Detect Disasters

That looks like a good build to me.

 

Discriminatory and Analyze give you more information about the thing that is Detected.  6e1p212:  "For example, using Detect Metals, Discriminatory would tell a character that a nearby mass of metal is a nickel/iron composite about 65% nickel, and that it weighs about 200 kilograms."  "If Detect Metals, Analyze, were used on the lump of metal described above, the character would know that the metal is 70% nickel, 23% iron, 4.6% cobalt, and 2.4% iridium; weighs 245.5 kilograms; and is roughly doughnut-shaped with many pits and hollows on the outside."  So I'd say pretty darn detailed!

 

Note that you're using an Unusual Sense Group, so make sure you tack on all the Modifiers to make it function the way you want it to.   You may or may not want Increased Arc of Perception, Penetrative, Rapid, and/or Telescopic.

Well this ability would only allow for the detecting that a disaster is happening, and the mechanics of the disaster area. For example, if it was a flood, they would know how deep the water was in each area, how fast the water is moving in each area, etc... it wouldn't tell them if people were trapped in each area, or how many people, or that kind of thing. The sense/detect is only specific to the "disaster" itself, so the flood, fire, lava, radiation, earthquake, etc...

 

if they wanted to sense "whatever" was happening inside the area of a disaster, like people in trouble, damage to buildings, lost puppies, etc... then that would be more like Clairsentience with a limitation "only in areas of disasters" or something similar.

So, what I would need to generate the effect is Range/telescopic, penetrative, on whatever discriminatory sense with a limitation on the modifiers of Only in Disaster areas. Thats nice. Thanks for the input

From the sounds of it this could be either simply a danger sense that affects the area, or it might actually be more than one power.   More details are needed on what the power is doing. Like anything in hero system, a lot of it is going to depend on special effect.  The best way to build a power is to write down what and how it works without using any game terms.  After that is done go back and figure out what the game effects are and buy them.

Went with range, telescopic, penetrative and rapid with the limitation only into disaster zones on those modifiers and it does everything he wants. He gets lots of data about things that are going on in a Disaster area. I am really liking this character. Thank everyone for the input
