  1. Modern writers dont get the Captain Marvel that stopped a space invasion by carving his own face on the moon. It turns out in this modern era when Shazam has killed Zeus that Zeus killed a god from another pantheon and put him in Achilles since invulnerability was not enough.

(as an aside I just realized Achilles and Accelerator both act the same way, even with a morality pet that keeps them on the path of good because they are both invulnerable.)

The estate of Marvin Gaye sued Ed Sheeran for plaigirism, because the chords in a Sheeran song are similar to one of Gaye's hits.

Sheeran argued the chords were common musical building blocks.

Sheeran won, which is good news.  My take on most of these cases has been that they've had no merit.  They've been successful enough times, tho, to have notable impacts on songwriters...they have to look over their shoulders, or at least the popular ones do.  So I'm glad this one failed.

I heard this on the radio. These two songs don't sound anything alike. Ed Townsend's estate is involved since he was the writer on this. They sued because the songs felt alike.

  3. Read Heroic Hearts edited by Butcher and Hughes. This is an anthology where people investigate crimes with magic like Toot Toot and Mister foiling an attack of Gremlins on Dresden's castle, Vincent Graves dealing with a murderous leprechaun, or the Moor dealing with a blind date and her Fae tormentor. I liked a lot of these stories even though I don't read most of the authors presented.

  4. he probably should have been reported to the ATF, but since that agency is under attack and having to deal with the Republicans trying to gut it like the IRS, I doubt they had the time or the attention span to pick one guy up. The next agency after the ATF that could be asked for help is Immigration, and I don't know if they would have in this case. Then the FBI might have been called, but they might have refused jurisdiction

I think the only way to save DC is to split the company into a main continuity and an Elseworlds line. If you clearly label the attempts to attract a new non-traditional customer base and keep them separate from the mainstream storylines, you don't alienate your longtime customers.

They do that. Tom King's story of Ice accidentally poisoning the Human Target while trying to kill Lex Luthor was under an Elseworlds label.

  6. Infinite Frontiers collapsed with the firing of Dan Didio. I think there have been ten reboots. There was the original Crisis, Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis, 52. Convergence, Flashpoint, Rebirth, Doomsday Clock, and two more I think revolving around the Dark Metal stuff going on with its villianous Batman.

Infinite Frontiers was the tail end of 5G where all the main heroes like Clark Kent/Superman were replaced by their kids. There was supposed to be a timeline and everything. Dan Didio got fired before that happened.

Geoff Johns is writing a time travel thing where new characters are being introduced as displaced characters like jay Garrick's daughter, Judy.

DC Comics right now is full of fan fiction writers made good so no one knows what the actual continuity right now is except for individual stories, and it's come out I think in Wonder Woman that Shazam has just killed Zeus and made Hera his replacement as the Queen of the Sky.

  7. Watched the Mario movie with the boy. The movie implies that Peach wandered into the Mushroom Kingdom from Brooklyn as a child and became the Toads' champions. The games' themes were used throughout, once by Bowzer teaching a piano lesson. Luigi didn't get quite as much action, but he saves the day at the end.

Any assertion made by the Jewish-space-laser lady should be... well, I guess you can't definitively discount it out of hand, but "treated with skepticism" just isn't adequate.

You don't have to tell me. The word is if Greene pulls her support McCarthy can't hold on to the Speaker position. I don't know how real that is, but if I were McCarthy I would be sweating bullets every night I left the office

Considering that there was a security marking on EVERY page of every classified document I handled, back when I was involved in that...that should be...well...kinda hard to forget....

It looks like you did too, Vlad. The main rule about keeping secrets is not telling.
