Currently running a Savage Rifts game, specifically the With Spartacus plot point campaign from Atlantis and the Demon Seas. The heroes had just completed the Uprising at the Coliseum adventure and we're running a story to shut down an indoctrination center as part of Heroes Fiddle While Splynn Burns. Context for non-Rifts people, it's a post-apocalyptic setting that effectively dumps every heavy metal album cover into the same universe, super-science, magic, and other weirdness are all on the table. Atlantis is back and controlled by an evil alien intelligence as part of their interdimensional empire. Atlantis has a robust slave trade, raiding the North American and European coasts. More so, they will leverage brain washing and religious cults to further their goals. As part of their adventure I had them have bio-borgs, being created through bio-wizardry, but the book doesn't have a basic example, so I had to build one. This Reddit post has more details on the adventure, but the short version is I created these brainwashed creatures called Angel-Keepers that are like a bloated oversized cherub with tentacles hidden in their chests: Player Quotes: - F--- everything about Atlantis - F--- these guys in particular - I hate everything about this. Let me add, this was all said with smiles and while having a good time. The Angel Keepers just did a really good job of squicking the players out.
