Re: Abilities Discussion
Well' date=' I would, but unfortunately I'm slavishly restricting myself to my character concept. Gila Monster not understand Hadouken. Gila Monster not understand Elemental shields. Gila Monster slash with Gila hands. Then bad guys no come back. Nice people buy Gila cheesecake with flies on top. Gila happy [/quote']Might has a block called Retaliation maybe this would work.

Re: Abilities Discussion
I do LOVE Telekinetic Shield though, and am a bit sad that there's no shield-like power in the Fighting power set. Unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible!
It's a video game that means video game martial arts right? Why not throw in some elemental powers, you know add a little Hadouken to your Karate and all. Mix and match a few Elemental shields and pick up some range. Sure you could do this with any power set but who can resist a Wave Motion Fist? Now I leave you to debate if that's a Fire Power or Force Power.

So joking aside, I've only done custom Frameworks since I started playing. I can't seem to bring myself to commit to a pure powerset. For those doing a powerset are you able to dip into other groups for something like a block or ranged attack?

Looks like the Dev's have seen the nastiness of the space frogs and have toned them down.

30 Days of Night 28 days LaterVampires versus Zombies? I'd watch that, I'd play that.

Re: Abilities Discussion
The though there is to give some kind of forgiveness if you miss a block and to give something other than Invulnerability a chance to work.

Re: Abilities Discussion
I also had a lot of trouble telling when he was about to go nova on me' date=' though the fact there were ten players, plus pets, beating on him may have contributed to the confusion.[/quote']Yeah, it takes a lot to bring him down. I wonder if it would be so bad if Viper-X spit out half damage and double the number of big attacks.

The Viper-X Debacle: A Recent Play Experience with Regeneration
While trying to save our beloved mayor the final challenge is to face off versus Viper-X a level 20 legendary villain. At level 20 I'm hovering around 2300 Health. Lady Night uses both Regeneration and Resurgence. In a normal fight, even versus a Super-Villain this works well.
However, it is important to note that the ability to regenerate damage means nothing if you can be killed with a single hit. That is to say once Viper-X took an interest in me I was routinely hit for 2700+ damage. Now comes the blocking question. Champions is good about offering a tell before a foe fires off some nasty attack and although not perfect I'm fairly good at the whole blocking thing. It would seem though that if only due to shear awesomeness I found myself completely unable to block versus Viper-X. For the purpose of this example I will assume I never managed to block as that kind of damage being post block is just really scary.
To sum things up, for Regeneration characters if you're going in against some of these big guns bring meat shields... uh... I mean friends.

Re: Abilities Discussion
Slotted Passives:
Invulnerability - Clean straight forward Damage reduction. At it's base level seems to knock off a quarter of the damage or so.
Regeneration - At it's base level this seems like an okay power. It's a bit hard to manage if you get more than a few enemies on you. I think I liked the Invulnerability better it was a flat damage reduction and you knew exactly where you were. Also, I have not advanced Regeneration yet because there is no highlighted data for level. This may be a simple description error.
Passive Support:
Resurgence - This is a nice boost for regeneration. Click power you see an immediate jump in Health followed by an overall increase in Regeneration amounts for a brief period. The difficult part here is judging when to use Resurgence for maximum effectiveness. With a base cool-down of 90 seconds it can be tempting not to use it when you may actually really need it. Also, you may use it too soon losing some portion of the initial boost.

Re: Screenshots
Most of these look like they could be panels from an actual comic book. Very nice.Thank you, the way te game queues attacks you're able to just go into a fight and start hitting print screen. I'm hoping to score some better action shots but I'm doing Snake Gulch stuff now and beating up robot cowboys doesn't seem right for Lady Night screens.

Okay, Screen shot time.

