  1. Re: WWYCD: We hope you're feeling better now

Your character awakens in a padded cell out of costume, no mask, wearing the outfit of a mental patient. If you have powers, they don't appear to be working. If you didn't appear to be human before, you do now (Thing would now be looking like his old self Ben Grimm, for example). A nurse hears you stirring, and calls for the Doctor. You appear to be in a strait jacket

Dr. Anna Kincaid comes forward to explain to you that you seem to have come out of your last psychotic episode. For sometime, she claims, you've been under the delusion that you are a superhero. Your loved ones (some of whom maybe alive again but will of course, assert they never died) put you in here for your own good and are hoping you are 'well' again. The staff still has the costume you were found in , which looks a bit substandard compared to the 'real' one you remember wearing all these years, but if you say that the Doc will indicate it is part of your delusion, and the fact this looks inferior to your eyes is "a good sign"

If you ask about your heroic identity, Dr. Kincaid will assure you that hero is real, out and about, fighting crime, they just aren't you. If you are a public Identity hero, it seems someone else bears that mantle. If you are a secret Identity hero, even the few you trusted with your secret ID deny you ever were a crime fighter.

It seems as if either you are/were crazy, or the entire world is...

Since you're the hero of this story, you may think the latter is more likely.

    WWYCD?

(Oddly, your knowledge gained remains accurate. If your character knew of Arcadia, he still does. He/she may know the secret IDs of other crime fighters (Though they will wonder who you are and how you found out) and so on)

Tiger Shark: Lt. Briggs would be hoping and praying that Dr. Kincaid was telling him the honest-to-God truth, and would be overjoyed to see his former handsome (14 COM) human face in the mirror again. Contrary to what one might think, there are some aspects of being an 8' tall sharkman mutate that aren't all that much fun. If his buddies that went with him on that fateful raid on Teleios's island lab are alive and well again, words could not discribe how relieved he'd be to see them again. And after Briggs starts acting like his old lecherous self and starts hitting on some of the nurses (and Dr. Kincaid, if she's reasonably attractive), The good doctor will probably declare him cured and sign his release papers post-hast.

  2. Re: WWYCD: Out of Focus, in the know

Ah, this one plays right into my hands...

Wormhole: Would use his Gatemaster Belt to shift into their dimension, then sneak up on one of the aliens and say, "Dude, you know you're propably giving people brain cancer with those gizmos."

At that point, it's time to kick some alien butt. Wormhole may not be classifiable as one of the "good guys", but he won't sit on his @$$ and allow something like this to go on.

  3. (assumes you use VIPER or something like it in your games)

A new computer game, titled The Serpent's Nest, has hit the market. The gameplay is similar to Evil Genius, if somewhat more sophisticated, and the object of the game is to sucessfully build and run a criminal operation that bears a suspicious resemblance to a VIPER nest! The game has thus far won acclaim from a major computer gaming magizine and indeed, is quite popular in the gaming community. WWYCD?

A program hidden in the game is keeping track of how players progress through the game's various missions and is periodically sending that data to an undisclosed location. Players who demostrate tactical sense, ruthlessness, and/or other traits in the game that would make them an ideal nest leader are secretly being evaluated for recruitment.

  4. Re: Baseball-related characters in comics/games?

Funny you should mention it, I just happen to be working on a sports-themed villain team and this guy here, Fastball, is the first one I built. Game mechanics-wise he's complete, I just need a civillain ID name for him and I need to finish work on Background, Personality/Movitation, and the rest of his "flavor text."

  5. Re: WWYCD: The Jack-In-Th-Box Senerio

Really I only have one character qualified to handle something like this...

Hardware: "The weasel is not going 'pop' ON MY WATCH, Damnit!!!"

Hardware brings out his explosives sniffer and the rest of his "bomb kit" on this one. If this is a bomb or something else equally dangerous, he's got the tools and the talent to render it harmless. Then he'll see to it whoever's respondible (a Black Harlequin- or Joker-type seems most likely in this case) is caught and gets the book thrown at them. If this turns out to be someone's idea of a prank or a publicity stunt, they're going to get a severe and very public @$$-chewing followed up by a hard smack upside the head.

