  1. Re: ARAGENT Super Villians

Classic Enemies, both Neutron and Arc have scientific backgrounds and skills. They might be fellows to Argent or team members who can be both combatants and minins who can recognize and or safely retrieve high technology items. Neutron is more of a leader but Arc could easily go to work for them.

Corporations, Pulse who has t-port and an EMP attack would help taking down those techno heroes whose devices Argent covets.

Champions of the North, Falcon and Locust are both mid level tech enabled criminals.

Enemies Assembled, has an evolved version of Plasmoid.

Enemies for Hire, Bolt and Vector are good candidates especially with the latter's scientific acumen.

Voice of Doom, Szybko, another tech character.

Enemies, Villainy Unbound, Death Rider, Mentalax and Monopole

  2. Re: Mix n Match

Mantle, I like heroes who recognize the responsability inherant in the position.

Instead of switching powers and personalities I usually go the Kieth Giffen route of just renaming/imagining an existing character. As an example, I needed someone like Captain Cold from the Flash. I made him a techno thief with a forcefield that could immobilize individuals, ala freezing in a block of ice, and make forcewalls.

  3. Re: Build your own "New Avengers"!

I'm assuming a.) that anyone connected to a still active team will stay there and not join up with the Avengers and that b.) the Avengers are The big league, A list of the marvelvers.

Team Leader: Captain America for the experience and prescence

Bricks: you'll need heavy hitters so I'll say choose from Sasquatch, and or Doc sampson-both smart bricks or Juggernaut who can have someone else think for him.

Long Range fire: choose from Quasar who has power and versatility, Captain Marvel/Photon has power like a Galactus herald, and Silver Surfer cause he is definetly A list power.

Mentalist/ Mystic: Doctor Strange is my first choice for the combination of power and versatility but he's always being called away. How many more mentalists are there?

Recon and info gathering: Captain Marvell/Photon both the energy elemental and the Kree

Exotic Wildcards: The Vision, Nocturne, Darkstar, Cloak, Warbird, quicksilver or Northstar.

And Hawkeye, because I like archers and the team needs someone with a personality.

  4. Re: ARAGENT Super Villians

I've assumed that most or all technology gadget based criminals must work for them at some point or they wouldn't be able to keep their gear running.

Classic Enemies: Ladybug, Bullet might work for them as a merc in exchange for technological upkeep and advancement.

Champions of the North: Lord Dire

    High Tech Enemies: most everybody.

There was at least one high tech bad guys from the first Viper book, Canon who, having not been found in 5th, might have transferred employers.

    Beamline was an excellent choice.

  5. Re: Australia in the current CU

If I remember right, UNTIL's homeport for the Aegir submarine is somewhere in Austrailia. That has to attract the black hats. I would think there would have to be some official responce to their incursions.

  6. Re: Digital Hero Materials in your Champions Campaigns

My tastes and uses are all over the place.

Leah Watt's the "OSS Toybox" is my favorite article and was often used during my WW2 campaign.

The recent adventure with the Tsunami went into my "don't have time to write an adventure this week" emergency binder.

Bill Keyes' miniature articles have been a highlight for me and I print those.

    etc.

What I'm looking forward to the most is supplementary material such as the cut material from Villainy Amok and what ever pulp material we'll see.

  7. Re: And we have a winner! Voting results for the 2nd Champions miniature contest

Thanks to all the participants, people who took the time to vote, and especially you Proditor. That you host this contest is generous enough but to do so during a move and starting a new job is above and beyond.

I have toyed with the idea of doing a whole set of Champs minis consisting of the team and the bad guys from CKC then donating them to DOJ but my painting skills really weren't up to par and my rate of completion is woefully slow. That said, if Steve wants it, I'd be happy to donate Vibron.

  8. Re: What 5th Ed Champs book has inspired you recently?

I've been thinking about running Pinnacle's "Neccesary Evil" as a Champs Universe campaign. In it, the super heroes of the world failed at saving us from an alien invasian and have been wiped out. This leaves Earth's super scum and villains to do the job in their own way under the command of a Dr. Destroyer like armoured meglomanic..

