  1. I've searched around in 5ER and the FAQ but can't find a definitive answer (because I haven't looked hard enough probably) but:

    1) Can you Dispel the Stun (or END) characteristic as a legal (but not necessarily GM approved) build?

Note: Not an END Reserve (power) but END (characteristic).

    2) What would be the effect of a Dispel Stun (why not use a 20D6 Dispel Stun as an example... it's only 60 AP) in combat? Any different to out of combat?

    3) What would be the effect of applying the Cumulative advantage to Dispel Stun (use 13D6 Cumulative... same reason as above)?

I have my own ideas how they might work but won't include them to keep things streamlined.

Thanks. And Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Steve - hope the new place is working out. Pet the cat for me.

  4. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Just re-watched The Host' date=' a first rate horror movie out of Korea. Just a fantastic film. Really, if you haven't seen it, even if you're not a fan of monster movies, watch it.[/quote']

What if you don't like horror movies at all? My wife can't stand them - she hates being scared or grossed out.

And to go back on thread...

Finished watching Series 3 of the new Doctor Who. Strongest episode? For my money I'd have to say Blink. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth it as an excellent example of why a self contained episode of a TV series can do things that a film just can't because a film is too long.

  5. Re: The artwork drives me nuts

Yeah... because bad artwork always prevented me from playing...

no wait. It never did that.

It is, AFAIC, a lame excuse not to play a system.

I think the whole thread above goes over it from the 'appeal to new or casual users' angle, but in short (so you don't feel lonely):

    I with you agree wholeheartedly.

For me, the layout of the way information and artwork is presented is much more important. If I can't read a book easily or find the information I'm looking for quickly and that becomes a consistent product-line-wide flaw then I will very quickly stop playing it.

And also a moment to give kudos to whoever proofs these things for HERO. Given the phenomenal amount of words written, the number of errors is incredibly low. Well done whomever!

  6. Re: Wild Card's Hero

Re: Wraith; Is Affects Physical World on her strength enough to let her reach her arm through a safe door' date=' grab a book, then [i']turn the book intangible[/i] and withdraw it through the safe door? Or does she need a UBO Desolid?

Or she could have a UAA, Affects Real World, 1" Teleport or something similar...

  7. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

    Last night I watched:

Paris, J'et Taime - some really good stories in this collection of short films, but I found the 'unending' short narratives annoyed me.

Office Space (again) - it was fun to re-watch. It never fails to make me smile or make me feel better about work.

    Today:

UFO - Disc One of Eight from the boxed set. A great old British TV series that really has some quite dark concepts. One being that in 1980 everyone would dress like they were in the 60s :D

  8. Re: X-Men: The Next Generation campaign on Hero Central

Speaking of which... show of hands who's still interested? In my experience recruiting players for the Avengers game' date=' sometimes people post a "proof of concept" character idea but end up not actually wanting to commit to the game... :)[/quote']

I'm still interested, and I haven't even had time to build a character or write a background this week :)

    {sarcasm} End of term for a teacher is such a wonderful time {/sarcasm}

EDIT: Oh, and the character was/is Victory the mutant son of Justice and Firestar.

  9. Re: X-Men: The Next Generation campaign on Hero Central

Can I play? How's this for an idea...

I'd like to play the son of Justice (Vance Astrovik) and Firestar (Angelica Jones).

    Steven Astrovik - Victory.

EDIT: I know that neither were X-Men, but both parents were mutants and I thought it would be nice to play the 'silver spoon/finding out about his roots' subplot as well (Mutant Guy"What do you know about being a mutant? You know nothing about persecution! Your Dad was an Avenger, your mom retired and led a normal life, and your god-father was an actual thunder god! Come back and tell me about you being a mutant when you've endured what 99% of us have had to deal with every freakin' day of our lives!")

  10. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

Hmmm...can i say anything about 4chan without resorting to inapropriate language? Probably not. As far as trawling its depths for pictures' date=' well thats like swimming in the shark tank with fresh steaks strapped to you.[/quote']

A waste of good steak? :)
