  1. Re: Hudson City & Predators

    FenrisUlf, here's the dilemma...

On one hand, anything I have seen that's done by Steve Long is, in my opinion, done well. Steve just seems to develop a product well, and although it's a complete and well conceived product, he leaves you just enough room to put your own personal "campaign spin" on his work, and do so with very little effort on your part.

On the other hand, I can't say the same for Darren Watts' products. Most of the stuff just seems underdeveloped, and not quite completely finished. Your going to have to work a lot more, and expend a lot more effort. Now before I get blasted by Darren (and the Darren Watts Fan Club), this is just my opinion.

What is it that you need? That is what you need to ask yourself.

Do you want a fantastic campaign setting for your Dark Champions campaign? If so, then purchase Hudson City: The Urban Abyss.

If it's adversaries for your Dark Champions campaign that you need, then purchase Predators.

It's not so much which one you should get. It's more defined by what you really need...wouldn't you agree?

  2. Re: Secret decoder

Sorry that more of us can't be part of your "super secret club"... Not all of us are "super cool" like you guys...

You're all just a big bunch of poopie-heads!!! :nya:

I guess that means Pulp Hero goes further down my list of priorities. Champions is still my favorite...to say the least!

  3. Re: The Onion uncovers new Supervillain

    here

How many points do you think the transform is worth?

That article reminds me of a very strange joke...

It seems these three engineers were all contemplating what kind of an engineer God was when He created Man.

The first engineer stated, "God had to have been a Mechanical Engineer, for the symetry of the human body, and it's perfect design meant that this must be the case."

The second engineer made his case by stating, "God must have been an engineer specializing in Fluid Dynamics, for the circulatory system, as well as the heart, are the greatest fluid dynamics system ever created."

"You're both wrong!" the third engineer stated, "God had to have been a Civil Engineer!"

"How can you possibly explain that?" questioned the first engineer.

The third engineer quizzed, "Well...Who else but a Civil Engineer would be foolish enough to place the DUMP next to the PLAYGROUND?" :nonp:

  4. Re: Has the game made anyone like comics even more?

Ironically, comics has made me like the game more.

That is to say, the current death spiral of DC and Marvel has made me more eager to go do some superhero RP, becase if I can't /read/ the kind of superhero stories that I like, maybe I can fuggin' /create/ some.

Chuckg, I concur...As a roleplayer, and long time GM, comic books made me enjoy the Champions System all the more.

For the most part...it's almost like I never left.

    A WORLD WITHOUT HEROES

From the Album (Music From) The Elder

    A world without heroes

Is like a world without sun

You can't look up to anyone

    Without heroes

    And a world without heroes

Is like a never ending race

Is like a time without a place

A pointless thing devoid of grace

Where you don't know what you're after

    Or if something's after you

And you don't know why you don't know

    In a world without heroes

    In a world without dreams

Things are no more than they seem

    And a world without heroes

Is like a bird without wings

Or a bell that never rings

Just a sad and useless thing

Where you don't know what you're after

    Or if something's after you

And you don't know why you don't know

    In a world without heroes

    There's nothing to be

    It's no place for me

  6. Re: Wanting to make a character, need advice. :)

Part of the problem when you try to put too many concepts into one character...the character has a tendency to develop too slowly. The character doesn't real have any focus point with which to get a handle on.

My suggestion is to take some serious heed to Sylevus' suggestion about the concepts.

Doing too much in a RPG, especially in a Champions campaign, means that the special qualities of the character become "watered down"...and no longer special.

  7. Re: Supervillains and the death penalty

Any crime that would earn you the death penalty in the real world will earn you the death penalty in my campaigns. Any Super criminal that can be controlled (or that the government thinks can be controlled) can likely plea bargain his way into government service.

I would agree with OddHat here. The same laws that apply to the "normal citizenry" apply to the "superpowered realm" as well. It makes perfect sense.

Why would there be a seperate set of statuates for superpowered people, as far as the death penalty is concerned.

The death penalty can also make some interesting situations, especially where supers are concerned. How about something to the the effect of...The evil Doctor Chu is being given the death penalty for his crimes, and when they pull the switch and turn on the juice for the electric chair, Doctor Chu gains extremely colossal electricity-based superpowers...and drives him even further to insanity.

  8. Re: I really hate when this happens!!!

    Thanks Super Squirrel:

It has been quite rough...and I feel it's just going to get progressively worse under George W. Bush. Finances for me took a nosedive when the first George Bush was in office...but this time it's worse.

I admit it...I am not a fan of our current administration.

Makes me wonder if things continue with the way they are going right now, with soaring gas prices, Bush's "War on Terror" (this generation's Vietnam), etc. if we aren't going to experience the next "Great Depression".

  9. Re: Pulp archtypes.

Science Fiction: John Carter of Mars, Sky Captain (and the World of Tomorrow), Captain Nemo

More Than Just Men: Alan Quartermain, Tarzan, Doc Savage

    Gimmicks: The Shadow, Agent 13

  10. PULP HERO!!!

It's the one genre book I have really been looking forward to...and money is just too tight. Having trouble just making ends meet, as it were.

I've gone from in a six month span of having quite a bit of "disposable income", to just barely living "from paycheck to paycheck". My lady has been out of work for over a year now, and the savings are gone. She's been awfully depressed because she can't find work. HELL...she's even applied to "fast food" joint's, and can't even get a job there. She's over 50, had heart problems shortly after she lost her last job (they had to place a stent in one of her arteries to relieve the blockage).

I hope that things get better. I have tried to remain optomistic...but it does get tougher as time goes on.

I know that this is probably the wrong forum to place this post...just needed a place to vent my frustrations.

  11. Re: Character for Review and naming

If she is defently a violent man-hater (or wants to come across as such), I would proably name her Stilito (after the knife, and add that weapion to her weapion locker).

If she is an explosive expert, Bombshell comes to mind (I am using that name for a deadly duo of a husban and wife superteroist named Crosshairs and Bombshell). But I guess you already have an explosives expert.

Humm...Vixen might work (female fox). Just don't call her the name which rimes with Witch, and means Female Dog.

    It's Stilletto, silly...

Anyway, how about Fem Fatale, since messing with her could prove...FATAL.

  12. Re: What's in a Name?

    Myngu...

Born in Japan...Myngu was a simple man. He worked in the farming fields of his father, and aspired to greated height and lofty ambitions.

The bombing of Hiroshima changed all that. His family gone, but he was bestowed with a great gift...POWER!!!

He would use his new powers to devastate those who devastated his home...he would have revenge.

    Next Name: Franchise

  14. Re: Seventh Sanctum

    Must...get...mind...out....of.....the.....gutter.

    How about...

    • The Blazing Irritant?
    • Itchfury?
    • The Itchy Streak?
    • Mistress Itch?
    • Irritation Enforcer?

All potentially great character names... :snicker:

  15. Re: Seventh Sanctum

It is a great site that I have gone back to from time to time.

I have also frequented that website from time to time. It's got some interesting stuff...especially the Random Name Generators ;)

My next hero for Champions...The Itching Gladiator

  16. Re: B.J. Zanzibar's WoD

It's still one of my favorite sites. Too bad it hasn't been updated in a while.

I know what you mean. When I was running Vampire: The Masquerade I would go there quite frequently.

There is also another great website for VtM and WoD fans it's called Sanguinus Curae: Resource Site for Vampire: The Masquerade.

That is a website I still go to. I am still in contact a couple of times a month with one of the website designers.
