  1. Re: Widows & Orphans (PDF Download) I think I will have to pick this up next month. I assume it is laid out for printing. Do you know how many pages it is? Thanks for the help. Bob
  2. Re: urban fantasy hero posts Not that I want to run it or play in it, but it sounds like this covers Harry Potter too. The mix of magic into the real world. I too am excited by the thought and idea. I have been wanting to build a post apocalyptic game were magic has returned and has replaced some technology. There would be a mix of an old school technology driven society in conflict with the group that thinks technology caused the problems. One group has re-discovered magic and is replacing the need for technology with magic. The magic group want to keep the technology group from repeating history. The technology group feel the magic is a "black art" and feels we should not be playing with it. There are fanatics on both sides that want to eliminate the other group. Sounds like I need a copy of Urban Fantasy Hero. Bob
  3. The Widows & Orphans (PDF Download) page in the store does not have a description of what is in the book (PDF). All it says is a Dark Chanmpions Sourcebook. What is Windows and Orphans? It sounds like a group of characters, is that what it is? How many pages? How many characters? Thanks for the help. Bob
  4. Re: Hudson City Blues Ah yes, I had downloaded that and forgot about it. I was looking in the Ultimate Index from the Freebies page. Thanks, Bob
  5. Re: Failure To Stop Drill Real life... Police see perp and give command to stop or I will shoot, holds action. Perp moves forward, use held action to shoot, 2 to the chest, next phase one to the head. (or auto fire three in one phase with two to the chest and one to the head) When a police office shoots his service revolver, 90% of the time it is at 7 feet or less to the target. The perp should be right on your PC when he shoots. There is another move, I do not know what it is called. If the perp is out in front of you, and you gun is still in the holster. The perp starts to move at you. You draw and start to fire as soon as the gun clears the holster The first and second shoots hit the ground between you and the perp. The third shot is low in the torso The forth is high in the torso The fifth is in the head. I work with a cop and heard a story about a southern California cop just back from a FBI training course where he learned this. He and his partner were responding to a call at a house. They were not expecting trouble. As the guy opens the door he has a shot gun. The partner starts to shoot and hits the guy a number of times in the chest, with little results. The guy just back from training dose the above described move, the fifth shot stopped the guy, he was wearing some kind of a vest or body armor. The move save him and his partner. Bob
  6. Re: Susano's Song-Based DC NPCs I have not had a chance to read the entire thread yet. You have BIG JIM WALKER but what about the boy from south Alabama, Willie "Slim" McCoy? In the song Big Jim Walkers gets killed by Slim. He uses a knife and cuts Jim up and shoots him too. At the end of the song the refrain changes from "And you don't mess around with Jim" to "And you don't mess around with Slim". Well out of south Alabama come a country boy He said, "I'm looking for a man named Jim I am a pool shootin' boy, my name is Willie McCoy But down home they call me Slim And I'm looking for the king of 42nd street He's driving a drop top Cadillac Last week he took all my money, and it may sound funny But I've come to get my money back," And when the cuttin' was done The only part that wasn't bloody was the soles of the big man's feet And he was cut in 'bout a hundred places And he was shot in a couple more And you better believe they sung a different kind of story When big Jim hit the floor Bob
  7. Re: Hudson City Blues Thanks for all the replies. 4 Ashtray Ant 5 Tenderheart 6 Plain Jane 7 Crusade 10 Headless Hangman 11 The Hanged Man 12 Mr. Nobody As I read though the HCB I and finding some descriptions of these NPCs. I have found in the back that I missed Mr. Nobody, he is there on page 87. I was also flipping through Hudson City, the Urban Abyss some more and found the Headless Hangman on page 155 in the vigilantes section. There are so many NPCs listed in HC, has anyone out there compiled an index of them? Thanks again for all your help, I think I now have when I need. Bob
  8. Re: Hudson City Blues Steve, Good to see you are well enough to be back on a computer. Thanks for the data. I just need to figure out who to substitute for who: 4 Ashtray Ant 5 Tenderheart 6 Plain Jane 7 Crusade 10 Headless Hangman 11 The Hanged Man 12 Mr. Nobody Any suggestions? Thanks Bob
  9. Re: Hudson City Blues Just starting to read through HCB. On page 10 there is the "Reserved Villians List": Retro Optik The Machine Ashtray Ant Tenderheart Plain Jane Crusade The Card Shark Organization The Mafia Headless Hangman The Hanged Man Mr. Nobody Flipping through HCB I find cahracter sheets and background for: 1 Retro, 2 Optik, 3 The Machine. In Hudson City, the Urban Abyss, I can find: 8 the Card Shark Gang 9 The Mafia In dark Champions there is information on: 9 the Mafia I can not find references for: 4 Ashtray Ant 5 Tenderheart 6 Plain Jane 7 Crusade 10 Headless Hangman 11 The Hanged Man 12 Mr. Nobody These might be spelled out in the text of HSB but they did not pop out at me. Are these villains in JNL? If so I will buy it as a reference, but I do not want to buy it if I do not have to. Thanks for the help. Bob
  10. Re: Odd News - Plot Seed? In game terms... The heroes are in a battle and are mixing a potion they need to defeat a villain, they realize it is not mixing well and they need an egg better to mix it. One of the heroes has been poisoned. The heroes are trying to mix the antidote and need an egg beater to mix the antidote. Our heroes are fighting and the antenna on a weapon of communication device got damaged. The egg beater (whip) is the right size to make a new antenna out of. In real life, one answer, drugs, they guys must have been on drugs. Bob
  11. Re: Hudson City Blues You can buy HCB from Herogames.com https://www.herogames.com/viewItem.htm?itemID=73024 Bob
  12. I just got a copy of Hudson City Blues and was reading it. One of the first things it talks about is Getting "Dark Champions" and Justice, Not Law" as reference books. I have DC and "Hudson City the Urban Abyss", do I need Justice, Not Law also? What is Justice, Not Law? Thanks Bob
  13. Re: Help Me Populate A Creepy Hotel Psychic Desk Worker He/She always knows what you want or what you are going to ask before you ask. You walk to the desk and they answer the question before you ask for it. If you are registering for a room, they will have the key in hand before you ask. If you pay by cash, they will have the exact change in hand before you pay. The Lobby guy He never leaves the lobby, never goes outside, never upstairs. He is in the lobby, lounge or some other public place in the entry area. He never eats or sleeps. He never talks to anyone. He ignores all others. Never makes a noise. If a PC asks the clerk, he will not know who you are talking about. Is he really a ghost of a guest that got killed in the lobby? The PCs might find him in an old painting or picture Where does he live? Everyone “knows” he lives in the building, but no one can tell you what room or even what floor he lives on. He enters the lobby gets into the elevator, but no one ever sees him get off on any floor but the lobby floor. If a PC get into the elevator with him, he will ride to the top floor and back to the bottom and get off and leave the building. If asked what room he lives in, he will either change the subject or remember he has an appointment and leave. The Hermit He never leaves his room. The bag boy from the corner market brings him groceries. His bills are paid on time by mail. He never leaves his room and nobody ever comes to visit him. He has lived in that same room for as long as anyone can remember. He has lived in the hotel longer than anyone else. He never seems to get older. No one even knows his name, he is just referred to as the guy in room 201.
