  1. Re: Free character pics

Since we're on the MMO side I'll do my best to lure you in for my main on Champions Online.

    Bio:

The night she was born the hospital was consumed by darkness. Institutionalized from birth the child that would become Lady Night lacked almost any control of her abilities. Her parents being normal humans left her to the care of those who said the understood mutants. Her parents being scared and foolish left her to be become a test subject a nameless mutant locked away for experimentation.

Although it is impossible for her to say when, even her earliest memories she had known Albrecht, the shadow man who came to her when no one was watching. As she slept he would whisper into her dreams tell her secrets of how to control her powers and always there was the promise that one day they would meet.

At age fourteen she escaped. With no money and no understanding of the outside world Albrecht guided her to him. For the next ten years she studied under him, following his every instruction. She did not question the man that brought her freedom nor the acts she committed for him. Albrecht taught her powerful binding rituals and new ways to channel the darkness she naturally generated. For the first time in her life she felt powerful.

Albrecht’s final command to her was to bring him six babies, born out of wedlock. He had told her it was for the final ritual and that her studies would then be complete. As she questioned why, Albrecht flew into a rage nearly killing her. They fought and she saw the true face of the man who would be her master. The final binding that would have her soul. Albrecht died that night. Swearing she would never be manipulated again she vowed to help those too weak to help themselves.

And so it came to pass that the Night was reborn.

Screen shots attached (Note: Last Screen is of Albrecht for when we unlock the Nemesis.)

    Mister Goodnight

They call him the man who slept through a generation. Growing up they thought he had a strange sleep disorder, no one ever guesses at the true strength of his powers. Manifesting his freshman year of college Mister Goodnight slept for over twenty years before scientists learned how his powers worked and were able to wake him.

Able to create a stasis field around himself, those within the area of the field are stricken with a powerful narcosis. Putting his target's to sleep almost instantly this would be a truly amazing ability if it did not affect him as well. A curious side note, in this state Mister Goodnight does not seem to age. Although technically forty five now Mister Goodnight appears to be in his late teens.

Goodnight Aura: Drain STUN 15d6, Area Of Effect (53" Radius; +1), Lingering up to 5 Minutes (+1), Delayed Return Rate (points return at the rate of 5 per Day; +1 1/2) (675 Active Points); Limited Power Power loses about two-thirds of its effectiveness (-1 1/2), No Conscious Control (Only Effects cannot be controlled; -1)

  3. Re: Super Zeroes

Note: This isn't about "Reals", so "parking meter man" had better have a power more exotic (if not necessarily any more powerful) than a pocket full of change.

    Parking Meter Man

Devin Sorkus has a rather strange ability, he is able to reset timers, any timer. Although he lacked the flash of other heroes he has worked closely with Bomb Disposal teams in his area. In his spair time Devin tries to be a good Samaritan walking most places he always resets the timers on parking meters he sees to give people just a few more minutes to get things done.

  4. Re: A White Wolf aneurysm

And' date=' IIRC, oWoD had an uber-NPC who was exactly that - a vamped werewolf.[/quote']

Yep, the Abomination. Here's a short entry on them. If I remember correctly though Abominations only live for a few days once they've sent all their Gnosis they can't recover and simply pass away.

If you're looking for a hybrid of Werewolf and Vampire maybe the Underworld series has some better material. (Granted I've only seen the first flick so I don't really know.)

  5. Re: Aftermath

if the good guys won tuff-man goes about his buisness

if the invasion was succesful he tries to otherthrow the regime with the helpof earths remaing super-heroes[in this case super-"heroes includes surviving super villians]

As a player, which of those scenarios would you rather play in?

  6. Prologue

Today is V+1 Day. Over the last two years you along with fellow super heroes have done battle with an invading alien force. Their advanced war machines rivaled only by the Earth's most potent super science. This long and bloody conflict has seen the death of tens of millions on both sides of the war and the rise and fall of heroes and villains, human and alien.

Through these last two years your character has lost dear friends and made allies of their worst enemies. They were their when Moscow fell into a sea of fire, they were there when Southern California was crushed by seismic generators. Yet, somehow they have managed to survive. Yesterday the combined Earth forces forces led a final desperate strike on SETI Prime where the invaders first landed and began their conquest.

    Notes

The description of the alien force has been left intentionally vague. Feel free to add in the details of what the invasion force might look like. This scenario assumes the alien forces have the means necessary to block any quick fix or that a quick fix such as time travel only set the stage for the war instead of an instant victory for the invaders.

    Questions

What does the world look like now?

Were the Earth forces victorious or is this V+1 day for the invaders? Edit: As a player which would you rather explore?

What is the landscape like for your character? How has the world around them changed?

