like, but you always see the char flying, maybe pointing the sky and jumping (or awkward flying like Greatest American Hero... ) my arguing is: if i got no advantage from an advantage, there is no point cost. So those two powers are "invisible power effect" but everyone looking at them can easily perceive the effect, and the source. Is my arguing correct? or i need to add IPE to those powers? ty for answers

Hi all i'm wondering if in the campaign i'm playing (well... i'm trying to play x.x ) my PC are balanced (i mean: not too overpower, not too underpower) and if i can use some of CKC toons for it Campaign is a street-level to low-level superhero, with PC who are normal guys/girls (a fire woman, a policeman, a doctor, a librarian and a university researcher) who suddenly becomes metahumans; behind them there is a powerful “villain organization” (named Prometeus) similar to a secret society is tied to political people, scientific and medical authorities and of course mobsters At the moment, they are starting to discover their world; Heroes is a good example of "mood" they are looking for this campaign where "meta" is hiding, not normal and no baxter building on the city at the moment they are just at street-level supers, or powered DC-TAS style; in the future it could become a mutant hysteria, a more "classic" superhero or just a plain dark-future-with-supers they are built with "theoretical" 250 points; theoretical means they actually are built with 200 points, and got +25 points last sessions (planning to give them +25 points in few sessions) level cap are: Characteristics: between 10 and 30, with just 1 or 2 more than 20 SPD: 3-6 with 6 (or a little more) just for one speedster type char CV or ECV: 6-12 Defenses: max 6 Res and/or 10 non-Res. Mainly PD/ED and rPD/rED Powers: 40-60 AP, with max to 60 AP Skills: mainly between 8- and 14- X-Offensive: 30 X-Defensive: 30 Regina Lucrezio teleport firewoman with a cybernetic eye Paolo Rossi a tk librarian, slight a little "gabriel gray" x.x Nicola De Angelis speedster policeman, fan of callahan's (and action) movies Max Shiro Giannini magnetic energy projector, animal lover who believe in aliens and alien abductions Cosma Sadoveanu criokynetic researcher/engineer so may main question(s) is (are) a) they are balanced? or they got something really really wrong i could correct? mind they got another 50 points to modify chars, remove some weakness, adding some more extras i can made them face some CKC villains? i'm planning facing them to some Eurostar thugs, naming Scorpia (without curare venom), Ultrasonique and maybe Mentalla (heavily nerfed ). Fiacho will be the "too powerful villain" they had to flee from c) what can i do to avoid unbalancing munchkinism? and d) what can i suggest them to made chars more playable and enjoyable? thanks for help it's my first (superhero) campaign and we got some problems so we play very little (once in a month? i'm saaaaaaaad about it :_( ) and not everyone seems happy with rules and/or campaign setting so the last thing i whant is busting the campaign with overpowered/underpowered PC and build errors x.x

A PC in my campaign is a teleport; she asked me for a couple of nice powers: Deassemble, Reassemble: Stretching 4”, Does not Cross Intervening Spaces (+¼) [25 Active Points] Only to Grab Objects or Disarm (-1), No Nocombat Stretching (-¼) [Real 12; END 2] Deassembling Field: FF 5 rPD/0 rED [5 Active Points]; Only vs Limited Class of Object (Ranged, -¼) [Real 4; END 1] ok ok that's not wonderful ideas but, well, just my two cents i add also some different ideas, wich you can couple to your teleport, based on your SFX - Desolidification; you quickly teleport out of phase - Missile Deflection/Reflection: you teleport away incoming attack (similar to the FF above) - Entangle: you teleport rope and bond around your opponent

Re: Campaign Concept Source: "No Ordinary Family" I totally agree: it's a family drama with superpowers then, they need to put some serious plot or subplot to support the show; in the end it could lend to a modern day iron age The Incredibles ripoff, sith family business, parents willing to protect the children, children willing to go supers, and like and i will not drop a show after few episodes; i see a season (or like) before judging a serie plus, i totally agree also on the "drek that Heroes turned into last two seasons" save for it's three season for me... i LOVED first season as well as i HATED the latter seasons è_é

