  1. I'm curious about some power or power combinations that you as a player or GM came across that you thought awful cheesy? In 5th edition, I had a player in my group who used the power AID where half the points ended up in PD and the rest of the points back into AID creating a perpetual motion machine like power. As far as I know it wasn't illegal but kind of cheesy.
  2. How have players or the GM used the wealth perk in your games? Is the perk just flavor or do you they give any special benefit to the characters?
  3. Has your PCs encountered the Master Villains like Doctor Destroyer, Mechanon, Menton, etc...? Have they been in direct combat with the big guys, fought the minons or is more of a cameo?
  4. What's been your experience with the Hunted disadvantage? How have the PCs used it? How does the GM use it?
  5. To me the +2 Cosmic represents three things: 1) Auto hit; target DCV will drop to 0 unless protected by cosmic defenses. 2) Attack goes right through target's defenses (normal, resistant, etc..) unless protected as per #1 3) Attacker can choose the amount of damage to do (as per his attack damage) unless target is protected as per #1 This advantage could easily be broken down in advantage cost as having only one of these is +1/2, two would cost +1 and all three +2 I know HERO doesn't handle absolutes well but I was trying to open up the discussion.
  6. For bypass p103 of the GURPS Character (4th edition) book explains it as: Attack does negate targets protection; innate attack ignores DR For block (same page) your desolid power can bypass barriers not protected by cosmic protection. Hope that clarifies ?
  7. GURPS has an advantage called Cosmic that allows powers to bypass normal defenses or have defenses that block normal attacks. Does HERO have something equivalent? If not I was thinking of using the cosmic advantage as indicated the power pool build. Would "+2" advantage be about right or should it be or or less?
  8. GURPS has a cosmic modifier to bypass defenses. I don't see anything similar in HERO regarding this. The only things that come close is ACV, AVAD or Penetrating. What kind of modifier would something like that be worth? What would the cost of a defense be against a cosmic attack? IIRC GURPS cost of a cosmic modifier is 300% so would +2 be acceptable?
  9. I think another thing that needs to be addresses or clarified is precognition. I've seen a couple of threads where some believe that when they buy the 40-point power there PC's can foresee every thing that will happen globally (or greater) and with pinpoint accuracy to prevent something or aid them in the adventure. ? Why even show up to the game at all if your players are going to abuse precognition that way I know that's not what the power says but that's the perception some players come away with.
  10. What skills, perks, powers, advantages, etc... do you believe have not been covered or fully addressed in any of the Hero books? I know the money perk should have access to a non-combat resource pool for cars, houses, contacts, etc... for the wealthy PC.
  11. What builds (powers, advantages, etc...) that you may have heard, seen or can think of that would be seen as munchkin or power gaming to some? For example; If I remember the Aid power right you can divide in a certain number of ways as to where the points go. One person in my group sent half the points into his ED and the other half into Aid. The end result was a perpetual motion machine type build!!! I maybe wrong on the interpretation but I didn't see anything written to say it couldn't be built I'd like to see some of the ways players have "twisted" the game to make them the "Ultimate" PC" ?
  12. How often, especially in the superhero setting, do you use skills? I'm not talking about skills tied into powers but the things like KS, PS or SS skills It seems like our group just uses powers (especially power or gadget pools) to resolve most issues. It also seems like the villains, as written in the books, seem to have the same block of skills w/certain exceptions. Are the skills you buy actually used or do just buy them to fill out the character?
  13. Eidetic Memory is a good idea. I also thought of clairsentience with an Image power link; only actual events or replicate them. I'll look into transmit as a link to. Thanks for all the suggestions. Any help greatly appreciated!!!
  14. I'm building the character right now and we haven't gotten into any legal issues yet. Right now I am building the character and the mechanics are confusing me. Some of the suggestions above seem good but not exactly what I am looking for. The PC, as mentioned, is a PI who can see events (past, present, and future) and wants to record them without the use of mechanical devices (ex. bugs) being planted in a room. The PI can then record these audio and/or visual images to aid in his investigations. Thanks for all the previous answers though.
  15. I'm building a character who is a private eye that is a clairvoyant. He wants to be able to record what he senses on to a physical recording device like a camera or IPOD. Other than clairsentience what other power or advantage would be needed to simulate this?
  16. Fight the Axis baby!!! Its good!!! http://www.herogames.com/index.html/_/store-items/new-product-golden-age-champions-pdf-r215
  17. The Book of Time. Unlike Champions 3d which discusses traveling to alternate dimensions the Book of Time should discuss time travel and and effects of traveling through time. Things in the book should include: -A timeline of important dates or events a traveler may come across -A master time villain: for example; a villain who has an army of soldiers and equipment plucked form different eras -A society (i.e. Time Lords) who monitor and police temporal activity -Maybe new mechanics or builds discussing things like removing yourself from the timeline so you won't damage it or yourself. A good example is the Grandfather Paradox often talked about. I could go on but that would be some of the highlights in the book.
  18. Re: "Hail to the Condiment King, baby!" You've been watching those Batman: Animated Series reruns again haven't you?
  19. Re: Questions about Money Perk I got in a discussion about this on the Advanced Players Guide II board. What I suggested was for every point of wealth maybe add 5 to 10 points in a resource pool referenced from the Dark Champions book or put together some kind of VPP. It might help to distinguish the difference between the average person vs the Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark types.
  20. Re: ADVANCED PLAYER'S GUIDE II -- What Do *You* Want To See? I think what many want (myself included) is going beyond just "I spent 1-15 points on the wealth perk" now what can I do with it? I think the wealth rules are a little vague as to what you can/cannot do with it. I like some of the ideas of using floating perks, resource pools, etc... or extras to make the player a little more "resourceful" than those that do not have the wealth perk. Just my $.02
  21. Re: CHAMPIONS BEYOND Sneak Peek: The Cover! I'm curious if there are villains that even Doc D would have to use the F word for.... FEAR!!!!!
  22. Re: ADVANCED PLAYER'S GUIDE II -- What Do *You* Want To See? +1 I too would like to see an expansion on the wealth rules. Perhaps a combination of a VPP/resource point rules from Dark Champions could be used or maybe for every 1 pt of wealth you get 1/5/10 points your allowed some things of non-combat material or maybe the use of something for a one-time only session only. The Bruce Wayne / Tony Stark types always seem to have access to high (or higher) tech stuff not to mention other "incidentals" that make them stand out from the average man on the street
  23. Re: THE BOOK OF THE DESTROYER: What Do *You* Want To See? I'd like to see an alternate storyline of Destroyer that decided to help mankind (much like Champions in 3-D aka Professor Preserver) rather than threaten it. A list of doomsday devices that DocD has threaten the world with. Maybe a top 10 list (much like the FBI's) of most wanted heroes/villains that has crossed his path. Another vote (if there is any) for a superhero of like power and/or one that Destroyer has come to respect in previous encounters.
  24. With News of the World book slowly leaking out the various FLG's and other distributors, I have a question about the next book that will be out soon: Villans, Vandals and Vermin; who is in it, how many pages is the book and could you in a few words describe them please?
