  1. Cool! I'd forgotten about the -3 OCV - that's good because it tends to prevent abuse (of TK and STR fro throwing). Thanks for the page references, I checked in the wonderful index under "Throw xxxx" & didn't see those. Tonight I'll check to see if I was blind - if not, I'll add them in!
  2. I treat huge weapons as area effects - they target a hex, not an opponent. Thus, the DCV is 0 if adjacent, 3 if distant. Really helps to hit those tricksy dodgers!
  3. Growth is supposed to let you CHANGE size. Otherwise, it's a bunch of useful stuff (like area effect on STR due to huge hands) and disadvantages ("Huge - can't go in buildings, crushes bridges"). Some people hate that & stick with the old way (persistant growth). It mainly allows creating big creatures like whales without giving them a ton of points. The problem really showed up with Shrinking, where an ant had more points than a superhero!
  4. I'm sad. No responses. Oh well, at least I get my post count to increase. And I was doing so well before the boards crashed!
  5. Yup. Explicitly. Pretty weird, you ask me.
  6. Yeah, I agree with you re: Rule Zero. I'm making a new character with TK, and want a multipower of "TK Tricks" when this question came up. I was a tiny bit irked that I'm supposed to use Transform, but there is nothing in 5th to help me do that! Entangle leaves something behind (permanent) - seems like a bridge should stay around too. It has a size limit based on cost, which I like. If I can't get a good "Transform" answer, I'm going to abuse Entangle and let it make bridges. The Power / Engineering roll is required with -1 / 1" of bridge, modified for the material (long steel girders = +100 (hah!), loose sand = -100 etc.). That's after END stops being paid - TK can hold the bridge by itself if it has to.
  7. Looks good overall, might get more directed replies in the Fantasy board. I did wonder about the combat skill levels though. He has: 8-pt CSL: All Combat 10-pt CSL: Ranged Combat 15-pt CSL: HTH Combat 10-pt CSL Scimitars 8-pt CSL: +4 DC to Scimitars IDHMBIFOM, but I'm guessing that's 1 level of All Combat (8 cp) 2 levels of Ranged Combat (5 cp ea) 3 levels of HTH Combat (5 cp ea) 5 levels with Scimitars (2 cp ea) 4 levels for DC with Scimitars (2 cp ea) ?????? I'm not comfortable I'm remembering those right. It's pretty complicated for game play though. You spent 51cp on combat skill levels, not bad for Drizzt. As a start, I'd simplify by eliminating the HTH and Ranged levels and replacing them with 2-3 more levels of All Combat. Anyway, cool effort, and I like that he has TONS of skills! I always forget: do you have to pay for the total points of the creature summoned, or just the base points (i.e. less the disadvantages)?
  8. OK, so Entangle can make walls but you have to use Transform to make a bridge. A character has telekinesis, and would like to be able to rapidly build earthen / rocky bridges from nearby materials (the ground, in case you don't get the idea). Seems like a simple thing, but how do you do it? Is piling up dirt a cosmetic transform or a minor one? How much TK do you need to make a bridge across a 10' wide chasm? What about a 50' wide chasm? Do you need the Engineering skill if you expect it to hang around (I'd vote yes)? If you continue to pay END, maybe you DON'T need Engineering (again, I'd vote yes)? This must have been done thousands of times, how do y'all handle it?
  9. A freeby INDIRECT ranged attack? Seems like you're getting a lot for your money with TK.
  10. Another thing to muddy the waters. If we're talking about telekinesis throwing something, does the PC need to buy an EB or RKA to do this often? Or maybe use the Power skill? Or do you just go with it and give them a freeby ranged attack?
  11. Man, don't know why but the answer to this simple question evaded me this weekend. How much damage does a thrown object do? I seem to remember it does STR damage, limited by BODY + DEF of the object, but I can't find it. And does it do that damage at any point in the throw (i.e. does it lose energy toward the end)? What happens if a PC throws a pointy thing (e.g. a handy harpoon from the deck of a whaling ship) - is that a killing attack with the same DC as STR/5? Range modifiers to OCV + aerodynamics etc., and distance from the STR table I've got. Just don't know why I can't find this one. Seems so basic. Hate to post such a simple question; it might damage my reputation. Wait! It's OK, I don't HAVE a reputation! Whew, close one!
  12. Wild thought here, why not use extra inches of Swimming, Only to Hold Position? A ship can't go very fast anyway, and non-combat movement is cheap.
  13. Sounds like a perfect use for the Power skill. I'd add a penalty to the roll roughly equivalent to -1/10ap of the benefit. Since NND (Does BODY?) is +1 (+2?) but there are huge OCV penalties, I'd guesstimate -3 (I hate taking too long for determining these things). If you have all day, figure out the cost of the "new" power and see how much better it is than what he's got on his character sheet. If he doesn't have the Power skill, he knows he's too inexperienced with his power and/or combat to try. If he's desperate and simply MUST try, I'd say - "Go ahead! Roll a 3."
