Rechan
Local villains the PCs are sent after are actually working with the Headmaster. Because the kids aren't tough enough to deal with Real villains who will not pull punches/not go for the kill, with mooks who use real bullets, etc, they make setups and send the PCs out on field experience that the PCs believe are real. Using the above, an Actual villain, or an actual crime (like a terrorist attack) happens during one of these field experiments. If the "villain" helps out the PCs, then the jig is up. A Very Popular/recognized Super or Mutant comes to give a speech on campus, but his Arch Nemesis actually shows up. One day everyone in the school wakes up and can't talk. They have lost their voice. Telepathic PCs will become like translators and human intercom systems. Local teen bullies want to show how better they are then these "Mutties" and intend on beating the crap out of someone who's powers can be restrained (projector who has to point, etc). They naturally get driven into the ground, which causes a stir in the community because the "Mutant kids are reckless!". A new kid with uncontrollable powers causes a stir (For instance, unaware they attract all the local girls, causing them to go crazy with "love", has a mental power that makes what other people think appear as mental illusions, etc). A trio of teens with a set of powers try to convince everyone the school is haunted (Illusions, telekinesis and such). A teen is getting addicted to using his powers; or other people get addicted to someone using powers on them. One class gives the kids a project: get into groups, and come up with a creative, non-destructive use of your powers. Mentalists/illusionists may do a play, agile/desols/teleporters might put on a gymnastic performance, etc.
freakboy6117
i advise stealing from the classics road movie got a teleporting charecter give them a temporary megascale boost when they try to take the other players to the mall or something now there stranded 1000 kilometers away with not enough money and no way home get home without alarming the locals or breaking any laws works especially well if they can't call home. doesnt even have to be that far if there being hunted all the way. check out the movie the warriors for a great example of this teh warriors are a street gang who go to a rally in central park then there blaimed for killing a major gang leader now every other gang in new york is hunting them and they have to get back to coney island but teh trains are being wtached teh streets are alive with gang members and cops out to take them down. have the team cut out after hours to go to a party but someone spikes the punch now there drunk and there control over there power is acting up can they avoid outing them selves or causing damage even worse there arch-enemy shows up at the party. how about a trip to the beach sounds great till another teenager comes into there powers and a huge storm engulfs the beach save the civilians and try and help the new super with there powers. school science fair and the resident super genius needs parts now to help him win you have to schlep around the city running errands for all sorts of people to get just the right stuff. lost of fun next to no combat. Kristopher
Part Two I've been thinking, and received some invaluable input, and here's where I am so far: The Engelson Academy (still thinking about the name) is on Bainbridge Island, west of Seattle. It's across Puget Sound from the city, and the skyline should be visible from there. Publicly, the Academy is an exclusive, invitation-only private boarding school. It's actually a "school for mutants". There are about 100 students, most of whom probably won't have the powers, or power level, to be active heroes or villains. Of those who do have adventuring-useful powers, I have the following NPC students written up so far: Agony Pain inducing powers, minor telepathy. Very conflicted about using her powers on others. Blur Speedster. Competative showoff, doesn't like seeing innocent people hurt. Crimson Mutant "vampire", duplicates and aquires mutant powers by consuming a genetic sample such as a mouthful of blood. Desperately trying to keep the exact nature of her powers a secret. Probe Mentalist. Daughter of the American Aristocracy. Addictive tendancies, used to date Rapid. Rapid Autofiring energy blaster, "reformed" hacker and pot dealer, has a serious thing for telepathic contact after dating Probe. Reflex Kinetic energy manipulator, very quick reflexes. Charming and cocky. Thrasher "Quick Brick". Son of very famous mutant superheroes, attending the Academy under an assumed idendity, heavy sense of destiny, doesn't know whether he wants to embrace or reject it. Suffering from brick-sized case of teenage male hormones. Twilight Shadow manipulator, XDM to "Shadowrealm". Obviously a mutant (grey skin, etc), and mute. Older brother and sister both turned out to be mutants as well, spent time at the Academy. Zen "Peak human", a little stonger, faster, smarter, etc, than everyone "normal", martial arts background, Skill and Talent monger. Trying to remain focused and humble despite teenage hormones and plenty to be smug about. So far, my PCs are a electricity manipulator, a teleporter, and a biomanipulator. animemun001
bit o'dark evil fun. what if the PC's where friends with say a Extradimensional Shifter character and that character just happened to invite them over to his house for 'D&D' and well as he always does send himself and the PC's to a fantasy world where he is the evil overlord and they have to defeat him and convince him to return them to their normal world? selective area effect dimensional travel any dimension and time with cosmic VPP that can only to used to change pc's clothes and gear to the 'norm' of the dimension travelled too. given the temporal aspect the pc's don't have to know he can return them all to the same moment he removed them. If this guys evil maybe he kidnaps cheerleaders and leaves them in dark castles or hellish futures after refusing to go out with him. If good maybe he's more of a swashbuckler type that enjoys having fun just a little TOOO much and just generally takes PC's to worlds that he likes to go to also. ((I know it worked rather well in the game I ran when ever it got a little stained I would think back on a novel I read and have my D-NPC take the characters to that world for one reason or another))
Guest Major Tom
Re: Plot Seeds Needed You could always spring the "field trip gone wrong" scenario on the superteens: Say, for instance, the PCs' class is taken out to the local woods to collect stuff for a science class project and, teenyboppers being what they are, some of the PCs wander off from the main group to fool around. Then, once they're feeling well and truly safe, you can spring a Reign of Fire-type surprise on them: have them find a heretofore-undiscovered cave -- a cave that happens to be the resting place of some monstrous creature thought to exist only in legend and myth... and they accidentally wake it up ( ). The PCs' mission, should they choose to accept it (like they're going to have a choice here), will be to find some way to stop the aforementioned creature from going on a rampage and turning their friends and teachers (not to mention everybody else in the campaign city/town/whatever) from being turned into Purina Monster Chow. Kristopher
Re: Plot Seeds Needed Does anyone have any suggestions for finding maps / layouts to serve as a starting point for a layout of the Engelson Accademy? megaplayboy
Re: Plot Seeds Needed Here's a few: Evil little bastard or b!t@h, future master villain who just happens to be the "Teacher's Pet". Alternatively, ELB grows up, starts rival academy with a more..."morally unbound" curriculum across town/state/country. Students butt heads, rivalry grows over time. Adults all laid up with mystery illness--will the Academy remain intact until they recover? The current Teen Titans and X-Men cartoons are good resources, IMO. Boarding school type stuff. Thanks. If you happen to have it or know someone who does (who'd be willing to let you borrow it), you could use the floor plans for the Strike Force HQ/Mansion from the Strike Force supplement; just add an extra floor to the layout (my choice would be the members' suite level; just eliminate the dividing wall that separates the bedroom and living room areas, and voila! Instant classrooms!). Major Tom
