Basically the chicken thigh video reprised, which isn't a bad thing, per se.  It reiterates the approach elements...drying out the meat surface, the balanced marinade, playing with your food to get the marinade to work in, why you use alcohol, etc.

I might try tweaking that...the big swap would be almond flour or almond meal (I forget which is supposed to be finer, and finer is better here), and fake sugar of some sort.

  2. Yeah, the union would probably whine at a 5 game suspension.  I put no weight to that.

In college basketball, I suspect that Bob Huggins' career as a college coach is toast.

Apparently, 6 weeks ago, he used an anti-gay slur twice, and made a number of seriously tasteless comments.

    https://apnews.com/article/bob-huggins-homophobic-slur-west-virginia-daee2346b59daf853400bcc21ced59eb

WVU didn't fire him, but cut his salary greatly, and he's only on a 1 year contract...so, clean up and put up or else.

So now he gets arrested for DUI...and not some mild technical violation like .05 in a .04 state.  No...0.21% BAC.  Incoherent in the roadside sobriety test.

The slurs SHOULD have had him tossed into the nearest mud puddle earlier.

This is worse.  And like Ja, it's a 2nd apallingly STUPID incident within a very short time frame.  But Huggy Bear isn't some 20-something kid, he'll turn 70 before the season starts.

I get the whole "waiting to gather more information" but overall, this should not take long at all.  This will be termination for cause, presumably, so they'll make sure everything's done properly...but I suspect the paperwork will start Monday.

  3. Wellll...

YMMV and that's all good, but.....

Not a snowball's chance in a Canadian forest fire.

Dimension hopping is an AWFUL premise, far as I'm concerned.  It means nothing is real, nothing matters...the whole universe can implode, but as long as the hopper moves on, who cares?  There's ZERO tension...and therefore, zero interest to me.

Doesn't help that it looks like very cheap animation, but I suppose that could be assumed.

  4. <<<<CRINGE!!!>>>>>

Tanner Houck of the Red Sox just took a line shot squarely off his face.

Stayed down for a bit til the trainers came out and helped him off the field, straight to the clubhouse.

Puts a bit of a damper on what's been an absolute ROMP for the Red Sox...they're up 13-1 with the Yankees up in the top of the 5th.

  5. Plus, at least the first time, if you say 185 with 10 must be in background skills, they'll put exactly 10 in the background skills.  If you say 175, hey, who knows, some of em might put some points into them during the build.

Second time around, of course, the players might expect it, so you might not be able to surprise them...but hey, then maybe you change the deal a bit....

It'll actually cost more than that down the line. A 25-game suspension means that he'll be ineligible for any of the postseason awards. If he had made an All-NBA team he would have gotten an extra 39 million on his contract.

Ohhh....nice catch there.  Yeah, the NBA's put in another weird contract term, basically for those on a rookie contract or rookie contract extension.  All-NBA would elevate him from 25% of the cap to 30%.  But I'm not sure if the clause continues to count.  He didn't make All NBA, so it doesn't apply this year.  He can't make it this year, as per your observation, so he won't get it for 24-25.  But there's still 3 more years after that.

So it's not right to say he lost 39 mill.  He didn't qualify for it this year regardless.  If he only lost out on next year's bonus, that's $7.2M...but that wasn't a lock, either.  If he's frozen out of the bonus for the rest of the contract, yeah, that's a potential $30-odd mill....

    https://www.spotrac.com/news/all-nba-contract-implications-1884/

Ya wanna see *gross* numbers, look at the potential contracts for Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.  Cripes...

    EDIT:  or look here...

    https://www.espn.com/nba/salaries

39 players making $30M or more last year...and Brown, Tatum, and Morant *aren't*.  Brown and Tatum were just under;  Morant was on his rookie deal last year.

  7. How much gas will he have left in the tank, should the Angels make the playoffs?

It's looking to be a very interesting race with probably 4 teams for 2 slots.  Whoever climbs out of the AL Central swamp;  the Rays, Rangers, and Orioles have some separation.  After that, it's Astros, Angels, Yankees, and Blue Jays, all within 2 in the loss column right now.  IOW...7 teams in 2 divisions fighting for 5 total slots.  The less-unbalanced scheduling means less cannibalization.

And all 4 teams in that pack are decent teams...probably going to take 90 wins to get a WC there.  NL...eh, not so much.  Miami's got the 4th best record in the NL, and they're only on pace for 89 wins.  Giants were 32-32 until winning their last 4, which still only puts them at around an 85, 86 win pace.  Interleague stats show the AL is stronger.  KC and Oakland are disastrously bad;  taking them out of the picture, the AL has gone 141-120 against the NL.  That's a .540 win percentage.  There are no comparable teams in the NL;  the Cards have the worst record, and they're still over .400.

Huh....it's also curious to see the scheduling discrepancies.  Milwaukee's played 32 interleague.  Pittsburgh and KC, 29 each.  OTOH...Dodgers, 12;  Orioles and D'backs, 14;  Rockies and Angels, 15.

  8. I just hope Morant can start getting his act together.  This is a long suspension, 1/3 of the season, and it'll cost him a LOT of money.  As in, about $7.5M forfeited.  One can hope that's enough to be a wakeup call.  It's also a big warning...this is absolutely NOT!!! acceptable, and if it happens again......

And MJ just shows he's a really smart businessman.  1000% ROI is pretty decent.....

  9. Watchdog, what I'd suggest is to double check which export template files you've got, and where...in Finder, first, NOT in HD.  Finder has a search bar;  I presume the options exist to search that start folder and all subfolders, so navigate to the root itself, and search for *.hde.*...or whatever the Mac uses as a wild card.  As Simon pointed out, there are times when both Windows and Mac have renamed files on us, tacking on a second extension, so you might have MyTemplate.hde.xml, or MyTemplate.hde.txt...and HD will ONLY find files that have the .hde extension.

