  2. Re: Bad Powers Hey, let me throw in a few ideas: I Hear Puppies! 18d6 Mind Scan, Only Versus Puppies (-2) plus 12d6 Telepathy, Linked (-1/2), Only Versus Puppies (-2.) Basically, the character can hear the thoughts of all the puppies on the planet. Nude Ray. 18d6 EB, Only Versus Clothing (-2.) A ridiculously powerful energy blast that just makes people naked. And, my favorite, from the Legion of Superheroes: Matter-Eating. 1/2d6HKA NND does Body (+2 Advantage), No STR Add (-1/2) The character can eat anything. ANYTHING. *sigh* Am I the only one who thinks they missed out when they didn't include Matter-Eater Lad in the new Legion TV series?
  3. Re: "Thing ring, do your thing!" I saw it too. I must have been, like, five, so I was too dumb to realize it was bad. The only episode I remember is the one where the Thing stops the train. You know, Ben jumps in front of the train, bangs the rings together, shouts, "Thing ring, do your thing!" and the traing crashes into him, and they slowly grind to a stop. I guess I'm lucky that way.
  4. Re: Real World Stuff That Only Sounds Like A Comic Book Whitewings, thanks for the corrections. I didn't know that. FenrisUlf, if it sounds like a scam, that's why "unbeatable" is in quotes. Palaskar

  7. Re: [Challenge] Build me the perfect villain...on 350 points! Palaskar is a martial-artist type villain, of the fantasy Dragonlord race. His main weapon is his magic sword, Remembrance, although he is a competent fighter without it. Remembrance has no combat powers; instead, it allows its user to draw on the memories of all those it has killed. It does this by storing the spirits of those it has killed; thus, Palaskar can also summon these spirits from the sword. Theoretically, he could summon thousands of them, but in practices he has never summoned more than a handful. These spirits are capable of limited shape-changing into any humanoid form, and have peak human strength. Palaskar’s Dragonlord background gives him flight, due to his wings; a little armor, due to scales; telescopic and night vision due to magical eyes; and a low HKA due to claws and teeth. He also suffers from a ravenous appetite, three times human norm, and can only eat meat. Palaskar is also able to mindlink with others, which usually manifiests itself as a “spooky voice.” Palaskar’s martial arts training has given him a highly defensive style based on meditation that allows him to sense attacks from all around him, and defend against them. The exception is ranged attacks, against which he is completely vulnerable. To counteract this, he will rely on psychological tactics, such as holding loved ones hostage, or failing that, “human shields,” such as using the team brick for cover. Palaskar is quite proud and will generally not use his sword against opponents he perceives to be unworthy combatants, such as normals. Instead, he will use his claws, or even, in the case of very unworthy opponents, gauntleted hands. With his sword, Palaskar is able to hit small vulnerable targets, such as eyes; the sword is also sharp enough to decapitate a person. Palaskar’s modus operandi is to investigate a philosophical issue using others as pawns. To this end, he will force others to make agonizing decisions. For example, suppose Palaskar was testing the Teen Titans and their concept of ‘justice.’: Palaskar holds up a cellphone. Agonizing cries can be heard from it. “What is that sound?” asked Starfire. “That is the sound of a family being tortured,” said Palskar. “And you can listen to at night, every night, if you do not do what I ask.” “What do you want?” asked Starfire. “I want you to tear apart the Mayor,” said Palskar. “Slowly. On national television.” Palaskar will employ the shape-changing ability of his spirits to maximum effect, using them to gather information about his opponents, their strengths, their weaknesses, their backgrounds, and their psychological flaws. The exception is sabotage, which he views as unfair – unless there is a sizeable gap in power between him and his enemies, in which case anything goes. EDIT: Forgot a bit. Here's the rest. Palaskar is also unaging due to his Dragonlord background. Thousands of years of suffering have made him highly resistant to mental powers. Mentalists may be in for a rude shock when using telepathy, etc. on him, possibly experiencing a taste of the pain he has suffered throughout his existence. (I.e., if I can pay for it in points.) He also has extreme toughness due to this suffering. This toughness is enhanced when he is in five feet of Remembrance, as it is designed to give its possessor immortality by enhancing his natural life force, in exchange for killing one person a year. In Palaskar’s case, this simply translates to increased toughness, as he is already unaging.
  8. Inspired by the discussion of the "greatest villians ever" here and at Wizard, and the discussions "Things I learned as a Brick" etc., I came up with this idea. Come up with a really memorable, effective villain on 350 points. Consider it an excercise in story and tactics. I have my own villain, but I lost my copy of the BBB years ago, so my entry will be in the form of pure story. Later! Palaskar
  9. Re: How do I build THIS? Hmm, OK. Summon seems the best option here. BTW, what is "the +5 Equiment Doubler Adder" exactly? I suppose it doubles your amount of equiment, but doesn't change anything else? I'm still working with my mental copy of 4th Edition.
  10. Re: How do I build THIS? The discs aren't static, they can change their activites from Phase to Phase. They can function both independently AND be controlled by Doc, his choice. (This is part of why I had such a problem building this.) If I were Doc, (and in a way, I am), I'd have to discs go automatic once I went unconscious. A nasty surprise for those mentalists. (Iron Man did it once it an Excalibur comic alternate universe.) Palaskar
  11. Ok, I've tried posting this twice, and both times nothing happened. Let me try again. The power is: The character has a number of discs. The discs can stick to most flat surfaces with a Post-It like adhesive, or can simply be placed. When triggered, the discs "unpack" the energy inside them and project a foot-wide sphere of energy. The spheres have multiple functions, including, so far: laser, crude TK (no fine manipulation), illumination of the surrounding area, a cone-shaped EMP burst, and a cone-shaped flash attack. The spheres are controlled psionically by an AI in the character's helmet, but they all function at once, and can be told to attack targets, avoid targets, etc. as the AI commands, and senses through a network of small cameras placed in the character's armor allowing for 306-degree vision. Is there anyway to make this power without it, being well, "stop sign?"
  12. Ok, I was indulging in that common habit of HERO gamers, building a character for fun. The character's name is "Doc" Vision, a gadgeteer type with a low-powered armor and heroic-level martial arts skills. He's modeled on me, but with superpowers. Anyway, the power I'm having problem modeling is Doc's enertech. A step up from nanotech, enertech is a technology made of standing energy waves. It's basically a crude form of Green Lantern's ring. So here's how Doc's enertech works. Doc has a number of disks, about 4 inches in diameter or so, which can stick to most any flat surface with a Post-It like adhesive. Alternitively, the disks can simply be placed on the ground where Doc wants. When triggered by a psionic signal from the AI in Doc's helmet, the capacitors in each disk "unpack," forming a sphere of enertech about a foot in diameter that has a number of simple electromagnetic powers. So far they are: crude telekinesis (no fine manipulation) using the Searle effect; a laser; a cone of EMP (electromagnetic pulse) that shorts out transistor-based tech; a cone-shaped flash attack; and a light that illuminates the area. The really tricky thing here that I have trouble modeling is that the disks can all function at once, thanks to the AI and a 360-degree view afforded to the AI by cameras in Doc's armor. The disks can also be told to select certain opponents and avoid others. Well, there it is. Is there any way to do without being, well, a Stop Sign power?
