Re: A Thread for Random Musings
I used to know a girl named Kara Zor-el. But, maybe I didn't.

Are you on a budget? or do you have as many points as you need?

Re: DEMON: Opinions (some spoilers)
One thing I would like is a bad guy organization that is exactly what it appears to be.Thus far:
Viper is basically a front.
Demon is basically a front.
The reason for this trend: DOJ is basically a front.
Whoops - probably shouldn't have said that out loud.

Re: A Thread for Random Musings
I've listened to Kara too much."One person can make a difference."
Maybe. But I'm not that person.
Rachel -- I'm pretty sure that it's the thread and not you - at least here. I think that, instead of reporting threads to Ben (et al) ... we should start reporting threads to people's mothers.

Re: I have it! I have it!
You know' date=' I noticed that the book doesn't mention some of the more home-grown organized crime groups, like the Red Neck Mafia active across the South. Totally different culture than the standard Italian mob...[/quote']I'm pretty sure that that's going to be part of Deliverance Hero. Which should cover moonshiners, home-growers, College Football (FSU, Florida, Miami), the klan, John Lee Pettimore, Boss Hog, and pretty much any Burt Reynolds movie.
Look for Deliverance Hero in your FLGS in 2006. Only from Hero Games.

Re: I have it! I have it!
OK - I've seen it. It's on my hard drive and stuff. But I can't hold it yet ... and that makes me sad. It should make you sad too.

Re: I have it! I have it!
Haven't reached the Super-Skills section' date=' yet, but it's a good enough read to keep me going through it so far. Lot's of interesting stuff.[/quote']It's by far my favorite book we've done to date. I read most of it during layout. Steve has outdone himself with this book.
I can't wait to see the finished product!!

Re: I have it! I have it!
I'd just like to say that I don't have it yet.
Just wanted to chime in - as sad as that makes me.

Re: AWESOME Cover!
I just have to say it: Storn' date=' you've outdone yourself. The cover for [i']Dark Champions[/i] is incredible. Awesome work. ... Wonderful!-- Scott
I agree! This cover kicks ass and takes names! It really captures the feel that *I* think Dark Champions should have. Having seen the book itself - Steve's outdone himself. Really.

Re: Use of Mutants and Masterminds
More shameless plug, this time for Hero:The dark champs cover is done and I think it is one of my best. I just saw the first draft for tradedress from Andy and it is coming along swimmingly. I expect a sneek peak of that closer to Gencon, but it is coming.
I think that we'll post the Dark Champions cover next week or the week after. But, Storn does not lie -- this cover rocks on toast!
Great work!

Re: Thanks to Keith Curtis...
Thank-you, thank you, everybody!I have been sweating the debut of this product for many, many months. Although Allen and Jason wrote it, I have been thinking of it as "my" book due to the number of maps and the responsibility of the cover.
Thanks.
Keith " :celebrate" Curtis
Keith,
I think of this as your book too! Great work - as usual.
Hugs and kisses,

Sidekick is available at DundraCon this weekend and should be in stores soon.
So, if you live in the Bay Area -- drop by the booth and pick up one -- and the Hero System Vehicle Sourcebook as well.
Or, if you don't live in the Bay Area -- look for both at your FLGS soon.

Everytime I see or hear someone say "Father Christmas". I jump to that Kinks song ...
"Father Christmas, give us some money
We'll beat you up if you make us annoyed
Father Christmas, give us some money
Don't mess around with those silly toys"
Merry Christmas to all -- and to all a good night. (six weeks from today -- had to believe).

Naming Secrets
Speaking of people's names... Just wanted to throw a shout out. In the park: the English Garden is named after Steve's Dad; I think that the Avairy is named for Darren's dad and the sports complex is named for my dad.
Each of the Statues is named for a former Hero "big wig" -- except the one that is named for my friend Chris (Lightning Rod was his character).
There -- hidden secrets from the Park.
Peace out -- Andy

Keith's the man
I cannot say enough good things about Keith Curtis' work in Champions Battlegrounds. He really helped make this book.
Andy

Hi. Keith Curtis sent this to me and I thouhgt that I'd post it. (Thanks Keith!)
If you're SOB preview map looks bad -- here's what you need to do. In Acrobat 5 (I am not sure if this works in 4 or not). Go to Preferences and then to Display. About 1/2 way down, you'll see "Smoothing". Make sure that Use CoolType is on and also check the "Smooth Line Art" box.
That should fix any display problems you might be having. In the final release of SOB, I'll try and see if I can save this preference "on".
Thanks -- Andy Mathews

I am in "scenic" Lynchburg. Which has less to do with hanging people and more to do with some guy named "Lynch". Who knew?
Andy

Ah -- smell the excitement! I'm a big SH fan. And (I am happy to report) Scott has agreed to do some art for the upcoming Champions Battlegrounds book.

Scott -- if you're around, could you please contact me at andy@herogames.com?

I once saw a guy I played with (let's call him Steve) convince a GM that he should be allowed to have an NND Entangle. His defense was that it was only "1d6". It worked for about 1 game -- then the GM was wised up by several players.
Holy Cow!!! Checkout CKC page 135, first column, bottom... wonder how *that* ended up in there??

Some more stuff that (I don't think) has been mentioned.
We Can Be Heroes, The Wallflowers - from the Godzilla s/t
Black Hawk Down (s/t)
The Hunted (s/t) Kodo drums and all
Metallica S&M
The Usual Suspects (s/t) (great for mystery stuff)
Peter Gabriel's Passion (great for desert, mystery stuff)
Peter Gabriel's Rabbit Proof Fences
Training Day (s/t) good urban stuff
Vangelis, Mythodea
The Eagles, In the City
>> There's a John Williams fanfare collection that features: Duel of the Fates, the Atlanta Olympic theme, Indiana Jones theme, Star Wars title and a bunch of other stuff. I cannot recommend that enough. Great stuff.
That's some of the stuff I listen to while preping for games and (when there's music available at the game) would like to listen to.
