  1. Re: Star System Generation

Astrosynthesis is a pretty good program although it generates way too many systems even on the lowest setting, in my opinion. I did start development on a Windows app using the Star Hero generating system, but it's no where near complete.

  2. Re: The Good and Bad about Marvel and DC

Just to show how opinions can differ, I'd easily put "Super Hero Squad" on the "Bad" list. I've never understood the appeal of that show.

Something both Marvel and kid-oriented I'd put on the "Good" list would be Chris Giarusso's old Mini-Marvels.

This I'd have to agree with. I dropped Super Hero Squad after three episodes. Avengers: Earth's Mightest Heroes is on my Good list, currently, but it is borderline.

    DC Good: Young Justice

DC Bad: Green Lantern: The Animated Series (borderline liked how the story progressed through the first season; did not like the animation).

  3. Re: Map Pieces

I use Dundjinni. It is easy to use' date=' has a Modern set of tiles to use along with a website with very active and helpful artists who have made me many items for maps that I don't have the skill to do my self.[/quote']

Whoa!! This is available for purchase again! This was at the top of my list for a mapping software (mainly because Campaign Cartographer is more $$ than I can justify for what I need), but was unavailable for purchase (issues with the online store or some such). Will definitely be purchasing after work today!

  4. Re: What third party Hero products would you like to see?

I'd like to see a volume of maps. Generic maps for as many sites as possible' date=' for all genres: fantasy castles, temples/abbeys, caves, wizard's keeps; sci-fi starships and space stations; modern-day military bases, office buildings, warehouses/docks, ocean vessels; super-hero and -villain bases; if possible, city maps suitable for each genre. And anything else one could think of.[/quote']

Related to this; battle map tiles (like you can get for D&D), but with hexes instead of grids.

  5. Re: Enhancing weapons

In the current version, it's fire bullets surrounded by fire. One hit roll, both sources of damage have to overcome armor separately. That sounds like a linked Blast to the RKA of the bullet. I guess if I have Link, I don't apply the focus. But reading the rules, it looks like I could apply the increased loading time of the single-shot guns. (Unless the character wants it to work instantly if she ever gets her hands on guns with a higher ammo capacity)

I'm designing a ranger for a player who wants to do this with his arrows, and this is how I'm thinking of doing it. I'm not 100% sure Linked is valid with "free" Heroic equipment, but that's how I'd do it.

  6. Re: Ben 10: Omniverse

I didn't like the art style on Teen Titans, either. At least at first. The story was good enough that the art style became acceptable to me. I'll also give Ombiverse a try since I really enjoyed Ultimate Alien.

  7. Re: Ben 10: Ultimate Alien

Well, the series is almost wrapped up, so just a couple of quick notes for now:

Of course, all of the above aliens will probably appear in the next series at some point (I've already seen the new design for Eatle, for example)

When you say new series...are they renaming it?

  8. Re: MYTHIC HERO Kickstarter

;) Having BotE backers help me create Champions characters was such fun that I'm really looking forward to collaboratively creating an example pantheon... or hopefully two or three. ;)

I really went back and forth on whether to do one of the "help Steve create a god" levels, but ulimately didn't, as I really don't think I'd be able to come up with a good idea. I am pledging, though, since I really want this one!

  9. Re: Why I prefer HERO System over Pathfinder/OGL/D&D for fantasy

When Fantasy Hero came out it was a natural to stop using AD&D because we were all sick of the rigid rules about character creation. We also liked the fact that we moved away from the attitude of "I am a 10th level ranger, those 20 orcs don't scare me." to "Dang 20 orcs I wonder if we/I should run away and fight another day." A couple of lucky hits and you might be dead.

This! My group at the time also tried Fantasy Hero when it first came out because we were all tired of all fighters looking the same in AD&D. While D&D 3.x and 4 is a bit more flexible, there is still a lot of rigidness to it (as would be the case for any class-based system).
