  1. Re: Bow & Arrows separately.

Ok, so let's say you put extra damage onto the bow and say it stacks with the arrow thrown. If you do that, you can put the STR Minima on that. Then what you'd have to do with the arrows, though, is if it's armor piercing you have to make them a compound power with an NPA big enough to cover the arrow damage PLUS the damage added from the largest bow. Just something rolling around in my head as I read this.

  2. Re: New Advantage: Area Effect Arc

instead of basing it's range off of the current AoE's, you could base it's jump distance on the AP, and then it can go as far as there are people within range and dc's left. Something like 1"/10AP or something (or 5AP), then if you have a 10 DC attack, it could in theory jump 5" 10 times as long as there were new targets. You could also say that it cannot leave the range of the power, if that's what you want.

  3. Re: Designing Sword Schools

I don't know about Dwarves in general, but the Duervu Tuun of the Dwarf King Nogarrod are the elite heavy infantry on the front lines of every battle - Typically deployed in a line between one and three warriors deep, with clansmen w/ longspears (and lighter armor) ranked behind them.

They're outfitted with large shields and plate and chain, with peaked helms. They're weapon of choice is the pickax, tho somewhat larger and more ornamental than those used in mining. This pickax, called the Tur'Tuun, has three business ends - Beaked Axe and a curving Pick blade, and topped with a 4" spike.

As mentioned earlier, they are deployed in a line, with sheilds ready, and advance with half-moves prepared to recieve the charge. When recieving a charge, their first action is to multiple-attack Root and Shove. If the enemy is many ranks deep, you might wish to come up with rules to simulate the enemies front rank being crushed from their comrades shoving them forward onto a set shield wall (and the Duerva Tuun's subsequent Shove back.)

One use of the Duerva Tuun is to have them push an enemy down a tunnell or out a gate, while engineers set the tunnell to collapse. Once the engineers are done, the Duerva Tuun slowly retreat, and the tunnell is collapsed when they are clear.

The Duerva Tuun are methodical in their fighting, and fiercely stubborn. You won't see fancy moves from them - they advance on the enemy and cut them down, step by step, slowly pushing invaders out of their underground homes.

Martial Training of the Duerva Tuun:

    4 Shove 1/2 phase +0/+0 +25 strength to shove

4 Root 1/2 phase +0/+0 +25 strenth to resist shove, block, abort

4 Fast Strike 1/2 ph +2/+0 Wpn +2 DC strike

4 Counterstrike 1/2 ph +2/+2 Wpn +2 DC strike, must follow block

    1 Wpn Element Axes/picks/maces

    2 WF Common Melee

2 KS Duerva Tuun War Chants

This is top of the head, so revisions, additions, and opinions are welcomed..

This is great because it matches very well to what I was pondering on for one of my Dwarven nations. This gave me a lot to think about, particularly since I hadn't actually thought about them pushing the enemy back. Now I'll have to slightly redesign the "super" skill I was giving them.

    REPPED!

  4. Re: Turakian magic keeping it balanced?

Also, a comment on the poison thing and saves, one way of doing poisons it to add "Based on CON" to it, which if I recall correctly would mean they poisoned person would need to succeed at a CON roll. Pretty much a "fort save", only makes more sense to me, and it's a part of the core system, not an addon.

  5. Re: Your Palm Tools?

I would love one, but I dunno what I'd use it for, it's more the "ooh, something new" thing in me that makes me want one. Maybe more if I were actually doing something game related (and knew of things game related to put on it).

  6. Re: question about a sword with "armor piercing"

The answers about the flaming sword are actually useful to me as I haven't decided how to do it. Mulling things about armor and weapons (particulary enchantments upon such) in my head. Basically I've just thought of two ways, either buy the fire part equal in damage to the sharp part, or ask "What would Thia do?" and half the ED bonus from Armor (for cheaper ponts, natch), which is actually something I've pondered anyway from hearing it sometime in the past.

Anyways, thanks, more to mull over, and I'd rep you'se peoples but I don't seem to give out enough rep so I never can. :o

  7. Re: questions about disads for dryad-like race

I kinda think the first one should be a physical lim, but here's a little deeper delving. What happens when they get attacked while "sleeping"? Can they just unroot on the spot or are they stuck in lala land until their 6 hours is up? That would affect how much of a limitation it would be worth.

If they actually cannot eat/gain nutrients from solid foods/non sugary stuff, then wouldn't that ALSO be a physical lim? That way you can use the normal rules for lack of food/water (and no way of having only one but not the other) instead of have a dependency (sorry if the actual rules for lack of food/dehydration DO work like a dependency, rulebook not at had at the moment).

I also have to agree with the home tree being a physical lim. Not sure how foci would work, what part of you are you putting the foci on, BOD? Then you don't have any health unless you hold your tree. Also, I do think you could possibly have the physical lim AND the DNPC, but only if you want the whole party to have to go back to your tree all the time because it's in danger.

Ok, that's my 2CP worth of advice, buy some stats with it. ;)

  8. Re: Fantasy Cosmologies

In the mage version of owod I believe that to be true, of course the different lines didn't really mesh very well together in many ways, so what might be true in one line isn't true in another, even though they are supposed to be the same world. Anyways, that's sounds magey enough to be true, in any case.

  9. Re: Fantasy Hero Printing Error

I have the same problem' date=' and I do not really care. Also some pages were not cut properly; they were still attached at the top (Separated now, would never be able to find them.) This is also not a big deal; if I had a dollar for every time I had this I'd... be able to buy a tank of gas at least. Probably not much beyond that. Ok, so it's not very common, but I've seen it before.[/quote']

Heck, my copy of 5th Revised has glue dribbles on top of it, not a lot, but enough to make a bunch of the pages stick together, and re-stick together again and again (especially in the summer).

  10. Re: SideKick: Equipment rules

Irregardless is too a word; it's just a non standard one.

Thia Halmades glares at you, ready to attack!

"You've ruined your own lexicon! You'll not ruin mine!"

*smacks Morpheus upside his head with the HICCoS on principal*

    *lick* mmm, creamy!

Well, whaddayaknow, learn something new everyday. Didn't know it was making a plodding way towards being an excepted word.

Ok, enough of the thread jack (I'm getting good at that :help:), CARRY ON!!!!

  11. Re: SideKick: Equipment rules

IIRC' date=' Heroic Characters use their weapons at a 1:5 ratio, not a 1:10 ratio, but I have to look that up. Otherwise, you've got the gist; you're spending END for the STR used -- irregardless of the weapons Str Minima (which imposes an accuracy penalty if it isn't met, not an additional END cost).[/quote']

Yup! Generally it's advised that Heroic Characters spend 1 END per 5 Points of STR (I think that's overall, not just weapons, but it's only STR).

Now, I'm sorry to nitpick, but... irregardless isn't a word, it's just regardless... :o please don't smite me with the ice creams!!!! :help:

  12. Re: What are "vitals"

My GM treats it the same way as we do "Floating Through Armor Crits" in BattleTech. We re-roll the location and call it someting vital in the the new location.

Yet another reason to move it at least a few more locs away from the middle so that you're not having to reroll all the time ;)

So yeah, I'll just use sean's idea, with sectional it will be lower intestinals/groin/inner thigh, without it'll be various weak points. Though I might make it do -1 stunX
