Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign
Congrats Patience and consistent nagging does payoff. The site looks great. I'm interested in see it in its full operating mode . Keep up the good work ' date=' Dale.[/quote']I'm actually a little disappointed in some of the graphics... especially the banner logo. I'm going to redo a lot of the images.
But, I am proud of the layout. GA did the hard part... the actual coding. But, the concept was all mine.

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign
Good News, Everyone!
After several emails to GoDaddy Customer Support, I am proud to announce that my new domain is officially online...
~knocks loudly on the nearest chunk of wood~
Here's the URL.
This is still a work-in-progress, so you'll notice that my side links aren't working yet. However, all of the log files are accessible, and I have begun work on the next two entries.
Enjoy!

Re: The Future of Small Arms
Then came the invention of assault rifles and hand-held machine guns. For some time' date=' they were the province of the military (and still are [b']in most law-abiding places[/b]).I'm not going to derail this thread by getting into a huge debate on 2nd Amendment Rights, but I would like it noted for the record that I object to the implications of this statement.

I think the future of small arms lies in...
stone knives and clubs made of the femurs of your enemies.

Re: Bizarre Spell Ideas
It's not Nutritious but it will keep you alive - another Create Food spell. The food created appears in a small tin (with the mysterious symbols Underwoodthat contains a pale paste like substance that tastes like Chicken.Shouldn't that be "kinda tastes like chicken"?

Re: Artifacts
I think he is thinking of the stellar power collection rod of Starman I and V and the Star Spangle Kid I and II. It allows them to manipulate gravity and electro-magintism if I remember correctly. Cool Toy. It is a DC gadget of extreme power. (Starman V was the one who had his father (Starman I) make it into a weird walking stick' date=' actually more of a wizard's staff)[/quote']Actually, I thought it was a reference to Donald Blake's cane... before I remembered that Odin had released Thor from the geas that compelled him to take the form of a lame mortal when not battling evil.

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign
So, is this like the shortest and tallest of the group? Where does Caspar fit in to the picture?
And, why did I just flash on an image of Hanna-Barbera's The Herculoids?

Re: Aliens watching our television
Of course' date=' don't forget the forgettable ST:TNG episode [i']Casino Royale [/i]where an alien race mistakes a cheap gangster novel for a blueprint of humanity's Xanadu...Actually, the name of the episode was The Royale. However, I will agree that it was highly forgettable.
Incidentally, Casino Royale is the title of the new James Bond flick (as well as the title of an old James Bond flick).

Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign
I Like It!!
The only changes I'd make would be to the hair and skin color. The hair should be on the red end of the blonde spectrum, and the skin should be lighter (when you're in the engine room of a starship for as long as he is, you don't get a lot of sun).
As for making a mini based on that image, if it won't delay you on doing the others... go ahead. However, as often as we've used minis, it might not be worth the effort.

I'm Milo... Patrick... Alexander... Francis... By God Mahoney!! Come get an' old-fashioned Irish ass-whuppin'!!

Re: The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the HEROic Unbeliever
I dont care if an old thread is ressurected for a good purpose' date=' Ive just been noticing a trend where a new account is made and an old thread is ressurrected, and nothing more is ever heard from that person again. It makes me wonder "why?".[/quote']No offense intended, KS... but, maybe, the reason they're never heard from again is because, within the first half-dozen responses, there's always someone complaining about why they resurrected the thread.
Perhaps, if they were greeted with a more positive, welcoming attitude, there would be fewer disappearances. And, the ranks of HEROphiles would grow.
Also, for the record, the first time I read the Covenant books, I have to admit that I was unimpressed. I'm not much for anti-heroes. However, after reading Melenkurion's views, I am giving serious thought to a long-overdue re-read.

Re: The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the HEROic Unbeliever
Maybe it was the other way around...
He made the account... THEN decided to comment on a 2-year old thread.
The first thing I did when I got here was to go through all the old threads to see what was being discussed. There were many old threads that I wanted to reply to... but just didn't have time.
I really don't understand this implied stigma to ressurecting old topics. If you have new information to share (which this fellow obviously did), then why not add to an old topic instead of starting a new one.
The only difference is you have fewer people complaining about "raising the dead"... and more complaining about "this has already been discussed in thread # blah blah blah".

Re: Time travel Dr. Who style - Hero Universe
Times like these I wish there was some kind of online collaboration site where people could get together and add content' date=' edit content and talk about the Hero system...[/quote']~snicker~

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
From a game awhile back:One of my female players was trying out new characters for a few sessions. This character was an iced based female character w/blue skin and horns (I think she was basing the look on an online game). Anyway, she had a high COM and was trying to use her female charms on male NPC.
NPC - "Wow, are your horns real?"
PC - "Yes, just think of them as handle bars."
After a few stunned moments of silence, we all busted out laughing. Ever since then it has been a running gag for our group.
On that note, I refer you to this. (note: not work-safe)
Enjoy!

Re: Help me stat this "sword"
I'm too tired to notice skimpy clothing, so I'll just comment on the sword.
You can write it up any way you like, because there is no way anyone with normal humanoid joint articulation could ever use it without disemboweling themselves. Also, the balance is all wrong
If the gripping area were longer and the blades shorter, it could be used in quarterstaff form... but, as it is, it's a suicide looking for a place to happen.
God, she's got a nice butt!!

Re: Help me stat this "sword"
Well, I can see the link this time, but it produces a 404 error.

Re: Help me stat this "sword"
Apparently, the link didn't work either.

Re: Time travel Dr. Who style - Hero Universe
The thing to keep in mind for Dr Who type time travel is that what is important is an -individual's- timeline; once an event has been witnessed by The Doctor' date=' it is, to him, immutable and irrevocable (unless he can figure out a way to change it without it -seeming- to be changed to the rest of the world).[/quote']Ooooh!! So, basicly, we're all just Schrodinger's Cat... until The Doctor opens the box!

Re: Missing: Fantasy Hero
I've owned all versions of FH and I have to say I prefer the 5e version. However, it isn't for players at all.Being that fantasy is one of the, if not the, most popular genre in rpgs, a FH Sidekick would be great. All of the player bits from FH plus the Sidekick rules. $20-$30 and that's all you need. Maybe with a primer section for Turakian age.
The GM buys the phone book and the players buy just the stuff they need.
Hell of an idea!!
Yo! Steve! A word in yer ear, dude!

Re: "Beware the generosity of Kings" - A warning
You don't control them. You ask them to map the entire world and not to come back until it's done. Completely. Every little village in existance, every chunk of rock big enough for a palm tree, everything.
Should keep 'em occupied for a bit.
Hmmm...
Where have I heard this idea before?

Re: Weirdest Party You]ve ever had
I think the weirdest team I ever played in consisted of:- A noble wizard and his "manservant" -- a 12-foot high iron golem named Clyde.
"Scrap the Caddy, Clyde..."
Oh, wait... Clyde IS a scrapped Caddy!

Man, are you kidding? The house is sitting directly over what has to be enough hydroelectric-power-on-the-hoof to heat up a whole neighborhood of those houses.
As for insurance... pfft... who cares!!
