Re: A Thread for Random Musings
"Skinny Caramel Macchiato" sounds like the "gang name" of a 2-bit Mafia thug to me.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
Now wondering what the Original Cosine was.

Re: Attractiveness - Comeliness Vs. Striking Appearance
Do you decide to fall in love? Two possible answers to that:
1) Yes.
2) No, but I can still choose how to respond to that emotion.
Feel free to pick one.

Re: Attractiveness - Comeliness Vs. Striking Appearance
In the real world some people when presented with an attractive option don't have the willpower to say "no".Correct, but it's still a choice. They just have a disadvantage that strongly affects it.

Re: Attractiveness - Comeliness Vs. Striking Appearance
For my own part, I'd say the biggest difference between (for example) failing a perception roll vs failing a social resistance roll is that there is a personal decision involved in the latter. I don't have to decide that I've failed to percieve something. But when it comes to social situations with other people, it doesn't matter how good the persuasion roll or how bad my resistance roll... I still have the option to say "No".
As a GM, the same goes for my NPCs. I don't want players to feel like they've wasted points on such skills, but in the end, I have to decide what the NPC's choice will be, based not only on die rolls, but the emotional state of the character and what sort of social interactions they've had with the PC in the past.

Re: Musings on Random Musings
Okay, 5/5 = 1. That one I can get.Argh, flashbacks! I flunked out of my Math for Physicists class. Cauchy integrals, Bessel functions... *shudder* I blame the professor's accent.
Math Meth causes flashbacks? I thought only LSD did that...

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
Should Doc Democracy and I' date=' amongst others, gloat about what happened in the Ryder Cup ?[/quote']Why not? I gloat when the Cowboys, the Bulls and the French lose.

Re: The cranky thread
May be coming down with a case of "cubicle crud" myself... right before the long weekend I took for our 10th Anniversary.

Re: Playing around with the rules...
Besides' date=' 2d9 has a range of 2-18, not 3-18. [/quote']So does d8 + d10. But I've always been fine with 3d6, so the point for me is moot.

Re: Quote of the Week From My Life.
Co-worker: "I keep setting my dvr to record "Biggest Loser"' date=' but all it records are Dallas Cowboys games."[/quote']And more recently, I've been replacing "Dallas Cowboys games" with "Mitt Romney speeches".

Re: Quote of the Week From My Life.
Hang on... I thought she was the mother of the Gorgon Sisters?Careful there. Start mixing kaiju with Greek myth and you'll end up with a "family tree" that looks like an ivy-covered wall.

Re: Quote of the Week From My Life.
Godzilla's mom is a type of cheese?No, that's gorgonzilla.

Re: Quote of the Week From My Life.
"I thought Mozilla was a type of cheese."Actually, that's Godzilla's mom.

Re: The cranky thread
Really on the verge of telling people who decide to take offense at being given instructions by tech support to quit taking things that don't belong to them. Thinking the obtuse bafflement might get them to quit snivelling long enough to finish fixing the problem. The computer one, not the personal one... that takes a lifetime.

"Printer not found? But it's there!"
Love Eddie Izzard.
And this cat.

Re: Since CoH is gone...
i'mafraid you've lost me coud you explin further??In short, it wouldn't be possible to convert CoH characters to CO, and Cryptic, having no association with CoH for some time, would have no reason to try.
-
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread
Do we play the old "Bionic Man" them, now?
-
Re: Since CoH is gone...
Some folks dislike starting over more than others.

Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread
CathyJust got back from the vet, and Cathy has tested negative for FeLV & FIV, which means we can have her meet our other cats with no issue. And she's becoming much more social already, so I think she'll be able to be adopted out with no problem.
Beautiful cat, have never seen a "tri-color siamese" like that.

Re: The cranky thread
I'm leaning toward a laptop' date=' but with a docking station so I can still use the dual monitors for stuff like photoshop and WoW. The prices are much better than I expected these days.[/quote']Photoshopping defeated enemies with their pants (kilts, whatever) yanked down around their knees in near-real-time is important.
Wait... what were we talking about?

Re: Since CoH is gone...
will players be allowed to modify HOH characters for CO play?"Cryptic hasn't had anything to do with CoH for several years, and the games use different engines.

Re: The cranky thread
So' date=' I guess bad things DO come in threes. First the divorce, then the job relocation, and now...my wallet and cell phone were stolen from my gym locker yesterday. Fortunately I had no cash and my cards were nearly maxed out already. Made all the phone calls and reports, mostly just an inconvenience. Have to request phone numbers and stuff from all my contacts now. Hope they catch the guy. The funny thing is, I'm not super-upset about it. Just taking it in stride. "S##t happens". [/quote']Might want to see if your phone company can send a wipe command to the phone, in case there was anything remotely sensitive on it.