Re: Partial Invisible Forcefield mmmhhh imho is fully a special effect thing btw i "steal the thread" for something similar: i planned (long ago) a char who got a special "armor"; an indistructible silver layer; she can "activate" her silver layer and "silver coat herself". BUT silver coat are instinctively secreted every time she got an attack/damage and so it's like persistent i treat it like Armor, and the partially visibile partially invisibile thing is just a special effect your case could be similar thing (or, maybe i'm wrong??? in 5ed...)
  16. ok i know it's 5th edition and i know is not supported anymore, btw this one raised a discussion between me and my mate can i use same powers two (or more) time? discussion started arguing about TK, and i wondered if i could use TK two times to lift two objects, then followed into a generical constant power maybe i got a continuous EB and i shot it against enemy1; can i shot it also again enemy2 (ofc paying double END, making a new to hit roll, etc.)? and third one? and what if the power is in a VPP? i need to place it 2 (pr 3, 4, etc) copies of the same power inside the VPP? and what for a multipower? ty for your help

Re: Campaign Concept Source: "No Ordinary Family" Im my opinion, this show is'nt a "super genres" it looks like a family comedy with powers used like hints to develop classic family comedy stories plus, they keep the "metahuman cospiracy" just to keep a door open and so they could develop supers stories later or just to made people hope they will, of course btw, i'll keep seeing the show because 1) Julie Benz and also her red haired assistent 2) for filosophycal reasons is NEVER judge a series before first season ending. or more 3) i seen just 4 episodes, maybe i'm wrong. (Dollhouse become very cool after 5-6 episodes ) 4) Buffy. Angel. Dexter. Three of the MOST BEAUTIFUL SHOWS EVER (imho) are featuring Julie Benz. And yes, i'm superstitious (ok ok... in Buffy was only for few episodes at starts and 2 or 3 flashback... but still she's the first one on screen )

Re: A funny challenge for a Damsel Brick sorry for double posting, i forgot one there is another idea i used for a cyberpunk adventure: she was called Marika and was very fun to be played and for players too Marika was a robot, an android, programmed to be the perfect secretary. Yeah, she was a commercial product and a normal, useless, feminine tool. until someone put vital information inside her brain, coded, and sent her to a "friend" with a bag full of money and a message "please protect her". so, while team was trying to protect her, retrieve information, and also being shoot by someone who was willing he dead, she was still following parts of her programs... like presenting herself with a cheerish "Hello i'm Marika, and i'm here to serve. What can i do for you?" first time she meet someone (including the PC one time a day... or enemies who shoot the pc). Or crossing a room where everyone was shooting with SMG just to answering the phone because "hei, it's ringing". Or "mute" herself while someone ordered to "shut up!" and continue talking using morse/binary code with eyelips, or tapping her finger on the desk, or like... ok maybe not suitable for your goal but this topic reminded me of Marika and she was really really fun to play

Mary and Elisabeth are two different sisters, and they can merge in one single person (Mary Elisabeth, of course)... or viceversa Mary Elisabeth is one nice girl who can split in two different girls, whatever you (and they) like the fact is, they both have little personality differences, so Mary is different from Elisabeth and both are different from Mary Elisabeth. You can play Mary and Elisabeth with very different, antithetical pesonality, and Mary Elisabeth being the average. Mary could be cold and also a bit lecherous and dominatrix, and always what to be the one who lead and the one who choose who, when and how; while Elisabeth could be classic timid and "schoolgirl romantic" and blush easily if someone/specific-guy is looking at her. M.E. is romantic but realist. You can play Mary fall in love with one teamate, and Elisabeth with a different one, and Mary Elisabeth maybe flirt with both, but really don't love anyone. etc the problem is, they cannot understand if this one is Mary playing "little innocent schoolgir" just to tease and mock her occasional prey, is Elisabeth too timid to reply, or is Mary Elisabeth and their sentiments are real! as for powers, aside from duplication (to play the "i'm one" "i'm two" trick) there is a full body mass control from desolidification to density increase 2) another of my oldest characthers idea, this time for a fantasy, was an evil wizard who was ambushed by good guys, using a really attractive girls to lure him, then disintegrating him just few seconds after he switched his mind with the girl; he was trapped inside this girl body and slaughtered all party members... but killing (in a way very evilish, and bloody, and painful, etc etc) paladin and priest he was cursed by the gods. And now he need to atone doing good he's a man inside a really gorgeous woman; so (s)he act like a bitch, like every man playing a female role in RPG/CRPG/etc. and he also like to mock other guys, wearing sexy/leather outfit etc. BUT he really don't whant to go "too far" with guys 'cause he's a male on the other side, he's sexually oriented versus the girls but he just can't easily seduce a girl who always think (s)he's a pervert male playing female role to keep things funny a) those things above are what (s)he saying; but living like a girl hes mind too is changing in a girl mind so he start falling in love with a male teamate, maybe the one who mostly refuse his "attentions" as part of the curse, he can't directly tell his past. So he cannot explain he's a man. Or maybe it's not the curse but a matter of pride c) remember: he was a really evil lord of evilness, and now he HAS to be a good guy/girl. So he could, for instance, throw a villain outside the window... just to be forced to jump outside and go save'em, or set afire a building in a burst of rage and then risk his life to save everyone original idea was a wizard for a fantasy, so lot of spell and very fragile; but you can play this with wathever you like 3) this time a new characther idea: Girl 2.0 she's an experimental AI, a robotic/android/cyborg girl created in a lab to be a step forward normal humanity, but something gone wrong and now she's free etc. she's obviously better than normal human: higher STR, bulletproof skin (or a tight grafted like a second skin, or also a Mjolnir armor...), maybe self regenerate. and of course a big array of concealed weapon her original programs was written by male scientist, also a bit pervert, so she's acting like a lecherous half-bitch. BUT she's developing a full individual personality, so sometime she act like original programs, ie lecherous and bitchy, but her sentiments are real. PLUS she really never kissed a guy and could blush if someone says something nice. where "blush" could be anything funny tied to her powers, like uncontrolled heat increase, misfire (or uncontrolled fire) of concealed weapon (like eye lasers or firing breath), start flying, or like 4) 5th edition "Conquerors, Killers and Crooks" show a girl you can found interesting; her name is Cateran, she's a naive brick with regeneration, high STR and like. she's not really "fun" save for the naive trait and being very unreliable, but you could found something useful i hope you could found those ideas of mine useful for your group good luck and let us know!