Re: Difference between games?
Freedom Force had a more customizable chargen, and it didn't need individual GM approval for the characters...-shnar
That's correct but what you are leaving out is characters with more effective powers had a higher cost. Overall I think Champions Online does a good job bringing the flavor of the game. It is very much larger than life, there are a lot of different ways to advance your character and it is definitely more flexible than any other true MMO.
As for taking an Energy Blast choosing a special effect and graphic look that is essentially what you have now. So what if it's call _______ you chance the color and emanation point and although the internal proc is the same your firebolt is now the Black Flames of Thull or whatever.

Re: List Your CO Heroes!
Lady Night: Lady Night was born with the ability to manipulate darkness. Studying arcane binding rituals she has learned to control her naturally unstable powers over the years. This character was inspired by a villain from my Metahumans Rising campaign.

Re: Earth x DC Comics like setting
Sure they could. Here's an example the Axis invades the continental US. After a series of defeats US forces are forced to evacuate inland. This modern Canada includes several northern states after having aiding in fortified the US position.
For the record I doubt it's feasible as well I would expect a strong narrative to explain how Canada remained unoccupied when the US fell.

A player wants to be able to heal any sickness. He's taken some healthy healing powers including resurrection. However, I'm not sure this would cure things such as cancer or other diseases that slowly change the body. This seems like a Transform. My questions:
Is healing the right power to cure a life threatening disease?
If not would it remove symptoms and what is the correct way to cure a disease in hero?

Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea...
Good Idea: Dark Angel HeroBad Idea: Dark Shadows Hero
BAD idea as someone who watched the original run of dark shadows i beg to differ, the show would make an excellent UFH campaign
I think a Dark Shadows game has a lot of potential. Just look at how many times they've tried to remake it. They are in fact still trying since we'll have a movie next year.

Re: Hero System Good Idea/Bad Idea...
OMG I laughed so hard I had to run to the bathroom! If you played Dresden Dolls Hero, you'd have hysterical skills.
"I have a 8- in piano"
"What do you play?"
"PIANO!"
Hay give Miss Palmer a bit more credit than that she probably has a good 14- or 15- but if we're playng Dresden Dolls Hero I want the stats on Yoko aka Neil Gaiman.

Re: What's the craziest thing your Supers have ever done?
Yeah. This is the same group that named itself the Ann Arbor People's Justice Co-operative. Also done about 3 a.m., IIRC.How about some "good crazy"?
I was running a Champions game where one PC hero was Hunted by Dr. Destroyer. (Yeah, he was a masochist.) So at one point, the PC was kidnapped and taken to Dr. D's remote mountain base, and his teammates had to break in and rescue him. After fighting their way through various of the doctor's minions, they finally rescue their teammate... when Dr. D himself shows up. Definately an oh-$h!t moment for them. They were really trying to get in and out without facing the Big Bad himself. To their credit, they didn't freeze or panic, but went on the offense immediately.
Since Dr. D was standing right in front of a wall, the team brick did a full-speed move-through on Destroyer, knowing he was going to KO himself in the process. And to his eternal joy he rolled a critical hit (a 3 on the attack roll, for which I automatically give max damage). With nowhere to go knockback-wise, both Dr. D and the hero also took damage slamming into the wall. After eveyone else's attacks did nickle-and-dime damage, the two amounts of damage combined actually managed to take Destroyer below 0 STUN.
At that point, someone said, "Oh, crap. He's REALLY gonna be pissed. RUN!!!" And they beat a hasty retreat, leaving Dr. Destroyer embedded in the wall. Truly an awesome moment for them.
It's like one of those adages parents like to use. If you're going to do something even if it's simple always try to be the best at it.

Re: Help with scale for an airport
I've spent all too much time at O'Hare. You're probably not far off: I'd guess about 30 metres - say 100 feet - or maybe a little more. However, much of the space on both side is taken up by small shops/kiosks, so the space in-between is only about half that in many places.cheers, Mark
Recently while working out a death trap for my players I realized just how easy it is for them to cover great distances. The full length of the concourse my only be 15-20" in hero terms a full move for a lot of heroes and only a half move for some.