  6. An idea I was thinking about using in game later:

A research lab engineers and patients a strain of bacteria that function like microscopic, "bio fuel cells." The company that owns the lab soon begins developing a kind of battery that harnesses colonies of the bacteria as an energy source, suspending them in a gel that sustains the colonies and at the sametime supposedly keeps their rate of mitosis in check. After convincing the government that their new product poses no significant biohazard if handled properly, and printing a warning on the side of each battery just incase, these bio-gel batteries become commercially available for powering everything from flashlights, to MP3 players, to electric cars.

The question is this: What could I plausibly have happen if someone were to, God forbid, damage one of these batteries in such a way as the bacteria colonies inside could ooze out and start mitosing unchecked?

    Thanks.

  7. Re: WWYCD? Women City Savers Only

What about the digitized consciousness of a human male scientist who can control any one of a small selection of combat robots and androids at any given time (usually all males, but he decides to construct a female avatar from scratch just for this particular occasion)?

  8. Re: WWYCD: The Ghost Car

both Hardware and Tigershark: Would advise the surviving gang members to confess to their crimes and turn themselves in before The Wraith sends them to Hades. If they won't (and this seems most likely) it's their funnerals...and they won't be open casket.

Air Raider: Would see no reason to intervene unless "Jake" exceeds his brief and starts harming innocent bystanders.

  9. (Warning: yet another movie rip-off to follow)

For sometime now, there's been illegal street racing going on late at night in Campaign City. Recently, a strange black car has started showing up during the races and has already claimed the lives of two of the racers by colliding with their cars and exploding, only to regenerate and drive away afterward. After the second driver was killed, the police tried to chase down and capture the black turbo, but the unearthly car left them in the dust and mysteriously vanished a few miles from city limits.

The two dead racers do have one connection though: They were both members of a gang suspected of murdering another street racer a few months ago by sabotaging his brakes, though no one has ever been able to prove anything in that time. You're later told that the car's mysterious driver paid a visit to the old warhouse the gang uses as their hang out/garage/chop shop one night and shot the place up with a shotgun. Incidentally, you also seem to recall something very much like this happening to another car gang in a small Arizona town back in the mid 80s. (;))

    WWYCD?

  10. Ah, the deathtrap...a staple of classic supervilliany. What evil scheme de jour is complete without the opportunity to cackle maniacally as you dunk the heroes in a tank full of ill-tempered mutated seabass? :D:sneaky:

A question to all the GMs out there: Have you ever had one of your villains put the PCs into a deathtrap? And if so, what kind? And how did the PCs escape? (always assuming they did escape...)

  11. Recently, something that looked like a small spacecraft was found frozen in a glacier near the Arctic Circle. Upon being excavated from the ice, it becomes apparent that this craft is a life pod from a larger vessel. Inside, controls, readouts, and marks are in a language no one on Earth has ever seen the the likes of, but much of what's on board is recognizable for what it is. The cramped compartment is stocked with survival equipment, a cashe of hand weapons, and what can be presumed is a supply of emergency rations. Also aboad is a stasis chamber, surprisingly still functional considering how long the craft is believed to have been buried in the ice, and with one living occupant inside in deep hibernation: a hauntingly beautiful humanoid female with light blue skin and dark blue hair. Your character and his/her team have been called in to help transport the stasis chamber, which is conveniently self-contained enough to be removed from the pod without interrupting its functioning, back to an UNTIL base in Canada. Upon arival at the base, there is much debate over whether or not it would be wise to try to awaken the alien from stasis and what precautions should be taken if such an attempt is to be made. WWYCD?

  12. Re: How to build: Traffic Light Changer

    Does the Foxbatmobile have headlights?

I can't speak for the rest of the country or worldwide, but in the Tulsa and Okmulgee areas, traffic signals are equiped with a sensor that's triggered by the flashing of emergency vehicles' emergency lights. Most of them being of an older design, the sensor isn't very sophistocated and I know from personal experience that you can trick it by flashing your headlights when you're a few yards back from the intersection. I also know personal experience that you should only do this if it's absolutely necessary, and you especially should not let a traffic officer catch you doing it.

  13. Re: How to get swords on your starship

Ah, the swords in space debate...

Honestly, I share in the opinion that the dueling tradition route is the most viable way to go on this in general, since coming up with a more "pragmatic" reason that will pass muster with all the nitpickers is going to be damned near impossible. Although, there may still be some very rare occasions where using a blaster or firearm may not be such a hot idea:

"Buddy, I'd put that kidney-buster down if I were you; this place is full of ether and acetyline, dig?"
