  1. You know Sil, I kind of agree with CrosshairCollie on this one. We, too, have the tactical unity of the Three Stooges, maybe our radios should be free
  2. sigh. I posted this because at our game this weekend the topic came up and I wasn't allowed to make the roll. One of the other guys at the table said he didn't see anything in the breakfall description to support my claim and I just took his word for it and tried to find it elsewhere. Thanks!
  3. I've seen several people mention that you can use breakfall (or perhaps acrobatics) to stand up as a 0-phase rather than a half-phase action. I cannot, however, find any rules that support that theory. Can someone point me to where that's actually described? It's sort of implied in the 'breakfall' description in UMA, but still never actually spelled out. Any help would be appreciated 'cause it seems a little silly for my MA to buy TP with 'position shift' just to mimic an 'instant stand' ability.
  4. Looking at the FAQ, you say that using PSL's to counteract OCV penalties 'granted' by combat maneuvers is forbidden, and you should use 2pt skill levels to model that sort of thing. So, my question is this: I want to be good at sweeps. Now, is sweep its own maneuver and as such 2 point CSLs are adequate regardless of what I'm sweeping with, or do I need 3/5 point skill levels depending on what I plan on combining?
  5. Since copy and pasting is easy but not necessarily convienient I have copied the list of names to a file people can just grab. >> html format >> txt format Note that the text file is formatted for linux/unix (i.e. no carriage returns). And, since I was truly bored yesterday, I wrote a stupid little perl script that will give you random names from the text file. The odds of it running on anything but linux are low. >> getname List is current as of the 2/14 1:24am post.
  6. Heh, you should attach that list as a text file as well as in list format for easy downloading and use. Great list btw =)
  7. The global guardians have a house rule that is much like you are discussing. 20 points for 'global' knowledge in various areas. I suspect its been fairly playtested as a result. I'd post it here, but they have an irritating copyright statement, so I'll just post the link to it: http://www.globalguardians.com/house%20rules/talents.html
  8. The only thing I've really 'given up' by not using a battle map is wasted time. Players carefully counting out where they can go and doing that several times to look for the best way to cheese their movement. Or those that need to know measurements to the finest detail so they can best exploit the fact that they know their opponent can't both move up to them and attack them if they are 'just so' far away. Tactics are all well and good, but remember they are deciding their actions in less than a second. Letting players sit around for 5 minutes planning the best tactical approach is quite unrealistic in combat.
