  1. Re: [Need Help] Thors from around the world.

So, do they have to be actual diety/gods, or perhaps just legendary characters...such as Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe, Pecos Bill, John Henry, Sin Tsu, Vlad Tempes (a.k.a. Dracula), Rasputin, Agamemnon, Heracles, Leonardo Di Vinci, etc.

    Just curious...

  2. Re: Speedster - something new for me

Hi everyone. Well after trying for a very long time, my gaminmg group is finally playing in a Champions game (on hiatus from the current D&D game that usually fits this time slot).

Some of my friends are vetran champs players and we've made characters before, so I have a few under my belt. For this new game, I decided I wanted to try to make a speedster, a new one for me.

The books I own are Champions, 5ER, Millenium City, and Conquerors, Killers, and Crooks.

We're doing a 350 point game (200 + 150) and I was wondering if people could point me to some 350 point examples. Whether it's in those books or on the boards or other sites.

Thanks in advance to anyone that lends a hand.

    Andrew

Do you have Hero Designer 2.0?

If so, I could send you a copy of my 350 Point Speedster...named Turbo, The Hypersonic Man.

  3. Re: The Stilleto

The concept has merits...don't know if would be a really viable concept for a Dark Champions campaign though.

I guess it all depends on the setting location and the need for such a vehicle.

  4. Re: Quick Question

    Awesome.

There should be a book that touches on the Military/Espionage world of Champions. Project Sunburst would fit in great there I think.

    Why not...

    ULTIMATE EXPERIMENT!!!

The sourcebook for radiation accidents, experimentations and genetic research in the Champions Universe.

    Just hoping!!! :bounce:

  5. Re: [Fraggle Rock] Really Odd Question

FRAGGLE ROCK on DVD...Very nice indeed!!!

That show brings back memories of watching TV with my children...a must have for me!!! My grandchildren will get a kick out of it. (Yes...I said grandchildren!!!)

    Thanks for the info LeftWingPenguin.

  6. Re: Vehicle as automatons

I didn't want to use the names as we have been asked not to do anything on the boards with CLOWN' date=' but I'm not actually posting any C, just an idea about how to do a team like them with an intelligent AI, that happens to be a car/vehicle.[/quote']

I don't remember that being said anywhere, but...I could be wrong. It's not like C.L.O.W.N. is some sort of taboo, or curse word.

I've actually made a few references to the old C.L.O.W.N. Sourcebook, and I never felt some firey wrath from the "powers that be". :fear::angst:

  7. Re: Your favorite Archetype examples in super hero comics

It really depends on the game, and who's running it.

The majority of the time though...it's the Martial Artist, with a Mystic as a close second.

My Martial Artists usually have some sort of weapons/gadgets to complement their abilities...but usually nothing to the level of Batman's pool of gadgets.

  8. Re: Rules For Picking A Superhero Name

OK, how many of you automatically started trying to think of ways you could make acceptible characters with names like, "Captain Spongecake, Mr. Silly, Yellow Streak, Purple Slippers, and Captain Sweetiepie?"

Keith "Quite Vulnerable To Strontium 90" Curtis

Ok...I admit that I did think about it...even if only for a second or two.:D
  9. Re: Top Ten All-Time 'Favorite' Superhero RPG Books Ever

For me, the list would like like this...

    1) Champions (First Edition)

It's not the best one ever written, but it did become for me the "measuring stick" by which all RPGs are measured.

    2) Champions (5th Edition Genre Book)

This book is the new "measuring stick", by which all of the HERO System genre books are measured.

    3) Hudson City: The Urban Abyss

This is by far the best setting book to date. Well laid out, and fantastically rich setting. Thank you Steve for such a great sourcebook. This is what setting books should be like.

    4) Champions II (First Edition)

This was the best sequel at the time! It had a greater, in depth study of superhero roleplaying in general. It also gave us the original base and vehicle system.

    5) Dark Champions (4th Edition)

The best of the 4th Edition sourcebooks...hands down!!!

    6) Champions (4th Edition)

This was just the complete, "real deal". It updated the HERO System, and brought things in line. It corrected many of the contradictions created by Champions II & Champions III.

    7) Villians & Vigilantes (1st Edition)

A really good friend of mine at the time, George Vilitis, introduced me to the world of Superhero RPGs with this game...so it still holds a sentimental place in my heart. To me it wasn't as good as it could have been, but it start things off for me.

    8) Enemies (First Edition)

It gave us the original "Rogues Gallery" of villians for the Champions game System. Such now classics as Genocide, Bulldozer, Shamrock, and Thunder & Lightning.

    9) Champions III (First Edition)

Just a great source book at the time. Gave even more information on the genre, from a roleplaying standpoint. Helped explore character development at a whole nother level...as well as campaign development as a whole.

    10) Silver Age Sentinels (Tri-Stat System)

I love the Tri-Stat system. The first time I was exposed to the game system was with BESM (Big Eyes, Small Mouth). I never got to play the game, but I do like the system...and it's not d20!!!

OK there's my list, and the reasons why they made the list.

  10. Re: Thank you

Personally, I think a few people who don't play the system involved in the discussions on this Board is welcome.

I also think that we're very good about keeping strict Rules Discussions in the Hero System Forum and more Role Playing Oriented threads in the Genre Forums..

One thing I've noticed as that almost everyone on this board (I would say everyone, but then that'd be a blanket statement) is always willing to let the Game and the Experience trump the System. Which tells me we're all Roleplayers and not Rollplayers, no matter what system we like.

I'd tend to agree with ghost-angel here. After all, how does the old cliche' go...

Variety is the spice of life?

I think it's important to keep a fairly broad mind. Sure, I think that HERO is a great game system...but there are a lot of other great ones out there as well. No game or system should be considered as "unavailable for discussion", they all have merits (yes...even d20 :P )...and should be considered as an "open topic".

I'm glad your participating here on the HERO Boards, Tenzil Kim.

Some new insight is always welcomed...and encouraged.;)
