Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Yeah, Tough Enough is great. Got caught up on what I'd missed (due to work schedule, mostly) this morning when USA showed all three already-aired episodes back to back. It's now my favorite reality show, barely edging out The Ultimate Fighter.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Just catching up on this thread after a while away. Yes, DeMott needs to get back in the ring. As for Edge's retirement, it sucks, but at least he stopped while he was still healthy. And I wonder how long Undertaker will be out this time. I miss the days when he was a regular part of the show. I fear we won't see him in the ring again until t6he night John Cena gets his roody-poo candy ass whipped by The People's Champion. And how much did THAT suck? Rock comes back, says he's back to stay, then makes a match for next years Wrestlemania, and I'll bet you money he disappears again until then. Dammit, we need guys like the Rock and Undertaker on TV every week, not on PPV once a year!

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Well, Sting is TNA Champion again. Coolness! Hope this means they ditch that God-awful belt. I mean, it's a cool design, as part of a superhero costume or something, but it just does not look like a wrestling belt. Though I can't believe they expected anyone to believe it was a surprise of any kind. Especially after last week's promo. And all they had to do to really surprise people would have been not show that one short little promo. Well, no complaints from me either way. Good way for Sting to return. Although that belt does need to go back to A J Styles soon, giving every member of Fourtune a belt *grin.* Hey, is it me, or has Samoa Joe disappeared lately?

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Yeah, I stand corrected. It's 18-0 at this point. Damn, I need to change my screen-name. On a semi-related note, looks like Sting is coming back to TNA this Thursday. Which is awesome, except that they're using exactly the same kind of promo the WWE did with Undertaker's 2-21-11 return. Hey, remember back when TNA tried to be different from WWE? You know, before Hogan came along?

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
He's 18-0 now. He would not get #20 until 2012's Wrestlemania. And shouldn't that be Taker vs. Cena? This year sounds like it is HHH with HBK as ref. Or something else. I think Monday's Raw will reveal a lot.
No, I believe he's 19-0 now. His first victory over Shawn Michales was number 18, and the retirement match last year was number 20, I believe. Guess it's time to bust out the google-fu.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Taker winning at one more Wrestlemania is a given. That puts his record at 20-0 and I think he'll retire after that. If Sting does come to the WWE, they need to really figure out how to use him right and build it up well. I have no idea who victim number 20 will be, unless they use Kane again. Or Wade Barrett (sp?). They both had a hand in Taker losing that Buried Alive match. Let's wait and see what happens Monday and who it happens to.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
FINALLY! The Rock..HAS COME BACK to the WWE! I have been waiting for this about 5 years! I may actually have to shell out money I can't afford to get Wrestlemania on PPV this year. BTW, I noticed above some talk of Sting possibly coming to the WWE. Is there anything backing that up, or is it just speculation? Yes, despite my handle, I am a bit behind on my wrestling news. I blame my job.

Re: Tropes Revisted: Tropes that could be applied to Superheroing/Villainy but aren't
Then there's the guy who is a villain to some and a hero to others. Not so much Robin hood. Maybe closer to Magneto ("Let's conquer them to pre-empt them conquering us!"). A foreign superhero who protects his own country's interests at the expense of other countries is probably the primary example. It's terrorism (if they're in the weaker position) or imperialism (if they're just trying to impose their will) but their people like it and yours don't.
In the Silver Age, Lex Luthor fit this. He protected the planet Lexor, the populace of which saw him as their greatest hero. He even had a loving wife and beautiful daughter there. And, of course, the poulace of Lexor saw Superman as the universe's greatest villain, as evidneced by his constant battle with Luthor.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Sheamus is going to be a force to be reckoned with in WWE for a long time to come. As for Miz and Morrison, great work Monday (although I was shocked that a WWE Title defense would be the curtain-jerker), and they made me really excited to see what they will be doing down the road. I can see the WWE in just a couple yeags being dominated by the Miz, Morrison, Sheamus, Barret, and Punk the way it has been by Cena, Orton, HHH, and Batista in recent times. Hey, does anybody else remember back when secondary titles such as the Inter-Continental and US Championships were considerred important by people who also would go after the World Titles? I mean, I remember when the US Champion was automatically the number 1 contender for the WCW championship, and likewise with the Inter-Continental and WWE Championships.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Cena reportedly was injured at a house how Tuesday night. I hope that it is not too bad of an injury, because I am so looking forward to Punk-Cena.How about this...
CM Punk and the Nexus comes down to the ring.
Punk says something about being better than everyone. And Being straight edge... and how he spent months trying to show the people the error of their ways. But now he found something even worse that pills and booze... something way more addictive and damaging... John Cena.
Then he could break into a diatribe about how the parents allow their children to idolize John Cena. To make him a role model. Maybe he could jump out of the ring and find a kid planted in the front row full of Cena gear. He could snatch the hat from his head and terrorize the kid (Punk does that great).
He could return to the ring, saying how Cena was anything but a role model, going into his tendency to attack people after the bell and insult Vicki Guerrero etc. How these parents would allow their children to have someone like Cena as their idol.
Punk would say something like since the parents won't do anything, they leave him no choice but to take care of the problem himself. And since Cena has the CeNation behind him, he needed an army of his own.
With Punk's creepiness and great mike work, this would be fabulous.
So...are you on the WWE writing staff now? Because if you're not, you should be.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Not much, just RVD looking very much out of shape, and a push for Matt Morgan. Myself, I root for Mr. Anderson.~Rex
Isn't that pronounced "MISTEEEEEEEERRRRRRR AAAAANNNNDERRRRRRSSOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNN!!!!....... ANDERSON!"

