  1. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

I discovered that the lunch I've been eating nearly every day for the past month only contains 1280 calories. (Wendy's Spicky Chicken Sandwhich plain, med fry, med ice tea, and med chocolate frosty.) I have no idea how many calories I consume on a regular day of eating (ie good breakfast, nice morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinnner, and before bed snack; I'm pregnant...what can I say :P), but I'd guess it's somewhere around 2500-3000 calories. I guess. Might be less as my snacks tend to be granola bars or something healthy, and I rarely eat less than half of what's set before me for dinner.

And to top off things, I lost 6 pounds between my March 28th and May 2nd doctor's appointments. :D

Just an interesting fact for myself today that I thought I'd share.

Makes no sense to you, but you're still doing it. I mean, obviously it matters to you otherwise you probably wouldn't have brought it up. Your response wasn't, "w00t! Sister's having a baby too!" It was, "I wonder if she's doing this because I am?"

Not trying to be snarky or anything. Just something I don't understand.:o

It's a girl thing. Especially a pregnant girl thing. So you really wouldn't understand. :P I can't even explain it ot myself. And I suppose it's beginning to not matter much to me anymore...even though I still question her actions.

  3. Re: Musings on Random Musings

That whole "OMG, so-and-so's having a baby, we need to have one too! Quick!" thing just really baffles me. I've seen it happen quite often, and I really can't comprehend it. The worst one I ever saw was a good friend of mine and his brother got in a sort of "race" to see which family would get pregnant first, with the "winner" being able to name their son after their father. They actually generated a lot of bad blood between them because of that. It was simply bizarre.

There's a lot about the whole childbearing thing that I simply don't get, no matter how I try to wrap my head around it. :straight:

I can't help but think part of my SIL's thing is wanting to give my mom her first grand-daughter (she already gave my mom the first grand-son when she had my nephew). Makes no sense to me...but...what can I do about it?

  4. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Turns out my SIL is only 5 weeks pregnant.

However, makes one wonder if they started trying after DocO and I announced we were pregnant. Also makes me wonder if they started trying and didn't intend to get pregnant so quickly (she had a hard time getting pregnant with my nephew...I think my brother told us they had been trying for a couple years when they finally got pregnant).

*shrugs* We'll see. I'm sure they'll call me after I get home from work. We'll see.

  5. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Had our 16 week appointment today.

Turns out Gamer Pumpkin didn't want us to know the big answer: Boy gamer or girl gamer, as the only view the doc could get was of the back of the head and spine. :P So, we have to wait until next month to find out for certain. :P

  6. Re: The cranky thread

My SIL is pregnant. She's 5 weeks behind me.

Something tells me it wasn't much of an accident...or they had been trying before we got pregnant and just never told us they were trying for another baby when we announced.

    Grumpy grumpy grumpy right now.

  7. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Well, there is a difference between not wishing someone well and wishing them ill. :)

And you may be right. But I probably still wouldn't sign the card. But then again, I've never claimed that I'm a nice person. :D

    I totally hear ya.

I do wish her well, though my ever hopeful side wishes her well enough to see that people here don't like the way she acts and that she changes herself in that way. *shrugs* There's just something about people with that "I'm better than you" attitude that rub me the wrong way, and she's one of them.

When it comes down to it, if a card is passed around, I'll probably only sign my initials or not sign at all and pass it along.

  8. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

I'm am the...most crass person in the office today.

Our favourite office butt-kisser is out because of surgery (she had a hysterectomy Tuesday). No on in the office can stand her...and we all make crass jokes about her being the office slut and...well...doing things to the boss to get ahead (things that we joke require knee pads).

Anywho. One of the managers asked us if the company had sent her a get well card. We told him no. He acted...disgusted (even though he is like everyone else and can hardly stand her) and said he'd go get one later.