Hi all i'm planning to poison one or two of my player's chars only for plot device; this could happen by mistake (they trip on a trapwire or something else) or facing an enemy (like scorpia from CKC) or something else btw, the PC(s) has been poisoned with a rare and strange poison and only way to save their arses would be doing a specific adventure now my problem is: i need to create the poison like a transform of some sort (and this will be maybe very high in cost) and also give this to their enemy, or just planning on this without rolling any dice or like? ty in advance for helping

This was bringing a little... misunderstanding... 'cause someone thought on something more like a "modern day cyberpunk wiith super power instead cybernetics" but we all talked about it and decided for a "low level superpower"... maybe someone still thinking about cospiracy and mad scientist and like... :\ "kitchen timer" is meant to be metaphorical just to put in the "you need to rush and don't waste time" thing...

(snip and snap here and there) this is what i was thinking... a Die Hard Scenario one player (the speedster who are also a policeman, the only one with a little responsibility) found a mobile phone; he found it apparently without reason (found in the hand of a petty thief just arrested) while this one ring. it's a male saying a riddle with no much sense. Probably he will ignore then a "bomb" explode and mobile phone ring again saying "hey you left the bomb exploding? i put another bomb, you got 1 hour to deactivate..." and go on a chase against time to deactivate bombs/doing microgame (and they will need help of all member to deactivate the bombs...) this "bombs" are ultrasonic devices placed by Ultrasonique following order of Fiacho: this one gone to jail disguising for a cheap burglar to made interpol lose his tracks, but someone identified him and so he's waiting for extradiction then the plan (planned with Mentalla) is to create chaos (and blocking interpol agents) so they can free Fiacho and flee away (1). everytime they fail, someone could be dead, or wounded, or like, and something being damaged. If they don't do anything, or give the mobile to police, Fiacho escapes and bombing does a lot of damage (maybe also killing some DNPC or creating some serious problem with their lives) If they are running out of time they (hopefully) understand they don't need to waste time in paranoid actions If they understand what 's are behind they could be very honored and also gain a little reward (maybe some contacts or some helpful resources; i use resource points for base and computer and veichles so i could reward them with resource points or something similar) plus, it will give them the sensation are playing in a bigger world and they need to play heroes to save the day i really hope they like this adventure 'cause i'm spending much time creating it (but it will take a lot of time to make them cool... so i'll need a little filler to make them playing while i create this adventure... unlickily filler too need time to be created ) (1) campaing is really different from classic Champions (more like Heroes series) so world does'nt (pubblicly) knows about metahumans; they too just discovered their powers (and think they are only very few meta who just discovered their powers) so it's normal noone knows who Fiacho and Eurostar are (and they are also nerfed to fit into settings...) and maybe a little fight with scorpia/mentalla will show they are not normal
