  5. Re: Traveller Hero Launches! Might I suggest a simple solution to the map issue? Just assume that each square is 1" (Hero) for purposes of tactical (combat) purposes. It's usually close enough. After all, even the 2m per hex is an approximation. As far as why the standard Traveller map uses a 1.5m square, it traces back to the original Snapshot rules and the LBBs. Traveller uses a displacement ton as the basis of their ship construction system, with one ton of liquid hydrogen equal to 13.5 cubic meters. It's approximated in the mapping system by having 3 m between decks, and mapping with two 1.5m squares per ton. Effectively, this means that a huge number of deckplans created over the last 30 years are available and easily readable. JoeG

  9. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? "Heaven's Light/Hellfire" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame soundtrack (Disney). Really amazed that the "Hellfire" part of the song made the cut. It's right up there with "Johanna" from Sweeney Todd in both format and subject matter, though with less self-flagellation. JoeG

  11. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? "The Golden Age of Steam", by Steve Hackett (GTR and early Genesis). This one's from his "Darktown" album, which is fittingly dark and brooding. "The Golden Age of Steam" has a lush, orchestral quality to it, with a driving melody, with a cheerful feel to it. Contrast that with the lyrics, 12 years old in Amsterdam in 1939 A blue-eyed boy my clean complexion always got me by A boy with real potential sold secrets by the score Where refugees were hiding I’d just point out the doors In the golden age of steam I learned those German songs I had to stay alive there was no right or wrong In the golden age of steam The fatherland was rising the world would hear the roar Both sides fed and trusted me in 1944 Trains ran on time those days oiling the machine Smoke rose up like serpents I was barely seventeen In the golden age of steam It’s over now but not somehow I was a hero then to many men Switzerland was a short ride for an eager blond haired boy With a silver smile and loaded with jewelery to enjoy Maybe one day they’ll come for me they’ll take me from my bed A soldier of fortune that’s what my passport read In the golden age of steam I keep on wanting to run a Pulp/WW II game and use this as the theme song. 18. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? "Dreamtime" by Yes. From Magnification, a more recent album that doesn't get a lot of play from me. Followed by "Dry Land" by Marillion. The Auto DJ is having a prog mood right now, with intermittent bursts of weird stuff ("Oliver Cromwell" by Monty Python popped in a few tracks ago). JoeG
