  1. Re: The cranky thread Two days in a row the parking lot has been full and I've had to park on the street a block away from work and walk in. This wouldn't be so bad except they also happen to be the two days when my back is killing me and walking hurts. Doc
  2. Re: Musings on Random Musings I hate the modern necktie. It is uncomfortable, ugly, and generally in the way. And yet one is often looked down upon for NOT wearing one. The bow tie is amusing. Whimsical, even. But so few people can carry one off these days. So why did the cravat go out of style? Of all the neck ties one can wear, it is the most comfortable, stylish, and assertive of one's individuality. And it is equally casual or formal, depending on how it is tied. We need to bring back the cravat. Jabots, of course, are just plain silly. Doc
  3. Re: Answers & Questions Q: How can both of you have a royal flush in hearts? A: Simple! I used my handy euphamism decoder! Doc
  4. Re: A Thread for Random Musings One side effect of Lego conventions: you can't look at something, without wondering how to build it in minifig scale. Doc
  5. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Your new car seems to have lost a few parts. It did have tires, doors, seats, and an engine when you bought it, right? Q: Your religious philosophy textbook has answers in the back of the book? But you can't solve metaphysical problems with logic! A: I'm still trying to figure out why they left the stereo. Doc
  6. Re: Answers & Questions Q: I get that you're heading over to the vet school. What I don't get is why you're taking a machete, a blow torch, a tablecloth, and a place setting. What are you up to? A: My grandmother hits harder than that! And she's got those teeny tiny fists, too! Doc
  7. Re: A Thread for Random Musings We had a full weekend planned, but my wife canceled it because she felt overbooked. Then she came up with a bunch of things she wants to do since we now have a free weekend. Now my weekend is overbooked. WTF? Doc
  8. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... You Bastards!! Doc
  9. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Is it better to dodge a bullet and not know it, or know that you dodged a bullet and find out that your trust was betrayed? Doc
  10. Re: Answers & Questions I hate it when the page won't update until AFTER you post. I had: Q: My god man! Are you insane? Kidnapping Nobel Laureates and then crushing them to death in your infernal machine! And for what? FOR WHAT? But now it needs to be replaced...
  11. Re: Answers & Questions Q: The Joker for President? Are you sure that is wise? A: Set phasers to frappe! Doc
  12. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Apparently the land-locked variety. Doc
  13. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Why is the yard such a mess? A: Now I know I had too much to drink last night... Doc
  14. Re: Answers & Questions Q: We've been exposed to them? How soon will our bodies become all squishy and bits start falling off? A: And after you've signed the contract stating that you intend to sign the contract, you'll have to sign the contract, and then sign this contract stating that the person who signed the contract really is you. And then sign this affidavit that you are who you said you are. And provide 12 forms of photo identification. To our office in Guam. In person. Doc
  15. Re: Quotes from Owlcon - part 4 So Victor von Doom was mashed up twice? Doc
  16. Re: Heat absorption The concept of the power is kind of an All of the Above type thing. By absorbing heat he should be able to a) cool a hot room chill/heat a normal room c) take the heat out of hot objects (like a branding iron) d) put out fires e) use it as a weapon to pull the heat from a live body. It begins to look like a suite of powers under a single special effect with an aide linked to them. Kind of begs for a power framework, too. Doc
  17. Re: Heat absorption Currently, he doesn't have Absorption for heat-based attacks. But that isn't a bad idea... Transfer would let it be used as an attack... but can you do a transfer on an inanimate object? A Transfer or Aid to END is a good thought. It would let him recharge quickly, or go over his normal power ceiling and have plenty of END for extra punch by pushing his powers. Thanks for the suggestions. Doc
  18. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Bi-partisan consensus? Impossible! A: Right when I get to the good part, the network goes down! Doc
  19. Hey, folk. I'm thinking of new areas for my character Inferno to expand into... and I hit upon the concept that his powers aren't just the classic fire energy projector set, but actually run to control over heat. So the idea of this power is that he absorbs the heat from a given heat source, or the surrounding area, and holds it internally to power up his other powers. Unlike your typical absorb, this is an active power, and as he pulls in the heat, the source becomes colder, cooling off hot metal, extinguishing fires, chilling the air, etc. I was thinking of this as an absorb linked to a change environment, but it doesn't seem quite right. Thoughts? Doc
  20. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Why did they call off the strike on the terrorist leader? A: He figured that it wasn't important. Since the group that was hunting him had three of the top 10 most powerful metahumans in the world, he doubted that they'd all come for him at once. Doc
