  1. Re: Qusetions on ultras I am glad someone answered this... ermm asked it... I had the same kind of question...
  2. Re: Unofficial Welcome Mat (For New Members) I am new... thank you
  3. Re: How would you create this power I, personally, would use a linked telepathy (with a limitation, only to enter dreams) and either desolidification orrrr... if you treat dreams as existing in an actual plane of existence some form of extradimensional movement
  4. Re: movement Hey Th1a...can I get a copy of that spreadsheet?
  5. Re: Is STUN more important than BODY? Thing is... in real life... you do take a lot of "stun" from "Killing attacks" Getting hit with a 9mm round even while wearing a flak jacket hurts... and feels like you've been hit by an inconveniently large warehouse... I personally like the stun vs body rules... Boxers beat the living tar out of each other in many situations... but rarely is anyone suffering much body damage... it's all stun... endurance that recovers... most of the time, after the fight, they can both walk and talk and are not in any life threatening danger.... just seems realistic to me... at least moreso than D&D and RiFTS
  6. Re: Memory Edit Power Think about this... In Vampire the masquerade it is a common power... Star wars roleplaying game... Jedi mind tricks can to the same thing... Rifts, there are spells and psi powers that do the same thing... Ran all those and it's never been unbalancing or even an issue... This is a power requested by a player... and while it is powerful... I am goign to limit it so that it is not unbalancing... as for being on the recieving end... the group I play with has always worked on the concept that if the pc's have a capability, it is possible that the NPCs do. So... anyone that has Psi ability or training in the campaign has a chance of mental defence... meaning, that the power is not garenteed to work on everyone. The average person can be brainwashed with it... but how is that differenct from using any powers on the normals? There are mechanisms in place to maintain balance in the campaign, but I thank you for your concern...
  7. Re: Memory Edit Power I am making its scope rediculously limited... and the game we have emigrated from had the thing he is shooting for as a low grade power... I am writing it up to function like white wolf's MET forgetful mind power... scope is limited, cost is high... balance is preserved... and frankly... any transform power has the potential to be hazardously unbalancing...
  8. Re: Memory Edit Power After thinkin about it... I like the idea that if he succeeds by enough it is permenant, otherwise it returns... and I have discussed it with the player... and he agreed to it... so... it works... Thank you for the help guys...
  9. Re: Memory Edit Power aha! that... sounds functional... still crunchy... but that'll do pig...that'll do
  10. Re: Memory Edit Power Thig about transform is that it heals back... the player doesn't want it to be healed... he wants it gone forever...
  11. Re: Memory Edit Power *grins* It is just that I have asperger's syndrome... and that makes me VERY literal... I like the way you explained it... and that should work well for my purposes...
  12. Re: Memory Edit Power I had thought about it... but the text of mind control didn't seem right for it... and what limitation? lol... I have had the system for a while, but I am only now really starting to work with it
  13. We want to be able to edit the memory of a subject... make them remember things that didn't happen, or make them forget things that did... and I cannot even come up with ideas... *sigh* That's not entirely true... the only ideas I can come up use transform... and that seems... a bit clunky so... any suggestions?
  14. Re: HERO 5th LARP? seee...I whoollllyyyy disagree... the MET rules are chunky at best... with one test, then each player can retest once from abilities, powers, willpower and finally a stat war with Crushing someone in an overbid.... so... count em that is 3 retests aside, with an over bid attempt, and the base one, meaning EVERY step of conflict resolution can be retried up to seven times... a 5 round combat with more than 5 people can take over an hour DISCLAIMER: EDITED DUE TO THE FACT THAT I AM LISDEXIC
  15. Re: HERO 5th LARP? at one time, we had a long running Film-Noir/supers and psions game running on campus... as part of the rule was consensual reality (a bit like mage teh ascension, where the sleepers disbelief could harm you) so the charavters were not costumed, but had realtively cosmic powers... We have a magic system in place limiting the power of magic to 9DCs starting... and probably, for LArp puporses, capping it at 12, just lke everyone else, and non damage spells are classed in 30 active point increments (requiring a perk)
  16. Re: HERO 5th LARP? Seee... we want anyone to eventually take anyone down, it destroys the fun in a boffer larp if'n you can't hurt the guy at all... hence the reason we were talkin translating armor into additional body... we were going to base it on 3dc's ... as for the chip issue... we were going to use expendable paper tokens (rip it when you use it) and print up a new batch (different color) for each session.. cbikle: we already have an idea if we choose to NOT boffer it... we have two prototype DICE-O-MATICS already made.
  17. Re: HERO 5th LARP? ok... at this point..for boffer sake..we are considering translating armor into aditional body, and then restrict all damage to killing and rank it based on a) standard effect and number of dice... name tag indicates how many hits a character can take at 1,2,3 or 4 d6
  18. Re: HERO 5th LARP? ok... I feel dirty after that... but where in the thread did we say super heros? this is a fantasy setting... we are using the HERO SYSTEM... but we're not building a supers larp... besides we're discussing this as an excercise in mental accumen...
  19. Re: HERO 5th LARP? and Anomally...I know you personally...*wink* you just gonna quote? lol
  20. Re: HERO 5th LARP? Here's the issue... while I agree teh speed chart is excellent for who goes first... pen and paper trackng... destroys larps... period... I've seen several trys at it, and none were successful... and that is why we're trying to come up with a different dynamic
  21. Re: HERO 5th LARP? Hal "what do you want to model in HERO?" THAT part is taken care of... my warped group of friends and I are using a system for creation that we've used in a lot of our games... Race and class package, (maybe 30 points total) and the rest into customization... we have the modelling aspect down... I would really like to see that WoD boffer... DUST: that is HILARIOUS! Trystan: I have been rolling that around... and knowing Larpers as I do... I am concerned about cheats, etc... as opposed to chips... I am thinking end tokens of paper... rip it up, simplify end reserve to a daily basis... as ffor WoD... no... MET is STILL PLayin with rock paper scissors... the camarilla is using cards to prevent cheating... I have a staff and playtesters and one of the most devious minds I have ever seen workin with me... if there is a hole in something, corey WILL see it, no question... so... we go from there.
  22. Re: HERO 5th LARP? See, I thought about that too... but a... I dun wanna make 200 little boxes (most of the larps we run end up with that many players) if we're gonna do it... I am trying to come up with a system that is diceless and lends itself to boffer if er decide to go that way
  23. Re: HERO 5th LARP? the idea is to build characters using the HERO 5th and make a rules adaptation for the larp... the customizability is EXACTLY what we want... and that is why this excercise...to see if we can do it...
  24. Re: HERO 5th LARP? ok... 1) grins* having been an ST for Federation of Live Action Gamers, a WOD larp and an official Camarilla ST... I am familiar with how they go... 2) we're thinking more social, but combat DOES happen... so we want streamlined efficient rules... no "retest this and retest that" and no Cthulu live/ Amber diceless live where ALL the weight is on the st's... 3) we're debating non-physical conflict resolution versus boffer
  25. Re: UV vision Are we discussing rules or science? cause scientifically speaking, at night, there is not enough uv radiation to see by (equip a video camera with a 2-14 nanometer pass through filter and you will see this)... if you have an ACTIVE uv source, then you could use teh same filter and get a picutre, but it is easier to use infrared LEDs and a 400-600 pass through... just my two cents...
