  1. Don't forget strange beasts like the Jovian Montressor or the Vornian Mole or the Lightning Beasts that gave the Lightning siblings their powers. More than one issue revolved around recruiting drives (and attempted infiltrations by spies and assorted bad guys). The Science Police! Star-crossed Romances! The Espionage Squad! Brainiac 5's inventions getting out of hand! The Legion of Supervillains! Besides the flight rings, transuits (not part of the ring but an expandable capsule, to reconcile the differing views on transuits) and telepathic earplugs, the Legion occasionally used Distorters to provide them with hologaphic disguises, I think they were belt-worn discs. Blasts from the past: the Tornado Twins (descendants of Barry Allen), Superboy and Supergirl, and Monel. Whatever happened to: the Oans and Green Lantern Corps, Thanagar, other alien worlds established in 20th century, descendant of famous heroes and villains, immortals, etc. Legion writers got alot of mileage out of exploring this question. A very rich mine, here.
  2. In my campaign, Bronze Avengers are supers less powerful than Silver Avengers that act as extra-heavy hitters for Iron Guard and Assault teams. Usually they are top Assault Agents selected for a streamlined (cheaper) version of the Silver Avenger treatment--either they were not compatible with the full treatment or the funding was just not available. Some were prospective Silver Avengers on whom the treatment was less successful than normal. Most of the rest are really good Martial Artists or Gun Bunnies, but now I'm stealing the brilliant idea of having advanced Iron Guard suited Bronze Avengers. If a player wanted to play a Bronze Avenger, I would entertain pretty much any origin: the FBI has supersoldiers it didn't make itself, why not PRIMUS? In a related vein, my PRIMUS is involved in the Legacy Project, a scheme to use the Bronze Avenger treatment combined with special training and gadgets to create heroes that appear to be independent but report to PRIMUS. The usual tack is to pick a historical super and use their name and "theme" as the basis of a new hero. Want to put a Legacy Project super in Millenium City? There's a new Mr X in town! These guys love to join established hero teams or even inspire independent heroes to start their own. They bring alot to any team, including special skills (alot of these guys are more skilled than Silver Avengers, often having done a tour in another branch of Primus than their original one), contacts (PRIMUS, natch), and resources (whatever their secret PRIMUS budget allows). They make great player characters for those that enjoy running a character with divided loyalties. The one that I used in my campaign was Chicago's new Knight Owl, really an intelligence agent turned Iron Guard operating an experimental flying armor suit.
  3. I think it might be Freya or Idun you're thinking of. I can't think of a single myth where Thrudn (?) figured. Of course I'm going by memory so I could be (gasp!) wrong.
  4. I vaguely remember something about Thor's daughter--Thrudn, maybe? Probably with strong lightning or storm powers, as she was supposed to embody Thor's power (as Magni represented his strength and Modi his courage and fury). I also think Sigyn, Loki's wife and arguably goddess of fidelity, survived.
  5. "Jack: a good scarecrow name" Jackstraw. A word. Straw Jack. Not a word but might work. Tatterdemalion: I think he dissolved money, too, and used a weighted muffler (I am not making this up) as an entangling weapon. Oh yeah, and he smelled so bad it could actually make people close to him sick. At least he had a tight theme!
  6. Many thanks, a very informative response and a good reason to save my sheckels. I can feel my resistance to signing up for Digital Hero weakening.... Hero Games has made me a very happy camper, it's been my favorite system since the late 80s and for awhile there I thought I would never see any new products on the shelves again. This Lost Worlds thing sounds like just my cup of tea.
  7. A very interesting homage to Marvel's Eternals, but sketchy, could have used an example character. Crooks and Crusaders has an example of their evil (Deviant) counterparts the Lemurians. I'm very interested in using the Empyreans, does anyone know of any upcoming plans to detail more information about them? Informed speculation is also welcome.
  8. Doctor Archetype (Channeler) Talion (Vigilante, from Hebraic Law "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth) Bifrost (from the Norse "Rainbow Bridge", a teleporter) Action Grrl Marduk (Babylonian storm god) Techyon (Fast gadgeteer) Lurker Matrix (Power mimic) Archmage Online (Cyberpath)
