  3. Re: Hero Miniatures battles.... Yeah... that was one of the problems we encountered... I have a 8x4 table with the terrain... that first shot was at one end of the table to the other...LOL we were thinking of limiting range based on "the fog of war" a battlefield QUICKLY becomes smokey and hard to see... as for the "unrealistic" range rules in most minis games...I wouldn't say they are so truly unrealistic... I believe they don't explain themselves properly, and as such don't have the right FX... I mean... In texas, two men break into a bank with some body armor... and police well within the range depicted by minis games and scored no hits. I believe the rule has nothing to do with the weapons themselves, but the adrenal response of the body. which reduces the inherent accuracy of even the most elite trained individuals..

We looked at the rules for the Miniatures games we were playing and lightning struck... why not use the hero system for miniatures combat... as in large scale army movements, etc... we learned a couple lessons... 1) AOE is a mistake on the field of combat... we spent 25 minutes setting up (used a modified VOID deployment scheme) first shot- a relatively powerful aoe attack... landed perfectly... and obliterated his forces to the man. We just stood there fro a good minute with our jaws unhinged... and then burst into fits of uncontrolled laughter... 2) high movement rates were just as silly... I built an elite unite that just destroyed his front lines before he got a chancec to twitch... We am not smart... soo we look to you guys... anyone wanna try to help put together a hero minis setup?

I was working on a a space opera setting... the local gaming shop owner handed me a copy and I was hooked... I know Dr. Anomaly in Real life... I am just now... learning the intricacies of the more complex aspects...

  14. Re: Battlesuit build. We've done both methods in my Star hero space opera... There were some that were built as vehicles... those were ...not so much generic, but like small mecha (think glitter boy from rifts) and then we've done a couple as foci (think iron man... from iron man...) as a player I prefer the the OIF powersuit over the vehicle, but the vehicle can be a great deal more powerful with the 1/5 ratio on points For the remote...   16. Re: HERO Combat - I love the options Thia: tristat is flexible...but at it's core, it is hero with set effect on every ability... was fun, easy... but I like the ability to do simple or NIT PICKERS ways on everything in hero... better to go to the source, really

Re: Capital Class Weapons & Armor [HERO: Combat Evolved] I personally used a house rule for personal weapons, mounted, ship board and capital class weapons... going up the scale, personal weaponry (rifles and such) cannot harm combat ready vehicles (apc's and tanks) unless specially designed for it (such as a rocket launcher like the at4... a standard fighter would be fairly useless against a capital ship unless it had weapons specially designed for the purpose (as depicted in wing commander...) coming back down the scale, each step is an exponential increase in damage... capital to space craft x2 damage space craft to small craft x2 damage small craft to human x2damage sooo... if a capital ship managed to hit a person.. it does x8 damage..and a tank would do x2 against the same man... it was just something that we came up with... but it seems fairly close to what I have experienced in halo...
