  1. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? The two Jonathans, Frid and Harris, used to do panels together at Atlanta Fantasy Fair convention every year. Two more gracious and talented men I have never met.

  4. Re: A Thread for Random Videos When I show up to evict your parent it ends in tears.
  5. Re: And now, for your daily dose of cute... I was just doing it for the halibut, but the thread is starting to flounder. We may have lobster way.
  6. Re: And now, for your daily dose of cute... Don't be such a crab about it!
  7. Re: Film Noir Hero LADY IN THE LAKE (1947) Adrienne (Audrey Totter): “Do you fall in love with all of your clients?” Philip Marlow (Robert Motgomery): “Only the ones in skirts.” THE THIRD MAN (1949) Lime (Orson Welles) to Martins on ferris wheel: “You know, I never feel comfortable on these sort of things. Victims? Don't be melodramatic. Tell me. Would you really feel any pity if one of those dots stopped moving forever? If I offered you twenty thousand pounds for every dot that stopped, would you really, old man, tell me to keep my money, or would you calculate how many dots you could afford to spare? Free of income tax, old man. Free of income tax."

  9. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread I try to never embarrass my boss and the poor Finnish guy stuck next to John Gault needed a hero.
  10. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread "Dear Pol Pot, I hope this letter finds you under house arrest..."

  12. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Last night, at this business conference, we were taken out to eat -- that's good -- with a bunch of people we didn't know -- less good -- one of which was a devote follower of Ayn Rand -- yeah. I was very politic and said that, as a student of philosophy, Ayn Rand's views were, like most philosophies, valid when observed in a vacuum -- then I faked a phone call and finally got back to my room at midnight with a 7 am meeting today. The good part: My boss and I just had burgers so that he can go hide in his room -- so I can hide in my room and finally relax. And I go home tomorrow to my girl, my dog, and the new air conditioner that was installed today.
  13. Re: The cranky thread There is an Aussie joint in Huntsville, Alabama (of all places) that serves excellent Kangaroo. Of course, Huntsville used to host Congress, then NATO, then the Soviets, so Governor's Drive has about 50 restaurants that would qualify as 5-star.

  17. Re: The cranky thread Also Ortolan Bunting and the Century Egg. I am an American -- if it ain't nailed down, we'll eat it.
  18. Re: The cranky thread Ah. Like the maggot cheese in Italy. I actually want to try that one.
  19. Re: The cranky thread As an American I would like to say that most of us will eat anything not nailed down -- but I can't find anyone who'll eat lutefisk, ok, maybe on a dare.
  20. Re: The cranky thread Who would actually admit to eating it?!?!
