  1. Re: WWYCD: The Gift Horse

My character would trust the vehicle only as far as he could throw it. And seeing how he isn't all that strong, that wouldn't be very far. He would send someone else in to look at it, and take it for a spin. Only after using others to take a look at the vehicle would he feel safe to even enter the vehicle.

  2. Re: Ye Ole Wheel of Time MAGIC SYSTEM

What about various differences in strength when it comes to specific types of weaves? I think that might work better as a skill roll for each weave group rather than one or skill rolls based on affinities. Nynaeve would have a high healing skill roll, while Elayne would have a low one. The situations would be reversed when it came to terangreal weaves. Then again, you might want a basic skill roll that isn't as effective as the specialized ones, so that the specialized ones denote extreme skill in that area rather then the possible weakness. I don't know, what do you think?

  3. Re: NPC Help:The Order of the Cross

I'll get to working on a group, but how you do their motivation can be as compicated or as simple as you like. Looking at this as realistically as I can, I think the church would call on the book of Enoch to make sense of what is going on. It is a wildly debated work, seeing how it is not in the Bible but is quoted in it. It tells a more in depth tale of Genesis 6. It seems the "sons of God" or the Nephilim were supposedly demons taking on human form so they could sate their lust for women. These were incredibly powerful beings, being demons and all, and they had powerful offspring ("heroes of old"). They also brought magic to the world. This was all pre-Noah. Now scripture says in the end times it will be like it was in the days of Noah. This could quite easily be taken to mean like it was described in the book of Enoch (supposed period, many issues though). That would mean they would view "specials" as half demon, sorcerers at best, and full fledged demons (Nephilim) at worst. This would be an obvious herald of the end times and seeing how the Church was not raptured they would view it as their duty to fight the encroaching evil, and they would probably be waiting for the anti-christ to show up as well.

  4. I'm trying to work on a 300 to 350 point hero who can control light. I want him to be just beginning to learn how to use his powers so I'm not sure what to give him. I know there are tons of things I could do if he was more skilled, but I'm not sure what powers to give him initially.

I was thinking on giving him energy blast (laser) in his ability to reorder light, flash, and basic invisibility. In the long run darkness, images, clairsentience, enhanced senses and I know I've forgotten a few I was thinking of. But what should I give him starting out? How powerful should he be? I can't rationalize giving him force field or armor, so should I buy DCV to make up for that? What do you think?

I kind of wanted to make him a somewhat skilled fighter, not super hero level, but maybe action movie level. Do you think this would be out of concept? I'm still in the conceptualizing stage so I wanted to know what you thought.

  5. Re: The (Super) West Wing

Absolutely brilliant. It has the flow and the characterizations down right. Wouldn't happen now of course, well, unless some necromancer in super world brings Leo back from the dead. That's always a possibility....

  6. Re: Schmucks?

I had to push to allow my GM to allow us 300 point characters as compared to 4ed 250 point characters in the champions game we are about to start. To top it off, there is a 60 active point power limit on all offensive and defensive powers. Do I feel insecure about the fact that everyone in CU is more powerful than my character? Darn skippy I do. Actually, my character is a starting out superhero. Starting out a little weaker than others, but starting out just the same. There is some advantages to "growing into" your role as a galactic defender. I'm crossing my fingers for 5xp missions though. I don't want to remain at 300 for long.

  7. Re: Prophesies of Doom

The PCs don't necessarily have to die. It could be the start of a new campaign where the PCs must learn from their failure and redeem themselves by undoing the disaster (or lessening its effect somehow) they failed to prevent. Alternatively' date=' their descendants can try to succeed where their ancestors failed.[/quote']

But then there wouldn't be closure....

  8. Re: What is it about Champions?

When it comes to bad games, I have to jump on the Anti-Vampire bandwagon. I don't particularly dislike the story heavy system, it's just the fact that only teenagers who think they are dark, moody, and philisophical (and are actually just whiny, and anti-social) want to play the game. Then again, my viewpoint is limited to my experience.

  9. Re: Good Cop Bad Cop

They would not necessarily have to work with the authorities to try to clear their names. They are suspects precisely because the authorities are corrupt.

Which is why I said they should be suspects. My authorities being corrupt remark was actually commenting on the locals asking help from the heroes to help solve a crime, or a situation.

  10. Re: What Da Hook Gonna Be?

How about all the characters are thrown in prison for being suspects for the same crime. Granted, I as a general rule don't enjoy the whole working together with the authorities in a fantasy setting, because quite honestly, in a setting like that, the authorities would be horribly corrupt. Well, maybe if you had nuetral and evil characters just out to gain favor....

  11. Re: WHy does everything have to be by the rules?

I believe the original point of this thread was actually concerning the Nilbog, who is healed by damage, and hurt by healing. Atleast, I think that is what put the idea in his head. The point is, what if you want to do something that would be incredibly difficult to work out in the rules. If it makes the game cool that the enemy can melt into walls, and then come out of them whenever he wants, does it make that much difference if you tie the desolidification to the material he melts into? Then again, I might be entirely wrong.