It could also be that the files aren't where you expect them to be.  Done that too.

In Windows, it's also plausible it'd be the file permissions, which can be a serious PITA.  The file might be there but the program doesn't have permission to read it.  In that case, it won't show up at all.  This is another reason to use Finder to see if/where your templates are located.

  10. You miss the point.

Multiple attack doesn't care if you have 1 sai or 2.  You can strike as many times as you want with just the 1 sai.

There are nuances...like Two Weapon Fighting.  But that's a separate 10 points, and it's to offset the initial OCV penalty...which could be done with standard combat levels, probably, that wouldn't call for a 2nd weapon.

Autofire is something entirely separate.  It also doesn't require a second copy;  in this case, the second copy is nothing more than SFX.  But you could define something as an ultra-light, supremely manipulable blade where you're making 2 separate, quick slashes...or perhaps a double-headed flail.  One head hits solidly, the other glances off.......  Or it's a magical multi-strike dagger, which makes copies of itself.

Autofire is an advantage on an attack power.

Multiple Attack is a combat maneuver, with a lot of flexibility.

Which is better?  It's very much build-dependent.  I generally prefer Multiple Attack, so I can avoid the gotchas in Autofire, like using it with any non-standard damage invoking a huge markup.  Same with Reduced END, for that matter, it's double cost.  But YMMV.

  11. Using another slot in an MP is dodging the issue, because it doesn't address when the build doesn't have an MP or VPP with the first one in it.  Sure, it works, but it's incomplete, AND it doesn't address the core fact that the rules have that 2x Items for +5 points included.  So that you could do something like this in an MP is not useful to address the general question.

Basically, we've said it several times, N-B.  The 2x rule doesn't work if you can use them in a combined manner...a combined attack, or when the powers stack;  or when you can hand one off to someone else for their independent use.  The 2x rule is fine for clips...empty one, swap out;  for (presumably) foci or Phys Manifestations, where if one becomes unavailable, you have another.  Also for Multiple Attacks, because a multiple attack can be made using a single weapon.  I'd allow it for Two Weapons Fighting;  you're getting +2 OCV but paying 10 points for the privilege.  Same argument applies to Off Hand Defense.

Can there be somewhat tricky, borderline cases?  Yeah.  I was goofing off with a power armor build.  A pair of typical Iron Man gauntlet blasters run from END Bats.  The blasters can use the x2...no problem.  Can the END Reserves?  Not if they both can Recover at post-12...because now they're being used in a combined manner.  You couldn't, for example, alternate shots from different gauntlets, then see them both Recover on post-12.  If you use one until it's drained, then switch to the second one...the "recovery clock" for the first one has to be frozen when it's off-line.

Unbelievably, the Reds are now 1.5 games out of 1st place and just called up a potential superstar in Elly De La Cruz

Because they're playing in a Central.  Don't buy the place in the standings, buy the record...1 game under .500.  Not horrible, mind, and good googly moogly, the NBA and NHL proved beyond ANY doubt that all you really need is to get in.  It's a 3 team race in the NL Central;  the Cubs and Cards just don't look to have it.  (I'm thinking the Cards are going to have a new manager next season, if they can't turn it around.)  But there's no chance whatsoever that any NL or AL Central team is getting in as a a WC.  Heck, it may be a tossup whether both division winners are over .500.

De La Cruz got off to an awesome start, we'll see whether the pitchers bring him back down to earth.

But yeah...Reds and Pirates in the hunt?  D'backs are still up 3 on the Dodgers, and are only 1 loss behind the Braves for best record in the NL?  Texas and Baltimore are tied for 2nd best record in the AL, behind the Rays...who are still on pace for 110+ wins.  Yeah, right, NO ONE saw most of these, and we're about 70 games into the season....

Oh yeah.  A's lost to the Rays last night...but...hold your horses...they'd won their last *7*.  They no longer have the fewest wins;  that's KC.

  13. I believe the lid is now on, and the coffin has been nailed shut.  The Oakland A's are dead.  All that's left is the actual funeral.

The Nevada legislature approved the new stadium deal.  I assume MLB has to approve, but hey, I think we can assume that's pro forma.  MLB *desperately* wants out of the Coliseum.

Have to say this doesn't surprise me.  Depresses, yeah, but not surprises.  I think the days of anonymous, easy logins to services everywhere, might be numbered, on sites with larger reach.  The trivial, anonymous login makes policing this harder.  It's not enough to boot the violators, if they can't be kept off, or at least slowed down.

Extortion by social media bombing isn't new.  It's been an issue for many years.  I don't recall offhand that they were used for extortion, but they were deliberate attempts to damage reputations...and did do *serious* damage to some companies.

  15. Having 2 sais has only a few, very narrow, rules implications...disarming one doesn't leave him weaponless, and if he's bought it, Off Hand Defense and Two Weapon Fighting.  Otherwise, it's nothing but justification for Multiple Attack, or for "I feint with one to attack with the other."

WIthout even trying to get seriously abusive, tho, why can't I define a pair of rings giving, say, 5/5 rDEF, and get a total of 10/10?  The rules are *silent* on this.  And even if they're IIFs, something this small would still save 7 points.  Or get more complex.  The thing that makes Hugh's obviously abusive is extending the doubling ad absurdem to drive the point home, but hey, how about 2 PD, 2 ED Negation, IIF (16 points)....x4.  Arm bands.  26 points for 80 points of negation, and it's...semi-plausible.

The doubling rule isn't the issue per se;  it's the failure to explain it properly.
