  1. Re: What rule don't people know?

    This rule:

Steve, I looked in the Ultimate Brick and didn't see a clear answer to this Question. I also checked the FAQ's.

If I use a martial attack and a normal punch in a multiple power attack, how much END does it cost?

    Assume a 50 STR brick.

    5 or 10?

Re: Multiple power attacks and STR

5, because a character only has to pay END for his STR once per Phase no matter how he uses it. Otherwise it would be 10.

  2. Re: [build] True Sight

Another way to build it is to use N-Ray Vision. What can't you thru? Reality. I.E you see right thru Illusions to the true reality. So for example I create an illusion of a giant from a normal person. When using the N-Ray vision, you would see the person instead of the giant.

  3. Re: No way to win...?

I think having them fight her before you run any of this adventure would be the way to go. That way, when they save her from DEMON they have the chance to stop 2 great evils instead of one. I would have either the detective in the group or the mystic notice the resemblence to the older version of Katya.

  4. Re: Disads on a suit of powered armor?

This would be a great running campaign item. Different people get the suit and try to get it fixed or modified. But never quite doing it. So it would still have the activation rolls and characteristic modifiers. Sometimes the activation rolls would be higher on some abilities lower on others. Some would be heroes some would be villains. Different names different paint job slightly different abilities each time. You could do a lot with this idea. I will be repping you for this idea.

  5. Re: What Are Your Hero's Most Embarrassing Moments?

    My most embarrassing moment hmmm....

That would be time while, under Chicago walking thru a illegal toxic waste dump, his uniform...disintegrated. The whole thing even his ...UNDERCLOTHES!

He finally finds his way out in true brick fashion: He jumps up and does a move thru on the ceiling of the tunnel to land in front of a female New Reporter and her camera man as they are broadcasting in National coverage with every thing swinging in the wind.

He was given a speedo made of unstable molecules from Marvel. Afterwards.

  6. Re: Disads on a suit of powered armor?

I would put a limitation on the suit. Doesn't add to character stats. Or if the character stats are higher than what the suit provides, they can damage it. I would allow it to increase stats based on a sliding scale. i.e. it increase a normals stats a lot. However the 60 STR brick gets into the +40 str suit, it limits his str to 45 and if he uses more strength than that he risks damaging it. Not sure how you would value this. This would be a uses for KillerShrikes Threshold framework, used kind of in reverse.

  7. Re: Help: Hyperspatial Balls

Were these inspired in any way by the ball-bearings carried by title character in the original Starman movie?

No they weren't. But you did give me a doozy of an origin. The Man using these was the Expert called in to analyze those balls after Starman died. He figured out partially what they were and how they worked. He also figured out how to make his own. Unfortunately, he didn't quite understand what the balls were and made something similar. The balls He made are planes he folded into little balls. What the Starman's balls were was the left over bit of matter from creation. He has the only remaining ball from the Starman in his lab in a safe.

  8. Re: Help: Hyperspatial Balls

What exactly is the special effect of his...umm...balls? How does this power WORK?

They appear to be small metal balls, about the size you would find in a pinball game.

Hyper spatial Ball: a pocket dimension that has been folded many times until if formed a ball like shape. A "Trans-Etheric Quantum-Field" holds it in place. When trapping someone there, it unfolds a little transporting him or her there. The pocket dimension rules forbid shadows. It has a unidirectional light that comes from everywhere. It is about as bright as a lightly overcast day. It is a featureless field. Another rule is that you do not need to eat or drink. This has prevented life from forming.

Someone with Dimensional Navigation and EDM could use this dimension as a stop point as it is an "open" dimension. They could also travel thru it to many other alternate dimensions/parallel worlds. This is why having EDM is a defense against this attack. Another rule is that anyone who enters this dimension is invisible to anyone else in this dimension unless they enter thru the same portal. This means no meeting in this dimension by entities from 2 different planes. This can be overcome with trans-dimensional senses that cost x5 end. (Primal entities must pay primal)

  9. Get you spaceballs jokes out of the way now.

The character controls small 1" 'balls'. These are actually balls of hyper-spatial pocket dimensions. I plan on giving him 8 of these. One of the powers he has with them is EDM UAA defense is dodge, EDM, missile deflection not defined as grabbing them, or t-port that is defined as moving thru an extra-dimensional space.

He also can do 'normal' thing you could do with a superball. i.e. eb vs pd, auto-fire in enclosed space(bouncing around the room and hitting you more than once, roll for each hit) and so forth.

What I am having a problem with defining is when he traps someone in the pocket dimension, he loses use of that Ball and all other uses of that ball. This means he can trap up to 8 people this way. When he gets back to his base he can release them into a holding cell.

    How would you represent this?

  10. Re: What rule don't people know?

Another way the system favors low Dex characters: If you plan on taking a recovery in your phase and you get damaged, but not stunned, before your Dex comes up, you still get your recovery in that phase. If you take damage after your Dex, it blows your recovery. Another reason why low Dex bricks are so hard to knockout. I ran across this rule the other day while reading the rulebook.

  11. Re: Watch out! New Superhero in town!!

Now with slightly more Super powers:

Sorry, I know I should add a back story to character but tonight was play with numbers night...[/QUOTe]

I would recommend Rapid Sight at least 2 levels. For when he is going Noncombat. His top speed in the super version is over the speed of sound.

  12. Re: WWYCD: Fans and cons

Adventus: A stuntman and b-movie star. He would have a blast. Sign autographs for a small fee. All the proceeds would be donated to the Red Cross, which is his other job. He is a first respondent to major catastrophes.

Pyhrus: Would go in his super ID. While showing off for the fans would cause a major fire at the con. which he would command to go out and it would. But only after causing a $2,000,00 in damages.

  13. I recently watched NOVA and they are talking about Apothis. This is an asteroid bigger than the Rose Bowl football stadium. It will pass with 24,000 miles of earth in 2029. And depending on the course it takes after that close call, it may return in 2036. Only this time it will land in the pacific ocean about 1000 miles off the coast of California at about 7.6 miles per second.
