  1. Re: Bearing Witness

Umm--okay. As stated in the first post' date=' that would get Demandra returned to when and where she left, with no memory of The Castle or Tyler and Tom.[/quote']

What you said was "(This also happens if you choose not to testify, or if you attempt some sort of offensive action.)" She didn't refuse, she started asking questions. Its different.

Thank You for your input' date=' though.[/quote']

    Glad to obligate. :sneaky:

    Can I have conniption fit for $1000' date=' Alex?[/quote']

    Thats Demandra's way.

Why you think she called Demandra?:rofl:

Adam Mgumba's Herbal Shop: The shop is very small, but has a good selection of herbs. Most are common, some a little rare. Nothing the "knowlessmen" can do harm with.

If Adam knows you, given enuf warning, he'll get anything you want (if its a plant). You use it for evil tho you got problems. Cause Adam is a big man, who knows how to fight material plane and psychic. And he's got friends.

    Lots of friends.

    Some are not nice.

Some are very, very, very bad news. :eg:

Aaron' date=' an occult book seller, is a German Jew. He peppers his speech with Yiddish. He is also careful not to sell dangerous books to the uninformed.[/quote']

Fact is, German Jews don't talk Yiddish. They think its a low-born pidgin. They speak German, leave Yiddish to East Eropean Jews.

Check The Joys of Yiddish for more info.

  5. Re: Phone back tracter

I guess I see it as being from cooperation and story telling. GM devices use the rules how is simplest, and anyone going "that means I can do yadda" is not cooperating and not there for story telling.

Arbitrary to keep the story moving is OK by me and who I prefer play with.

Grijze Kat: Moment of the XDM takes cat form. Stays in that form, acting like a normal cat until they give up and send her home.

Demandra: "Who the H#*$ are you? WHAT the H#*$ are you? Where the P$&@ is this? What do you f*$&s think your doing? Most of all,WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'VE GOT THE RIGHT TO RUN HUMANITY AS YOUR OWN LITTLE LAB RATS IN SOME $&@$&ING EXPERIMENT?!!?" Then Push her Intimidation (Mind Control, Only To Intimidate) for all she got. When they stop p*$&@*% themselves, Interogate them.

Celeritius and The Omnimorph would be more polite/politic, but they'd have the same Q's as Demandra. And none would answer Q's until they got their answers.

  8. Re: Cantapole: The Sentient Cantaloupe

I have never heard this term before today. I had to check it up. I love it.

    Bum fodder.

There's standard bumf, there's bizzare bumf. That's the bumf odder.

The animal with the most bumf is the bumf otter.

Someone piles more bumf on what's there is the bumf adder.

:help: Stop me now, for ghods' sake! :help:

  9. Re: What happens when a new GM doesn't understand game balance

We did nothing so formal' date=' but the end result was often the same. We invented the GURPS mage who could buy up the spells Earthvision, Move thru Earth, Deathtouch and Staff (which allowed you to use "touch" range spells with a staff) to the level where he could move freely through the earth, see thru the earth for 50 yards, breathe normally despite being underground (all indefinitely) and smite his enemies with a deadly touch to the soles of their feet from more than six feet below ground with his staff.

Warning: this idea has been stoled. :eg::sneaky:

NRay Vision only through earth and stone

    Tunneling, Fill in

    HKA no STR

    Stretching using a staff.

    Haha! Easy to HEROize. :D

  10. Re: What happens when a new GM doesn't understand game balance

I especially remember fondly the game where we had a village set up with a church in the middle of it. No less than 4 people thought it would be fun to start in the church tower. So the game starts with the GM asking these guys what their actions are and then informing the rest of the players "OK' date=' first phase. The church tower explodes in a giant fireball. Smoldering body parts rain down[/i']." :D

 Proof again the most obvious tactic isn't always the best.

  11. Re: Phone back tracter

He's talking about the use of Mental Powers (which are based on EGO values) to simulate interacting with technology as a whole.

    OH! I see!

It's the old "slippery slope" (aka "sloppery thinking") argument. The idea the boss must say no to a good idea in fear he said yes someone would extend the idea to how its not good.

Dumb. All authority is arbitrary, so use it to your advantage. Good ideas get YES, extended to bad idea gets NO.

If the players go "mommymommymommymommy! Billy has a zap gun, why can't I have a killkillkill gun?" the GM should go "because it's a f*$*# bad idea." If they'll walk cause they don't get to abuse the game, let 'em. You try an keep 'em, they'll walk over you, over the other players, over the idea of cooperation. Who needs that?

  12. Re: Phone back tracter

You are right that MS has built in 'population' limitations' date=' so it is a good pick but my concern is more the consequences for other mental powers if you allow this, you should allow them too, unless it is just a campaign rule, in which case anything goes.[/quote']

 I lost. "Allow this"/"allow them" what? I don't get it.

  13. Re: Cantapole: The Sentient Cantaloupe

How can you take this seriously when I used the word ur-cantaloupe? It's very silly to even argue the point.

    Sigh.

Hang around Internet awhile. You'll quickly find out most people don't know squat. and peddling bumf in the biggest industry on internet. You want to make joke? Fine, that's what smilies are for.

Don't use smilies? You run into experience people, they'll assume you believe the bumf, and the dummer it is the bigger the chance you believe it. Experience says that's the way to bet.

  14. Re: Help Me Populate A Creepy Hotel

Long been suspected, now been proved (GPS, satalite data, etc.) that the hotel moves about a centimeter an a half every year. Direction: west by north. The hotel is not just creepy but creeping.

Scary thing? Its been around decades but its still in same spot on the block! Its creeping, but you can't tell it!

    Its called plate tectonics. :D

  15. You one those odd folx likes Lurching Liver HERO? ;)

Go get Sep 08 National Geographic mag, open to page 112. Have fun!

Ya see, Lurching Liver has spread to Bolivia, where they added women! Yep, women Lurchingdoors! Called "Cholitas" cause their skirts.

    :eek::shock::snicker:

  16. Re: Cantapole: The Sentient Cantaloupe

Well' date=' it does make it sound like it's a Fruit-Wrath, both nouns. Fixed now. It should be Fruit Wroth Mental Powers.[/quote']

That word does not mean what you think it means.

Features do cause HIM to be seen as extremely delicious. Not other people' date=' but him. Of course, other people are going to be hungry when they look at him and guess who is getting eaten first when they are stranded on a desert idea? That tasty orange flesh.[/quote']

No, what you got up there says in plain English is his DF causes deliciousness. He is delicious or isn't, changing himself needs Shapeshift.

The original ur-cantaloupe did grow on trees.

    Cite please.

The creatures that were born from the tree's buds can only replicated through vines. I'm thinking of giving Cantapole duplication when he eventually learns to harvest the ur-tree's power.
