  1. Thanks for the responses everyone. One thing I should have done is establish how the player thinks it's works. When I asked the question, the answer was it just does, which doesn't really help much.
  2. Thanks guys, this was pretty much my view on its use. With the passive nature of the skill, I'm guessing that if someone was, say, asleep in one of those rooms mentioned above, a perception roll would be appropriate to detect them at all?
  3. Sorry Steve, It's been a while since I posted!
  4. Quiz question on using this expensive ability in 5th edition. How exactly does it work?? I've a player who has the ability, but I'm not sure if I'm being too harsh on interpreting how it works. For example, if I have three rooms next to each other, doors closed etc to normal sight, each containing a person, would Spatial Awareness tell the player who was in each room? My thoughts are it would tell them there's someone there, but no detail. Any thoughts?
  5. Re: Do you use miniatures? My group always uses heroclix figures for superhero campaigns. I bought a box load from a popular auction site for £15. It had over 100 figures in it, which was more than enough for our needs. The bases are a bit large, but as someone previously suggested, they can be removed from existing bases and stuck onto 1" bases.
  6. Re: Hero Hunt - It's Back Week tens results are now available! Some major results showing here. Thanks RadioKaos for the pointer, found that website useful.
  7. Re: Hero Hunt - It's Back Week 1 results attached. Entries in red are no longer with us. Thanks for the comments on using character points, I'll see if I can find the alternative you mention.
  8. Re: What is awsome? Not one of mine, but one of my players has a character who's pretty much a normal guy (normal character maxima), but he does have a knack with time. A cool twist with his character is that he can rewind time, but when he does it take years (literally) from his life span. He asked me to randomly choose his age at death, but not to tell him. Whenever he uses this power we add 1D10 years to his current age, and when he reaches his age of death, he bites the bullet. Needless to say he doesn't use this one very often!!!
  9. Re: high-level presence I like to use Presence attacks myself, but must admit a score of 80 is a little OTT. I'd be tempted to put a cap on the characteristic as this character is likely to walk all over the opposition. I suppose, however, that it depends on the kind of game you running. Also is this for a PC or NPC? If it's a PC there's some scope for abuse. If it's a NPC you could temper the use of the attack to suit your scenario.
  10. Re: Hero Hunt - It's Back Here's the latest update to my hero hunt / champions universe file. The next thing I need to do is sort an quick way of calculating a win / lose against various opponents. I was going to use the characters points value as an indicator and use a formula, for example:- Character points (CP) of attacker + 1D100 > CP of Defender = Attacker wins. If the difference is greater than 500, then defender is killed in the process. I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have on an alternative way of calculating a win / lose, as I'm not convinced my method is very effective.
  11. Re: Time travel Dr. Who style - Hero Universe I've GM'd Dr Who RPG for a few years and it's a great way to get players anywhere in anytime. It's also a great tool for system crossovers, for example the last one we did crossed over an ongoing wild west adventure with an ongoing Call of Cthulhu campaign which the players loved. I was toying with converting the Timelord system into HERO to keep my gaming systems consistent, but haven't got around to it yet. If it's of any use to anyone, I've attached the Timelord rulebook PDF, which is freeware, for reference. One thing I like about it is that it emphasised "role playing", rather than "rule playing" and it contains a lot of source material.
  12. Re: Fictional Cities In most of my campaigns we've used real cities, and towns near to where the players live for familiarity. I tweaked certain aspects to give it a superhero feel. I've only recently started to use fictional cities, namely Vibora from the HERO sourcebook of that name. I've also tied in an intro' to the campaign by starting it in Arkham (from Call of Cthulhu) and travelling across country to Vibora.
  13. Re: Picking up and using weapons My campaign at this time is pretty much a real world setting that happens to have super beings living in it. The player in question could be called a normal guy, but just happens to be able to manipulate time. He has no psychological or social limitations, and just happened to pick up a gun after a fight. The question of whether he should of morally picked it up is a fair one, but probable not too relevant to my campaign setting. My main point was how do my fellow GMS deal with this issue from a game mechanics view point. There's been a good mix of responses so far, please keep them coming.
  14. Well, in my game it is anyway. As part of my campaign I have a new side plot based on the Hero Hunt. Basically all those villains out there who are interested in money gain points for taking out superheroes. This time, however, they gain more points for a kill. The villain with the most points gets an insane amount of cash. The reason - a group of villains led by the combined might of Black Paladin and the Crowns of Krim wish to reduce the numbers of supers available to stop their grand plot. In this case a rather apocalyptic end of the world (as we know it), with a gate to a horror dimension being opened and all sorts of nasty critters taking up residence in our beloved Champions universe. I've started to create a spreadsheet containing my favourite heroes and villains from both 4th and 5th edition rules to battle it out. Unfortunately I have several hundred villains to include, but less than half the number of heroes. What I would ask is if you could provide a list of your favourite Superheroes from either your games or ones you've played showing Name, Group, base of operations (Country, Worldwide etc), points value, and any reputation information, I would really appreciate it. I've attached my spreadsheet so far for anyone who's interested. It's not complete as I've still got a few source books worth of villains/ Heroes to input, but it's a start. Please bear in mind not all the villains will be included in the Hero Hunt, but I thought since I was making up a list I might as well include all known villains, and filter out those who aren't participating.
  15. Re: Picking up and using weapons Just to clarify a few points:- 1) It's a Superheroic setting. 2) Yes the PC did take the wallet as well as the gun (not very heroic). 3) The PC concerned took the gun from a thug taken down by another player who wasn't interested in it. 4) The PC concerned it not particularly tough in combat, as he's primarily a temporal specialist, directed more towards defence than offence.
