  1. Well, a telekinetic snatch would be nice too. However, what if I don't want it? Better to kick it somewhere FAR away. I don't have anything against telekinesis, I would just prefer whatever I disarm/snatch to be completely out of the picture.
  2. I appreciate the feedback from you both. So let me refocus and ask this. Using Teleport (or something not Telekinesis), how would you choose to to specifically teleport an object away from someone (nearby) that doesn't happen to be something worn (like armor). That object may or may not be a focus. Also, the object may or may not be in their hand, but may just be on their person. I took no range because I'm assuming they are in an adjacent hex. Examples might be stealing the blaster in your holster, the ring on your hand or the wallet I can see hanging out of your pocket. (Aka I need to know precisely where the item is, or see it).
  3. I should have put up page locations. My bad! Does this address the DCV concerns? Vader-Style Disarm: Teleportation 1", MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4), Area Of Effect (One Hex; +1/2), Usable As Attack (+1) (5 Active Points); OIF (; -1/2) The thought of teleporting away someone's stuff like weapons is one thing, but snatching everything but their Underoos (for modesty's sake) is awesome.
  4. I thought this seemed a cooler idea than a Vader-style telekinetic blaster grab. I was thinking this is a nice surprise for an enemy! Am I correct in 5e (mebbe 6th also) that I just make an attack roll vs DCV3 to successfully take that weapon, brooch, paperback or tray of nachos away from my designated target? Does this apply to Foci as well?
  5. I've been thinking about the D&D Black Tentacles (Pathfinder also) spell. It's a AoE that creates a bunch of tentacles that entwine around everyone in the 20' radius and cause constriction damage. You have to break out of it and try to make it out after then. It's great as an Area Control / Denial role. I think it would be awesome in Hero, particularly to take out a group of mooks. My best idea so far is a grab with the AoE effect on there somehow. Mebbe as a naked advantage, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have a way to do this? I"m thinking Black Tentacles: Grab (for STR 20) , Area Of Effect (2" Radius; +1), Two-Dimensional (-1/4) (26 Active Points); OIF (; -1/2) I'm all for new ideas, but for stylistic reasons I'm avoiding Entangle.
  6. In another thread I put up the following jedi/sith kind of reading thoughts 9 I Can Feel Your Anger Swelling In You Now: Detect Surface Thoughts & Feelings 12- (Unusual Group), Discriminatory, Ranged (+1/2), No Range Modifier (+1/2) (20 Active Points); 2 clips of 1 Continuing Charge lasting 1 Minute (-3/4), Extra Time (Full Phase, -1/2) It got me thinking. As I read this power, it's a Detect [Thoughts and Feelings] of passive type, discriminating so I can tell what those thoughts and feelings are, and I can understand them anywhere in radius instead of having range modifiers. So all passive, one way. 1. What makes this different from Telepathy, Mind Scan or Mind Link? I know I'm not linked like the others, but I was wondering if someone would be interested in comparing and contrasting the bennies and disadvantages of these other approaches. Is there a better way?
  7. Hey, I thought of a teleporter pad that hangs out in the old Fortress of Solitude (and floor of the inn our characters bought) that lets us quickly move to all of our adventures (5e): The Boom Tube: Teleportation 1", Safe Blind Teleport (+1/4), Usable By Other (+1/4), Area Of Effect (One Hex; +1/2), MegaScale (1" = 1,000 km; +1), Continuous (+1) (8 Active Points); OAF Immobile (-2), Limited Power Gate (-1/2) The device works fine, but I have two questions 1. When our adventure is done for the day, I would like some sort of device that I can use to open the gate so we can go home. Perhaps a linked trigger? Love to get some ideas for remotely calling for the gate. 2. I'd love to scry the area first so can move with no problems. thoughts to make it easy? (alternately, I could spent 1xp each and make permanent fixed locations being various other cities in Thay)
  8. This is what Stenica and MidnightNinja were talking about I Can Feel Your Anger Swelling In You Now: Detect Surface Thoughts & Feelings 12- (Unusual Group), Discriminatory, Ranged (+1/2), No Range Modifier (+1/2) (20 Active Points); Extra Time (Full Phase, -1/2), OIF (; -1/2) I must say I like this power. Better than my idea, actually. It doesn't have targeting, just like Vader couldn't find Luke. What would the range on this power be? Any thoughts?
  9. Agreed. I Can Feel Your Anger Flowing Through You: Telepathy 2d6 (standard effect: 6 points), Invisible Power Effects (Fully Invisible; +1/2), Cumulative (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (30 Active Points); Empathy All Emotions (-1/2), Receive Only (-1/2) I was hoping IPE would function to not alert someone with an unsuccessful roll. I was hoping to follow the "just listening to what is being broadcast".
  10. You know 'em, and love 'em. I've been trying to model the classic Sith/Jedi ability to know feelings. "Give yourself to the Dark Side. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your thoughts betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... sister. So, you have a twin sister. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side... then perhaps she will..." "You want this, don't you? The hate is swelling in you now. Take your Jedi weapon. Use it. I am unarmed. Strike me down with it. Give in to your anger. With each passing moment you make yourself more my servant. " Here's my initial attempt: I Can Feel Your Anger Flowing Through You: Telepathy 2d6 (standard effect: 6 points), Invisible Power Effects (Fully Invisible; +1/2), Continuous (+1) (25 Active Points); Empathy All Emotions (-1/2), Receive Only (-1/2) A fair attempt. I'd like thoughts on making it better. Specifically I want to point out this appears to be a completely passive power, apparently just hearing what people are broadcasting at this lowest level of finesse.