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Oh, they're definitely grooming Morrison for big things. One thing WWE is doing right at the moment is getting behind the newer guys and elevating them to the spotlight. Sheamus, Miz, Morrison, Daniel Bryan, etc. OK, been even longer since I've seen any TNA. Anything new on that front?

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine
Okay, give this a look:I shall call her: Impulse, version 6!
It occurred to me today that I could go completely Janet van Dyne with this character. Impulse Of The Week, anyone?
Version 6 looks perfect. But if you're thinking of working up one every week, you may think of getting more varied with your designs.

Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine
In looking back over older posts' date=' I came across this one, introducing one of my oldest characters - only the second one I'd ever created and played, in fact. Her name was Impulse, and she was a telekinetic, focus-enhanced telepath, and private investigator. I hadn't thought about her for a long, long time. She looks like this:It was good to see her again - good enough, in fact, that I was inspired to re-create the costume on the older, original Fábrica de Heróis app. So I did:
Then, much to my surprise, I was looking through stuff on my hard drive and found a picture of Impulse that predates either of these two. Oddly enough, I can find no evidence of ever having posted that pic on this thread. Anyway, here is the oldest version:
So, which of the three do you all like best? Go ahead and be straight with me. I can take it!
Second costume, but switch masks with the third one. And maybe throw on the choker.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
I always keep wondering why I see, AJ Styles and Samoa Joes move sets and such in Raw vs Smackdown video games.......~Rex
Because their movesets are better than most of the WWE's guys.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
I'd love to see Joe in WWE, IF they use him correctly. He should come in as this unstoppable force who just runs through everybody, until he runs in to Daniel Bryan, kicking off a long-running feud. Can anybody fill me in on the current state of TNA, as I've lost track the last three weeks or so? Thanks in advance.

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Yeah, MVP will show up in TNA real soon. And, just like every other WWE mid-carder who makes the jump, they'll push him through the roof. Expect him to be TNA champion within a year, two tops. TNA needs to show more respect to the guys who've been there since the beginning. Like Samoa Joe. Anyway, Raw tonight. It'll be interesting to see the fallout from last week.

Re: Genre-crossover nightmares

Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone
Have to agree on the possibilities of a Bourne/Ryder feud. That could be great! Over in TNA, am I the only one getting sick of Mr. Anderson bitching about a rematch? I don't know, it just feels like every week TNA disappoints me a bit more. Ever since Hogan arrived. It's like the only thing they've done right since then was putting the belt back on Sting. At least it's not on a former WWE mid-carder. But how long has it been since it was held by Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, or anyone else who was never in WWE or WCW? I mean, I consider it a huge slap in the face to Matt Morgan that Ken Anderson became TNA champion before he did. Ans what does it say about their faith in their own product? "We realize we're inferior to WWE. That's why anybody who comes over from there becomes an automatic titel contender, over the guys who havew been main-eventing for us for years." I mean, it's one thing to do it with a guy like Kurt Angle, but Ken Anderson? Come on! Sorry, rant mode off. Almost..one last thing. The sad truth is that TNA is not a better product than WWE. But it used to be. And that's what really gets me. They have taken a superior product and diluted it, all for the sake of appeasing Hogan. OK, rant over.
