Captain Obvious
I've been reading these books recently, and of course, have been thinking about game conversions. So far, I've only read The Tank Lords and part of Caught in the Crossfire, and although infantry skimmers have been mentioned, there's not a lot of detail on them. So I went searching online for information and found this page: http://www.salute.co.uk/slammers3/ It's a pretty good resource, and the guy who posted the info seems to have done some in-depth research himself. Just thought I'd post a link so anyone else interested would have this available.
TheQuestionMan
Re: Hammer's Slammers Try a couple of the Star Hero Fandom Sites. http://www.starherofandom.com/ Matrix HERO - Hover Ship Traveller use Garv Tanks. Warhammer 40K uses Grav/Hover Tanks. See the my sign for links. Susano
Re: Hammer's Slammers Hmm... I revised all the powergun write-ups and posted them here to the boards. Let me look. Captain Obvious
Re: Hammer's Slammers Yeah, I remember that thread. Looking at it again and comparing, it seems like your revised version works better for the 2cm rifle, damage wise. From my (highly unscientific) calculations, I've determined that iridium armor would provide as much defense as about 3-4 times as much steel, at about 3 times the weight. This leaves a blower tank at the same SIZ as a modern equivalent, but with an additional +4 DEF and -4" Knockback Resistance, and accounts for (most of) the weight difference as well. A 5d6 RKA would have a small chance of causing some damage, which never happened in the books...a tanker wouldn't even consider it a risk to run right over an infantryman who stood firing a powergun. So your 4d6 revision looks better in that respect. Which leads me to this question: Why didn't you update the page?
Susano
Re: Hammer's Slammers Which leads me to this question: Why didn't you update the page? Probably because I was planning on updating all the guns at once... Yeah, that's my story and I'm, sticking to it!
