  2. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

Chasin' pc viruses today, s'like slappin' mercury...

other than stupid end users I believe viruses come from a collection of things...

    1) long hours

    2) cold pizza

    3) warm beer

    4) no girlfriend

replace any of the above to a significant degree and viruses should decline proportionally...

  3. Re: Help with Vehicle Combat (Ships)

So, Cap'n, by your reference then say the HMS Algiers, a three masted 32 gun brig, size 19, 80" long, at a Spd of 1 to reflect the approximate velocity you'd have the surface swimming at 13" to 16"?

To further push the envelope a bit, to reflect better handling on say, a galley at Spd 2 and a sloop at Spd 3, I would drop the swim number to around 7" and 3" respectively?

    Thx for yer attention, matey....

  4. I have been asked to do a conversion of the Flashing Blades rpg and one of the main points is ship to ship combat. I have a good grasp of the mechanics of normal vehicle combat but could someone loan me an idea on how I should run this?

I plan on using some of the Pirates cardstock ships and a large floating hexmap then a pair of large deck maps for boarding scenarios that have yet to be completely put together. I need to work out the smooth mechanics of wind powered ships. Should the ships be high Spd?

My brain isn't grokking well at the moment, perhaps I'm over complicating, any idea would be helpful.

    Thx, guys...

  5. Re: Let's Talk Lovecraft

The game starts at the beginning of September, 1924.

Since this is my first online game, I'm limiting it to four players right now. But if you want I'll put you on the list for when there's an opening.

    Hmmm, Sept. 1924, busy year...

Lenin is dead, Stalin takes over.

    Woodrow Wilson is dead.

Mahatma Ghandi is out of prison.

    King Tut's tomb is opened.

    Hitler is put into prison.

    J. Edgar Hoover takes over the FBI.

Bell Labs sends its first pictures over telephone wires.

American Indians are declared US citizens.

Olympics are in Paris that year, I think.

And the first Emergency Broadcast Radio test announcement is aired.

I dunno, I think I am too much of a history buff, I may have a temptation to tamper...

But thank you for letting me know....

I'm actually considering joining this one, 1924, huh? That's quite a busy year, what is the starting date if I may ask?

An idea for a chinese herbalist/chi-centerer just fell into place in my brain...

Interesting little thing on Friday afternoon, got a package in the mail from White Wolf, had two Mind's Eye Theatre books in it, rulebook and Requiem, thing is, I didn't order them, got someone else's backorder, sent an email to WW since nobody answers the frellin' phone there. Got an email back this afternoon, they said keep the books, we'll get them to the right guy....

I don't LARP...more books to clutter the den...

  8. Re: GM Resources/Support Materials

My plot hook versions are pretty much the same as yours, I send emails to my rather scattered current group in the form of a newsletter. I take the odd news report about something and throw the Hero spin on it.

My last was on a tanker truck with a load of strychnine that overturned and dumped its load into the Great Barrier Reef in New Zealand (old news clipping in the Metro) Monster time!

The second was a man in Germany that was attacked in his apartment while sleeping next to his wife by a 'wild boar'. The animal jumped out a ground floor window and escaped, the wife was unharmed. (same old Metro clipping) What lycanthrope did he piss pff?

The third was a man in Georgia who was arrested for repeated counts of breaking into a church every two weeks to drink his fill of holy water from the fonts in the church (recent news) What is he trying to control I wonder?