So, that begs the question, what do you sign on a card for someone you don't really care for? I mean...something like "Don't worry. You'll be back on the knee-pads soon. Get well soon." doesn't seem very...PC (not to mention appropriate, even though that's what we're all thinking). :P

Oh well. Such is drama in my office. :D

Digestive tract viruses just bite the royal moose member. At least I'm past the stages where (1) I daren't get more than 30 feet from a toilet due to lower end emissions, (2) I daren't get more than 30 feet from a toilet due to upper end emissions, (3) think the stuff bubbling up from my stomach smells like burned popcorn, and (4) feel like eating and drinking absolutely nothing, even though I had to be verging on dehydration there. I am still in stage 5, which means I'm physically weak and unable to concentrate.

BTW, stages 1 and 2 overlapped but were not the same. (Nothing like sitting on the pot with a ready bucket in your lap.)

My condolences. I had that almost 2 weeks ago now. It sucked...big time.

Right now my only complaint is that I ate too much at lunch (I always know I should stop while I'm ahead and then I don't and feel slightly pukey till the food digests), and I am extremely tired...nearly to the point that I feel at times as though if I close my eyes, even to blink, I'll nod off for an uncertain amount of time. Not a really good thing due to the fact that I am at work and have to drive myself home in 2 hours.

I'm wondering what would happen if I threw my computer out the window. It's irritating me today...as our internet is being craptastically sucky and won't load all the websites we normally use.

On the downside, it would mean I'd not have a computer to use the rest of the day. On the plus side, it would mean I would get a new computer out of it, and be able to get all my "busy" work done (like pulling invoices and matching them to check stubs, goodness knows I've not done that in a good month). :D

Hmmm...looks like I'll be researching the requirements for substitute teachers here. Might be worth looking into as I've got about half of my teaching degree credits taken care of...with a strong desire to go back and finish it out so I can teach. :D

  12. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread

    Yay!

Got DocO his new car...well, for him at least. :P It's on 'o3 Mazda Tribute. He signed away his life last night and drove away in the car like 2 hours later. :P

Now we just have to get the rental car back to the place by Monday. We're hoping I can take it back tomorrow without Doc there...being as his name is the one on the rental agreement. *shrugs* We'll see. If worse comes to worse, we take it back Monday morning, and we'll both be a little late for work. No worries there.

  13. Re: Musings on Random Musings

Ditto. Hope you don't get stressed about it. L'il bub may pick up on it.

    Thanks.

And I've been trying to not stress too much. Especially now that I know we found a Mazda Tribute last night that we both like. Now, it's only a matter of waiting on the check from the insurance company (which will be used as the downpayment). :P

  14. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Car accidents are such a hassle.

    Especially the aftermath.

DocO was in a minor one-car Sunday morning. (He's fine, little sore and stiff but recovering.) He's in a rental now curtousy of the insurance. However, after accessing the damage, the car is a total loss (I guess the cost to repair would be more than the current value of the car, and it's a 2001 Lincoln Town Car, in really good shape or so I thought).

I'm sure now we'll have at best a week to get him in a new car and get the rental returned.

    *sighs*

    Such is life.

  15. Re: The cranky thread

I have a friend whose wife vomited every single morning from about two weeks pregnant until birth (including the mornings of the birth). They have two kids, and are considering a third.

At that point I think I'd maybe stop at two . . .

Bleh. I was lucky enough to not vomit during my 1st trimester...only some mild queasiness. And I'm hoping, as I said, what I'm going through now is part of a bug I may have caught from my nephew and mom.

I am not one who tolerates being that sick that often. Geez...I hate to be pukey sick at all...there's just something about hugging the toilet that grosses me out when I'm that sick.

  16. Re: The cranky thread

If it makes you feel any better, I've been sick three times so far this year not counting the food poisoning. Little boys are great at breeding germs, it seems.

As for morning sickness--my wife and I eventually figured out that the constant queasiness was alleviated by constant grazing on crackers and other easily digestible stuff. Of course, everyone is different. She never did have to drive the porcelain bus anywhere.

Thanks. And yes, children are great a breeding germs (being that my nephew had this bug first, then my mom, and now me). :P

As for the morning sickness...last trimester (when it's supposed to be worse) I did a lot of bland stuff...crackers, cheerios, soups...which is why I'm hoping (oddly enough) that I do have a bug and it's not morning sickness catching up to me.
