  1. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

---snip--- Punk would be your People's Champ and Cena you corporate one.\.

Yeah, that strikes me as prety much how it's gonna be even if they don't officially do a double Turn. As for Rey's short title reign, I've thought about it and, yeah, it's not really as bad as what they did to Christian. But, how does anyone come to the conclusion that Rey isn't over enough or believable as champion? But yeah, they should bring back the Cruiserweight title. And rebuild the tag-team division.

  2. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

The Good: Punk's back! YES! Didn't expect that for at least a few months. Thought they'd give him some time off, let people get used to a new champ, then bring him back. Guess they decided it would be better to make use of his sudden popularity.

The Bad: Cena's champion again (should have seen that coming). Or is he? How does Punk's return affect the current title picture? This could be interesting.

The Ugly: Rey Mysterio got slapped in the face. Makes Christian's "5-day" (actually 2-day) title run look absolutely epic. I was pissed when Rey lost. Although I'll admit that Cena did impress me when he came off the top rope. Still, Rey deserves better treatment than that.

Just hope when the rematch happens, Punk whips Cena good and has a nice, long reign as WWE Champion.

  3. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

To be fair' date=' he never said he'd be there 24/7 like Cena is or onscreen the whole time.[/quote']

Yeah, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since just after Wrestlemania. And I don't expect to until just before next year's Wrestlemania.

  4. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

You'd think the whole Rock vs Cena arrangement would make some wrestling fans happy' date=' sadly I've already heard some start to whine about Rock "stealing the spotlight." I'm sure these would be the same people who whine about Rock leaving WWE in the first place for Hollywood and who'd be whining if he never came back in the first place.[/quote']

You know, I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Cena on something here. The Rock said he was back in WWE, he was back to stay, and he was never leaving again. So, where the Hell is he?

  5. Re: How can mutants be discriminated against while other "supers" get a pass?

Because it's happening right now to Gays and Lesbians. The only way someone can tell someone is GLBT is if the person ID's as such or does something that a GLBT person would do (ie holding hands and or kissing a same gendered person in public). A fringe group of haters has gotten laws passed to disallow marriage though the federal government. Before GLBT people were an issue African American people felt the same issues (and still do in many cases). Arguably African Americans and GLBT people are way less strange than people who can kill with a look, or read your mind etc.

Perhaps a fringe religious group will decide that Mutant powers are akin to Witchcraft and as such are using the powers of Hell. This kind of hysteria could catch on esp if a large number of mutants gain physical mutations that could be thought as Demonic or devil like (Horns, pointed tail, Cloven feet, fire powers etc). Never underestimate people's ability to overreact to those who are different.

It can be hard for us who live in cities that have a lots of different races and beliefs to see how the people who live away from those "Others" can be to folk who aren't White, Christian and believe like themselves.

I think this post, and a few others, are completely missing the point of the original question. The question isn't "Why do people hate mutants?" It's "Why do people hate Mutants, but not other people who, other than getting their powers in differnt ways, are pretty much exactly like Mutants?" To use the example above, it would be like discriminating against people who were born gay (and yes, I know that in RL all gay people are born that way, but just go with me here), but not against people who become gay later in life. They act the same, they do the same things, the only difference is some were born that way, and some became that way. So why rage against those who were born with it, and not those who acquired it later on? And my response to that is in my first post on this thread. The only way it makes sense is if all actual supers are Mutants, and everybody else relies on tech and/or training.

  6. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

Today is the day. I am so afraid that the WWE will just have Super Cena go over and send Punk sulking off. They have such an opportunity with any other possible outcome. They could really freshen this company up and continue the world talking about WWE.

I mean, what kind of rating might RAW receive if Punk wins the title and leaves with it? Such uncertainty.

They have really done a great job building this PPV.

Agreed. if Punk doesn't win, it's a criminal waste of a great build-up.

I'm just afraid that both Punk and Christian are going to get dominated. I hate McMahon sometimes.

  7. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

God I hope Punk wins. And Christian. My prediction for the WWE title: Punk wins, but before he has a chance to leave, whoevrr wins Raw's MITB match cashes it in and teakes the title from him. This way, Punk wins the title, but MacMahon can't fire Cena, because Punk didn't leave with the title. What I'd prefer: Punk wins the title, leaves the WWE (for a while) and Cena "gets fired." We get rid of Cena for a while, a tournament is held to name a new champion, and a few months down the road, Punk returns, proclaims himself the Real Champion, and has an epic feud with the interrum title holder.

  8. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

OK, so i held back as long as I could, but I have to ask now: What does everyone think of Sting's new "Joker" look? I can see it has its use; it lets people know right away that Sting is unpredictable, and maybe going a little nuts. But other than that, I'm not sure. I liked the look he was sporting before, sort of a cross between old-school and "Crow" style. Anybody else?

  9. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

Watched Smackdown tonight, and the way it ended reminded me of why I can't get used to Orton as a face. Christina vs. Shaemus; Christian wins by ramming Sheamus' head into the ring post and then pinning him. Orton comes in the ring, Christian bails. Then, Orton sets up and punts Sheamus in the skull, for no reason. The crowd goes wild cheering. It wasn't that long ago that the crowd would have booed Orton out of the building for that, and it would have begun a face-Turn for Sheamus.