CKC has had me pouring over it as a source for npcs and pre gens as well as getting a feel for the villain scene.

Until and Viper as possible looting sites and a rare ally.

Gadgets and Gear to equip villain pcs and for them to loot from the ruins of hero headquarters.

  9. Re: Your character's theme song would be?

Salvo- post modern super cowboy- "Dance, Mother F@#$%^! Dance!" the Violent Femmes or Shotgun Blues by Jason and the Scorchers

Liberator- super patriot- Commando- the Romones

The Alchemist- ex morgue attendant whu discovered another heroe's super drugs- Spiderman by the Cure

Fornax- plasma metaform, walking light saber, Dresden by the speed metal band K.G.B.

  10. Re: Freedom City Hero

Agreed, a multistatted book immediately ensures I will atleast give it a look. Even if this were exteneded to rival companie's stats available on a accesible web site, I'd atleast check it out.

  11. Re: The Second Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Figure Contest!

The wall was from a 99 cent store playset. It was hollow, triangular and had to be cut up to fit the base. The back is filled with putty and sculpted to look like plaster or drywall on that side but that didn't show off the leg and hand well so its painted to match the brick.

I'm painting the four as we speak Aylwin. The layering technique gives beautiful control and end results but it eats up time like you wouldn't believe.

Part of the delay is the metallic finishes, if possible, I'd like to get a blended metal effect that would give Palladin and Sceptre some dark shadows that would really highlight the metal sheen.

  12. Re: The Second Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Figure Contest!

For the mod category, the 5th ed. Vibron. There is a pic on pg 215 of CKC.

The body is a Marvel clix Wild Child:

The head is from the Marvel Clix Ultimate Electro and lots of putty.

  13. Re: Beyond Conquerers, Killers, and Crooks: Your favorite villains?

Tezcatlipoca, I love everything about this character except tht we've never seen Storn's pic in color.

Mechanon 3000, now thats an upgrade, the thought of Mechanon surviving till the next millenium and achieving that kind of apotheosis...its just too cool, this is the sort of specific detail that makes the Heroverse more than another generic copy of the Marvel universe.

Ripper, for when you want the players to cringe.

Teleios, evil hero clones and gene spliced monstrocities work for me.

  14. Re: Clix mod challenge

Yeah they are fuzzy, but what you've got there looks pretty good. The proportions on the Crowns look very nice. Looking forward to the sharper photos. If you'd care to share, the recipes are always appreciated.

  15. Re: The Second Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Figure Contest!

Thanks, everyone. Now get painting! :bounce:

RM: Yes and no. Nearly every figure I paint, I paint with the expectation that it will go on the gaming table. Very rarely do I paint for display (Harbinger is one example, Istvatha is another). I've used Grond, Durak, Blue Jay, and the others in my games. But I don't always spend tons of time and effort on each fig -- for example, I've got a bunch of civilians/bystanders that each took me maybe half an hour to paint, and they don't look anywhere near as good as some of the ones I've posted here.

I'm just finishing up a DH article on how to build cool bases for your figs. I hope there's some interest in that. :)

    Bill.

    ]

I had this mental image of you plopping down that fantastic Grond figure during a game and watching all the players do spit takes.

All of your DH articles have been great and this one definetly covers an area I need help in. All I ask is that you include some of your photos.

  16. Re: Campaign length

Recent campaigns have gone roughly 3-4 years. The only real difference from the early games being that we usually have multiple campaigns set in the same game world and the campaigns usually come to a definite prewritten ending.

  17. Re: what should i get?

Dark Champions would be my reccomendation becouse it can be used for any modern cinematic to street level super heroic campaign.

Fantasy Hero is an excellent buy for your dollar and has had some great support products. If your tastes run to fantasy then I'd rank it second.

Star Hero hasn't had a lot of support so I'd reccomend it last though I'd still reccomend it.
