The Crimson Baboon dresses in an outlandish swashbuckler's outfit (with no
red on it anywhere) and wears a gorilla mask. Originally she was an explorer
who found a Mystic Baboon Pendant carved of ruby and the mystic Blade of the
Baboon in an ancient South American temple. Taking up these implements, she
chose to fight for justice as The Crimson Baboon! (Note: She also does not
speak French, despite the outrageous accent. And yes, I know baboons are not
from South America. It's the Tick universe, fer cryin' out loud!)

Platinum Orangutang is The Crimson Baboon's loyal sidekick, but DON'T use
"the S-word" around her! She HATES the term "sidekick" and tends to go off
explosively when someone applies it to her. Platinum Orangutang wears a
skin-tight bodysuit of metallic silver plus a monkey mask, which is why she
is frequently mistaken for an escaped NASA test chimp! She's brighter,
tougher, and better looking than The Crimson Baboon, but seems completely
unaware of it...and so is everyone else (she is, after all, a sidekick).

I love these characters, and I think you nailed the spirit of the Tick universe.

I really like "Spanking of zee Monkee," the "Orangu-Hang Silver Foil Glider," and "Distinctive Features: Bad French Accent, Swashbuckler Outfit, Gorilla Mask."

Every entertainment medium can be improved by the addition of a couple of monkeys.

The Maori still do that, though it's still a relative rarity. They're mostly seen on the faces of either the more dedicated followers of the culture, or the odd gang member or two. That said the moko (with the o's making kind of an 'oar' or 'aww' noise, maww-kaww, the name for the facial tattoo here) has recently been seen on the face of a rising Maori radio personality. Most Maori performers just apply makeup to their face in simulation of the moko, as it tends to limit ones employment options.

Can you imagine someone looking like, say, Darth Maul, working at Burger King?