How has your character changed through this war?

    What Would Your Character Do?

  7. Re: Poll On New Zones

Thing about Urban is that it's basically covered by Millennium City -- Dark Urban for the West side' date=' Modern Urban for the rest.[/quote']

There is room for lots of Urban expansion that's not covered in Millennium city. Personally if they are going to do Urban Zones I think Hudson City and Vibora Bay should be high on the list of things to cover. However, I would really like to see some European locations as well.

Picture if you will a mission life that sends you into Big Ben and lands you on the roof at the end overlooking London. Also, other Urban environments would hopefully focus on low to mid-level content and help expand on the stories characters can do without overlapping with alts.

  8. Re: Poll On New Zones

    Greetings

I'm at work and can't access the CO website. Would someone mind posting the options?

What new areas do you want to see in Champions Online?

    Modern Urban (super-crime in modern-day cities) 5% (449 votes)

Dark Urban (gritty street crime in run-down cities) 8% (664 votes)

Exotic Wilderness (mountain-top monasteries, hidden valleys) 6% (516 votes)

Mysterious Locations (Bermuda Triangle, Stonehenge) 11% (908 votes)

Other Dimensions (the Astral Plane, Faerie, the Netherworld) 10% (873 votes)

Alternate Earth (alternate reality, alternate history) 10% (818 votes)

Outer Space (Moon, Mars, Alien Worlds) 28% (2355 votes)

Historical Time Travel (ancient Egypt, Dark Ages) 11% (894 votes)

    Future Time Travel (high-tech future, post-apocalypse) 11% (929 votes)

  9. Re: Poll On New Zones

I said this over on the CO thread but I think it bears repeating. What I would like to see if the world more fully fleshed out. Zones in other countries and strange locations on Earth. As we have a better feeling for the online would they could then branch out into outer space and alternate worlds. The alternate worlds could also be a lot of fun by playing with existing zones for a larger landscape.

Also, one of the strongest points of the early game I think are the crisis events. Here there are fewer players per instance and once complete you have a real sense of accomplishment. I would really like to see new zones introduced in these tight story arcs.

  10. Re: Stats Discussion

I was beginning to regret not selecting either as a Superstat, but now that I can make custom equipment I have my Equilibrium at 70+, which is enough to use Mini Mines without having to be in combat using my energy builder power.

How do you make custom gear?

  11. Re: Abilities Discussion

Well' date=' I would, but unfortunately I'm slavishly restricting myself to my character concept. Gila Monster not understand Hadouken. Gila Monster not understand Elemental shields. Gila Monster slash with Gila hands. Then bad guys no come back. Nice people buy Gila cheesecake with flies on top. Gila happy :D[/quote']

Might has a block called Retaliation maybe this would work.

  12. Re: Abilities Discussion

I do LOVE Telekinetic Shield though, and am a bit sad that there's no shield-like power in the Fighting power set. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible!

It's a video game that means video game martial arts right? Why not throw in some elemental powers, you know add a little Hadouken to your Karate and all. Mix and match a few Elemental shields and pick up some range. Sure you could do this with any power set but who can resist a Wave Motion Fist? Now I leave you to debate if that's a Fire Power or Force Power.

    - - -

So joking aside, I've only done custom Frameworks since I started playing. I can't seem to bring myself to commit to a pure powerset. For those doing a powerset are you able to dip into other groups for something like a block or ranged attack?

  13. Re: Abilities Discussion

I also had a lot of trouble telling when he was about to go nova on me' date=' though the fact there were ten players, plus pets, beating on him may have contributed to the confusion.[/quote']

Yeah, it takes a lot to bring him down. I wonder if it would be so bad if Viper-X spit out half damage and double the number of big attacks.

  14. Re: Abilities Discussion

The Viper-X Debacle: A Recent Play Experience with Regeneration

While trying to save our beloved mayor the final challenge is to face off versus Viper-X a level 20 legendary villain. At level 20 I'm hovering around 2300 Health. Lady Night uses both Regeneration and Resurgence. In a normal fight, even versus a Super-Villain this works well.

However, it is important to note that the ability to regenerate damage means nothing if you can be killed with a single hit. That is to say once Viper-X took an interest in me I was routinely hit for 2700+ damage. Now comes the blocking question. Champions is good about offering a tell before a foe fires off some nasty attack and although not perfect I'm fairly good at the whole blocking thing. It would seem though that if only due to shear awesomeness I found myself completely unable to block versus Viper-X. For the purpose of this example I will assume I never managed to block as that kind of damage being post block is just really scary.

To sum things up, for Regeneration characters if you're going in against some of these big guns bring meat shields... uh... I mean friends.