  11. That's fantastic! I never thought about a planetary-scale AoE. Consider putting a write-up of it, mebbe paired with some nice little 1pip attack so they know they have plenty of time to think about the errors of their ways?
  12. These are good points, and to be honest the Accurate limitation was more designed as a means to effect a cinematic-style attack from surprise bypassing many defenses. But yours makes way more sense.
  13. I'm thinking of putting an Area Of Affect advantage on a HtH attack, to supplement the Autofire (3) advantage already there: Naked Advantage: Area Of Effect Accurate (up to One Hex; +1/2) for up to 45 Active Points (22 Active Points); OIF (; -1/2), From Behind Or By Surprise (-1/2) Am I correct that these two advantages together mean that (with surprise, and an appropriate weapon) that the character would be able to attack via Autofire a single target in a hex (whether he is alone or with friends) and couple that DCV3 and Autofire for devastating sneak attacks? If it matters we are 5e, but 6e works also.
  14. Yep, I'm 5e but we are discussing as a group how to upgrade. I'll keep the point difference in mind.
  15. Wow! Good one Lucius! In response you you Hyper-Man, you do have a reasonable point. In this case the special effect of tools might include lockpicking tools, or perhaps wrecker bars and SWAT gear designed to tear down a steel door or whatnot. Some might argue it helps maintain at certain level of plausibility as compared to realism, but for me it's actually a character conceit. He's the "one-man army" that will bypass every obstacle in the tradition of many Jason Bourne, Taken and similar films as well as the Rambo and Schwarzenegger files of times past. Think about the plot of John Wick or Taken as examples, although extreme ones of well-trained and disciplined one-man armies.
  16. It was worth a look. A posting on the forum gave me the idea, but it wouldn't work. Maybe with a psionic flavor, but not as is.
  17. Vest, All Tools Once per day, as a standard action, the wearer can speak the vest’s command word and order it to bring forth all the standard tools required to make checks for any one skill. These tools appear in the countless pockets of the vest or if too heavy conveniently nearby. [Duration Negotiable] I want to use Summon for this, but all the text (5th Edition) talks about creatures being summoned, and only mentions summoning items at the beginning. Any suggestions on how the writeup for this summon would go?
  18. Found it, and thank you! I found the writeup, and following my initial thoughts about it's use as a unique "Mr. Spock Nerve Pinch" or other form of knockout blow this seems to be perfect. From the original I removed the Limitations and I added charges up 5 mins, but you can still have them wake up before then as per the Simulate Death description). Here is "weaponized" Simulate Death: Knock Them Unconscious: Invisibility to Detect Life Signs / Paramedic Group , Usable As Attack (+1) (20 Active Points); 3 Continuing Charges lasting 5 Minutes each (-1/4) This really does seem to be an awesome attack. Any thoughts?
  19. I was wondering what people thought about being invisible to just the targeting sense, with the flavor that you see the person but don't pay attention to them. A 2pt adder.
  20. Gentlemen (and ladies), I understand Simulate Death to be the province of 6e. Since I am away, can you describe this so I can cobble this into 5e?
  21. Since I manifested here, I've been impressed with how your mind works. That is surprisingly elegant. As a retired engineer, I appreciate that.
  22. Would that be able to accommodate increased weapon damage (like if it changed into a 1 1/2d6 sword?
  23. I am thinking of a weapon that can become other weapons. In this case, it's a trenchknife (1d6 KA HtH bought as Variable Special Effects (slashing, puncturing or blunt trauma damage) that can elongate to any weapon the character has familiarity with in the Blades group (so long as it's one-handed), and I was hoping to do it up to 3x per day for a turn each with it remaining the base form the remainder of the time. I thought Multiform seemed a good choice, but I cannot figure out how to model it. Below is my first attempt, and it is obviously not working correctly Multiform (90 Character Points in the most expensive form) (Instant Change, x4 Number Of Forms), Inherent (+1/4) (41 Active Points); 3 Continuing Charges lasting 1 Turn each (-3/4), OIF (; -1/2) (btw 90pts I just threw out there as a higher limit, since larger forms might have more damage and advantages) Mebbe someone could suggest how to fix it. Or might a VPP or multipower work better? I'm scratching my head and hoping combined brain cells are better than relying on just my own. Transform has problems being viable. If ya got thoughts I'd love to hear them, and if your thoughts look look like Hero Designer outputs so much the better.
  24. I really like stretching also, but the thought of Extra Limb is also cool. Here are two canon examples of cool combat effects Here's a Steel Whip (canon): HKA 1d6+1, Armor Piercing (+½) (30 Active Points); OAF (-1), No STR Bonus (-½) (total cost: 12 points) plus Stretching 3”, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +½) (22 Active Points); OAF (-1), Always Direct (-¼), No Noncombat Stretching (-¼) (total cost: 9 points). Total cost: 21 points. Extra Limb (1) (5 Active Points); Limited Manipulation (-¼), Nonpersistent (-¼) (total cost: 3 points) plus Stretching 1”, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +½) (7 Active Points); OAF (-1), Only With Extra Limb (-½), No Noncombat Stretching (-¼), Cannot Do Damage (-½) (total cost: 2 points). Total cost: 5 points.
  25. I've been thinking about whips, chain weapons and bolas in terms of combat usefulness. In this case, I have realized that being able to grab an opponent and send him to the floor, take/disarm his weapon and such are awesome abilities. Entangle has problems, because it seems that it's really expensive and people get out easier. I'm thinking about this as more than "just a monkeywrench", because it can be a real force multiplier. Got any cool Grab or other maneuvers usable this way? I'd love to see how people use these weapons to affect more in combat than just STUN and BODY.
