Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
"We're the subprime mortgage of superhero groups." <-- strangely, this did not inspire confidence.
Character A has been having some problems with his powers - they keep futzing out, and he doesn't know why. He has borrowed a blaster and some armor from Primus. Just before the PCs jump into a trap, and begin combat, one asks:
"You did practice with that pistol, right?"
A replies "I played a detective in a play once. He had a gun."

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Packing peanuts? Luxury. I had circus peanuts!Hah. I had a thin layer of plastic film. At first, I thought it was cling wrap, but then saw one lone remaining bubble in the corner. Mashed completely flat it was.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
At long last they have arrived. And I would like to say that it was a good thing they were packed in two boxes - because the outer box had a good sized tear in it. (Maybe the box alone was heavy enough for the post office to justify using the forklift, I don't know). Hopefully other people have good news today as well.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Another day, and still no 6th ed. I must admit that each day makes me rethink my purchase. I understand delays. I understand shipping problems. But at least 32 days will pass from the time the first person reported getting it until I will get mine - and that is if I actually get it on Monday.
Yeah, I'm venting a bit here, and there probably is a bit of sour grapes too. But the 6th ed pre-order was one of my "must-have" purchases for GenCon, and I am a little annoyed that I still don't have it yet.
-
Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Found out the other guy in my gaming group who also ordered 6th ed at GenCon doesn't have hit yet either. I can officially start worrying on Monday, right?

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Yay! UPS arrived. . . .
with boots for my son.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
But I am left-handed. And also still without books.
Looking back, I have barely looked at the CD with the pdfs. If I had to do it again, I would have chosen to support my FLGS, and picked up something else at GenCon. The extra delay is not worth the CD, IMO.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Or, I could just make a phone call or two, and probably have a second copy at my house by Saturday afternoon. The discount price will probably pay for most of the overnight shipping.
And, as an added plus, when my GenCon copy arrives, I would have a spare to serve as a loaner.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
One million dollars. No, wait, Make it two. I got bills to pay.
Will you take a post-dated, out of state, two-party bad check?
-
Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Actually, we all did. We're just not going to tell you that....
Wait... did I just say that out loud?
Heh. And which one of you got my copy by mistake, and how much will it cost me to get it back?

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Well, it is comforting to know that there is comfort in my misery, I guess. I was hoping that at least one of you would have gotten yours today.
-
Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Nope. Nothing again today.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
I feel optimisitc: I hope for a Friday delivery' date=' as I have Friday off, and thus would be able to spend the day perusing the tomes.[/quote']I'm feeling pessimistic, but that's because I know that I have at least 1d6 of unluck, and probably more.
(Friday would actually be bad - our Champs game is Friday night, and it would be cruel to try and run a game with the new books just sitting there, staring at me.)

Re: A Storeowner's First Impression
Rifts is a system that you need to buy a lot of stuff for, and some of it contradicts itself, but the game is still fun to play. The fact that you don't like it doesn't change the fact that people do.Yet, people who don't even PLAY the game buy all those books because the world itself is interesting.
Art does not lie. It merely creates interpretations. You just happen not to like that interpretation.
I thought much of Rifts was interesting (and have thought about trying to get a bunch of the sourcebooks if I can find them cheap and porting them over to the Hero system), but stopped playing after the first session, when I realized that magicians do SDC damage, and everyone else does MDC damage.
It was very disappointing to realize that your best spell is somewhat less effective than a spitball in combat.
Generally very nice artwork though.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Nothing for me either. Not sure if the others in my gaming group have their copies either, actually.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
It's bad when they leave three dice at the door. And even worse when they leave the shattered remnants of three dice at the door. . .

Re: A Storeowner's First Impression
Maybe a picture of an orc battling a cyborg ninja monkey space pirate dragon riding a stage coach at the bottom of the sea with his fireball spell and an M16? Yeah' date=' good luck with that graphic.[/quote']That would be soo kewl.
Maybe I can commission an artist or something. . .

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Well, if mine was sent via USPS, I have to wait at least until tomorrow. Nothing again today.
-
Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
I am still waiting as well.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
I have released the mule after giving it a solid wiff of the essence of APG...apparently this is the secret motivator.I could order APG directly, and the two orders could have a race across America to see which one gets to me first.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Huzzah for Maya. Now go turn that zombie mule around and kick it toward the midwest.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
Geez' date=' if you're in the absolute last batch out the door and everything goes as slowly as possible across the country, you should still have it late next week. So if, I dunno, Monday the 23rd rolls around and it's not there, then probably some one has blunder'd. dw[/quote']Actually, if the GenCon orders are sent via USPS, then I should not expect to see mine until about a week after everyone else sees theirs. It is not uncommon for me to get flyers for sales which have already expired, political advertisements for campaigns that are already passed, and the other day, I just got a mismailed postcard telling Mr Lincoln to avoid the play.
ETA - Not in today's mail. Maybe it went UPS instead. . . .

Re: Order of the Stick
What I want to know is:
when did raining arcane destruction cease to be an appropriate response? It always seems to work for Xykon.

New one is up.
Not on my watch, Pigtails.

Heh. Definitely quotable.
Wow! You have pretty cool armor for a midwife.
Classic Elan, so close, and yet so very, very far from the mark.