  10. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

I haven't been watching' date=' but one thing that sounds like it is missing is the heel afraid of the face thing. I used to love when you would see HHH look up and, for instance, going into hell in the cell Foley became Cactus Jack. The sheer terror on HHH's face was worth it. Sounds like none of the current heels have that ability, but they should. Miz should be one of those.[/quote']

Sheamus, of all people, can let a bit of credible fear into his face. Watch some of his matches with Randy Ortan, especially when he just avoids a punt to the head.

  11. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

Yeah, all in alll, Monday was a good Raw. Except, of course, for the bit with Kharma. She comes out, there are six Divas in the ring, including Beth Phoenix, who could present the most credible physical challenge to her, and Gail Kim, with whom she has such history in TNA. I think "Cool! We're finally gonna see some good action out of her!" Instead, Kharma just sits down in the ring and starts mumbling to herself and crying. I'm not sure how long the segment really was, but it felt like at least 10 minutes. I was surprised not to hear the audience start the "Boooooring! Booooooring!" chant. But, hey, maybe there's some big payoff planned for down the road. Tonight, Impact. I'm interested to see what's gonna happen now with the X Division, after the fallout of last week.

  12. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

I'm gonna count tag-teams as one pick:

    1. Ric Flair

    2. Sting.

    3. Samoa Joe.

    4. Kurt Angle.

    5. Undertaker.

    6. The Rock.

    7. Bret Hart.

    8. Great Muta.

    9. HHH

    10. AJ Styles.

    Tag Teams:

    1. Road warriors.

    2. Beer Money

    3. Midnight Express (Eaton and Lane)

    4. Team 3-D.

    5. Edge and Christian.

    Modified under the new rules.

  13. Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

    Daughters of the Sun

Sophia: Named after the greek word for wisdom, all-knowing Sophia can see or hear almost everything all through the city where the team lives.

Aella: Named after the whirlwind, Aella can move faster than the eye can see, noticeable only by the wake of wind she leaves behind

Helia: Named after the sun god, Helia fires tightly controlled heat rays

Khione: Named after the daughter of the north wind, Khione fires blasts of wind that can just throw targets around, or freeze them solid.

Alke: Named after the greek word for strength, Alke possesses enormous strength.

Amalthea: Named after the goat that suckled Zeus and from which the aegis was made (in some myths), Amalthea can generate forcefields that are virtually impenetrable.

Asteria: Named after the stars, Asteria possesses the power of flight and the ability to survive even unprotected in outer space.

This is easy. Each has one of Superman's powers.

  14. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

Well, I watched Smackdown last night anyway. I felt the title change was a slap in the face to Christian. The only way to justify it is to have Orton do a Heel-Turn. And while we're on the subject, when/how did Orton ever become a Face in the first place? That was in my head a lot during his feud with C.M. Punk. People are now cheering him for doing exactly the same things they were booing him for before. I mean, a Turn usually involves a change in personality and in-ring tactics. I mean, just look at the difference between Punk's Heel and Face personas. But with Orton, there's no difference. To me, Orton only works as a Heel, and I love watching him as such. But as a Face, I can hardly stand him. But that's just my opinion.

  15. Re: A Superhuman Registration World

I would probably just sign up with one of the super-teams. It seems to me that the best ue for super-powers is fighting super-crime, which is exactly what such teams are meant for. But quick question: How much are the members of such teams monitored and restricted by the government. And what exactly do you mean by the definition of a terrorist being "pretty broad?"

  16. Re: Strange events...what do YOU (not your character) do?

First, I'd tell my wife and find out if it happened to her, too (fingers crossed). Then, I would find out exactly what I can and cannot do, testing my powers to their limits. Third, I would tell my brother in law, as he is both the sheriff of my county and the only public official I would trust with my secret. Together, we owuld figure out the best way to use said abilities in service to the public. I would like to keep my identity secret, but if I had to join the Sheriff's Department, I'm sure we could still conceal exactly which new deputy is capable of these things (tell me standard-issue SWAT gear doesn't conceal an identity). The whole time, I would also be monitoring the world situation. The dust fell world-wide, but what percentage of the population actually developed powers? How many of these are using their powers to serve the community? How many are going on crime-sprees? Of those observed, what seems to be my relative power level? Are we all "built on the same number of points?" Or are some more/less powerful than others? Does relative power level seem to have anything to do with how people are using them? I honestly believe that in the US, there would be less of a witch hunt/kill the freaks mentality than in certain other parts of the world. Owing both to our belief in tolerance and individualism and our long-standing history of comic-book superheroes. But honestly, whether I would ever take my activities beyond the local level or not would depend a lot on what other people were doing with them.

  17. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone

It's not that I don't like Anderson, I actually do. I just get tired of seeing the same thing every week. That, and I just felt it was an insult to the TNA originals to put the strap on him so soon after he arrived. As for your suggestions to turn TNA around, what you're advocating is pretty much returning to what they did before Hogan arrived.
