  • Honestly, Jkeown, only so far as Champions Complete and Hero System supports Fantasy Hero which is to say only "loosely". Hero Games is trying something new here, and if it goes well, we would like to

  • Yes. As a matter of fact, that is how I uploaded the characters from Champions Complete and Champions Begins into Roll20 for the upcoming project. Here is a video link that shows you how to do it. Not

Is there a format to export Hero Designer characters into Roll20? That would save an unbelievable amount of time.

There are two JSON exports. One of them works for the official Hero 6th ed sheet, the other works for the custom sheet with the cool Hero Themed colors.

I kept getting them confused.

However as I recall for the official one the process works something like the following steps.

Get "ImportHS6e" and read the linked files, including downloading the JSON export linked on Github.

For the official one

Export the character as the JSON.

Open the JSON as a txt file

Copy the body of the JSON to your clipboard

Open roll20 and make sure the API is running.
Open the character sheet and select edit

Under the GM only field paste the text.

Save the character

select the token linked ot the character sheet (not sure if this step is needed, but I do it)

Run the API code trigger "!i6e --debug"

Hero Games is trying something new here, and if it goes well, we would like to propose to the powers that be following it up with a Fantasy HERO specific compendium like this project. We are early into this project still, so as we get further into it, we're optimistic that we will start having a discussion about what comes next.

But, anyone interested in seeing a similar project for Fantasy Complete or Fantasy HERO, it's a good time to chime in and it may help with  deciding the next venture.

Chiming in here for Fantasy Hero. I'd love to migrate my D&D groups over to any supported VTT platform. +1 if you can eke something out on Foundry as well.

@ccastan Sorry to necro this thread and ask your for some advice if you are willing. I am looking to get back into running Champions (6e) after about 4 decades away from the game. My gaming group is scattered across the US and so we have used Roll20 for our gaming (mostly dnd) up to this point. I have never run anything on roll20 myself, only used it as a player. I was hoping you might be able to provide some guidance for getting myself set up with the right resources on Roll20 to make it easier to run. All I really have so far are PDFs of Champions Complete and the villain books. Few of my prospective players have any real experience with Champions or the Hero system, but I think I can help them with character creation. Also, whether it would be worthwhile to purchase Hero Designer, or if the resources on Roll20 would be enough for us to create characters there.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Getting Hero Designer will help a lot with CharGen
it is in the Hero Store
I generally setup macros for most of my die rolling
below is just a basic punch including a damage roll should the to hit roll succeed
I'm using the (11+final ocv)-3d6 = DCV or lower that is hit
DCV and End cost are for record keeping

[Punch Str 60

end cost 1 ocv 10+1 dcv 5

to hit roll]

/r 21-3d6

[60 str damage]

/roll 12d6s

Is Hero Designer something I can share with my group? At least at the beginning, I don't know if the players will want to each make that investment on their own.

It is fixed to 1 email address
the GM can build everybody's characters with input from the player
there are rtf and html output formats(in the Downloads area of these forums) that the GM can share with those players
the GM can build characters, vehicles, AIs, bases very easily compared to manually writing them out on character sheets

If you need a hand, I'm more than happy to assist(over discord, FB, etc....)

I may take you up on that if or when the game looks like it may get off the ground. Thank you very much for the offer.
